The all-time saddest moment on RD has to be when Rimmer got the letter saying that he had passed his officer's exam, and then he realized he was still in the Better Than Life Game. Or when Rimmer found someone to love him, but had to leave his command to let her live in Holoship. Or when Rimmer almost got his father to say he was proud of him, but his mind rebelled in Better Than Life. Or when Rimmer realized he was alive, then blew himself up in Timeslide.
Are the sad moments always Rimmer? cry
Tell us the sad moments you remember the most fondly.

The saddest moment. Hmm. I think Kryten said it best.
It's the old, old story. Droid meets droid. Droid becomes chameleon. Droid loses chameleon, chameleon turns into blob, droid gets blob back again, blob meets blob, blob goes off with blob, and droid loses blob, chameleon and droid. How many times have we seen that story?

The one where Rimmer gets a letter about his father being dead always gets me misty, even though he hated his dad. Go figure.

When Christine Kochansky came back as the wrong person, with the wrong personality.

OliviaOblivia Ick, when she came back that was a sad moment for the show. Amen to that! Though I must admit that Kryten's reactions to her are friggin' hilarious.

Um...sad moment...let me think... The end of Only the Good...
"Arnold Rimmer, your life is over. Come with me..." The Grim Reaper.
But right, right at the end, when Rimmer kicked death in the balls and left, now that was funny.
The saddest, saddest moment, or at least the most ironic, came a few seconds later, when the screen said:
"The End."
'The Smeg it is."
...and it turned out to be the end after all. Ooh, I'm becoming melancholy, like Kryten in The Last Day.
Ok, I'm done now.

I agree about the bit where Rimmer gets the letter about his dad being dead. That gets me every time!
I've always thought the bit where Lister puts the baby!him under the pool table in the box was quite emotional, but maybe that's just me. sweatdrop

It does appear that most of the sad moments on RD happen to Rimmer.

I think the saddest moment was either the death of Ace Rimmer, or Rimmer's Funeral, both from Stoke Me A Clipper.

I agree...Rimmer receiving the 'Your father is dad' letter. When he passed away peacefully in his jeep.
