That's right. CARD CHARACTER. You won't be seeing Yuugi-tachi here. You probably won't even refer to them, much less be aware of their existance.
You, my friend, are from the world of Duel Monsters. You either ARE one of these monsters, or you are one of the various humanoid creatures (or robots, should you choose to be Jinzo or something) running about the world.

THE STORYThe Kingdom has always live peacefully in the center of the Overworld. A giant fortress houses the King and his court. The Kingdom is surrounded by mountains and an insufferable desert and both are almost impossible to pass. As a result, the Kingdom has not advanced scientifically and is stagnated in the middle ages.
Many
warriors and
spellcasters call the Kingdom their home.
Recently, however, restless fiends have been beginning to attack the Kingdom in droves. It has gotten so dire, that the Kingdom has given a call to help to the modern world, who until this moment they have looked on with fear, trepidation, and scorn.
Many of the
machines,
modern warriors, and
futuristic technology comes from the outside world.
It is also said that a dark force is behind the monster attacks. A Citadel deep in the Underworld is brewing a hellish plan for the domination of the Overworld.
Many
fiends and dark
spellcasters exist in the Underworld.
Such warring has come even to the attention of the heavens themselves. The
angelic creatures from above feel it is their duty, not that of the mortal creatures upon the Overworld, to defeat the Underworld's devils.
Of course, this news quickly spread to the
Different Dimension, whose Master decided to take matters into his own hands. By sending his own warriors into the Overworld, he hopes that they can act as a neutral party to stop the mounting tension. If not, there is a backup plan : planting the Primal Seed that will either save or destroy the Overworld itself.

-Once a card is taken, similar cards may not be allowed to be played, even if they aren't taken.
+ The D.D. Warrior Lady originated as the Warrior Lady of the Wasteland; therefore, both girls can't exist at the same time.
+ If a person is playing a lvl (insert # here) that's a higher # of the same monster you want to play, then you're out of luck. Why? See secondary rule below:
- Consequenty, lvl (whatever#) chracters can be targeted by charcters with attacks, items or abilites that will lower the levels of those characters (and so force them to revert to earlier incarnations of themselves)
+Certain magic cards (items) will be prioritized to the characters that usually use them (Read: ONLY BLACK MAGICIAN GETS MAGICAL HATS ;_; )
+ consequently, some abilities & items may be allowed for multiple characters.
-Be nice when you're out of character.
+You can be an a*****e in-character all you want. People just won't like you.
-Romance is acceptable, even yaoi/yuri, but if a player tells you to back off, BACK OFF.
