Atae had hiked up mountain with some vague notion of maybe dropping in on her parents and/or her grandfather for a visit. She hadn't seen them in a while, and maybe they weren't the most close-knit family in the world, but she liked to see them once in a blue moon. For the moment, though, she was nearing the HQ, and it was cold out with winter coming on. Not like it was all that far to Grampa Dante's house from HQ. Compared to the distance she walked to get to HQ in the first place anyway. It was quite a treck up here from Realm.

Sparda was currently quite confused about how the hell (no pun intended) he had ended up here. And how he now was possessed of a body with fur, long ears, four paws, and three tails. So far as such things went, he also seemed to have many of the characteristics of his more human-like body ... or former body, as it were.
The last thing he sort of remembered was hanging from a wall back in hell (home sweet home?) with a couple of lower-level demons cackling at him and surely planning to visit a fair amount of pain on him - weak as he was from just having died in the human world.
Seemed they wouldn't get the chance now. Whatever or whoever had pulled him into this place, they weren't around. Though he was sure there were other dangers here ... there always were. But for the moment, Sparda was exploring his new surroundings. If by "exploring", you meant playing unashamedly in the snow and getting the fine clothes he wore thoroughly soaked.

Atae wasn't really sure what suddenly prompted her to veer from the path and into the trees, though it wasn't the first time such a thing had happened. Usually such things occured when one of her friends were nearby. But the kitsu she saw romping in the snow certainly wasn't anyone she'd met before... though he did look... familiar. He dressed sort of like Uncle Vergil... and apparently had Grampa Dante's utter lack of regard for things like that. And he looked like both of them...
Every once in a while curiosity got the best of her, this being one of those times. But where she'd normally be shy, the strange familiarity of the male combined with the fact that he was acting very much like a kit made it difficult to be afraid. So she padded toward him slowly, watching him with her ears pricked forward. "Hello?"

Sparda froze at that - wary still despite his playful attitude. Turning slowly, he saw rather quickly that it wasn't anything dangerous (or probably wasn't). No ... it was another creature like himself ... like what he had turned into. And this one ... female. Somehow, he seemed to just know that, most likely through scent.
Smiling, he shook snow off tails and took a couple of steps toward her, using a paw to smooth hair back into place. And it seemed that he had magical hair, like Vergil did, because it stayed. "Hello, yourself," he replied, voice sort of quiet and refined, totally at odds with what he'd been doing a few seconds ago.

She knew it wasn't Vergil. She'd never actually talked to Vergil but she'd seen him a couple of times, and in any case this fellow wasn't acting nearly as anti-social as Vergil had been given credit for. But the duplicity of the familiarity about him made her tilt her head curiously. "Are you from around here?" She'd not heard of another brother or anything... but that didn't necessarily mean a lot, right? Somehow she just knew he wasn't one of the younger generations. "Er... sorry if I'm being nosy. You remind me of somebody..."

Sparda blinked at the question and tilted head slightly to gaze at her. There was something ... oddly familiar about this female as well, but he couldn't put a finger (or rather, paw) on it. "Not really ... I only got here today, wherever 'here' is," he admitted, with a bit of a smile.
He wasn't sure how he could remind her of anyone, but ... ah, almost forgot. Drawing himself up a bit, he bowed slightly and said, "Forgive me for not introducing myself before. I'm Sparda, formerly a demon, then champion of the humans in a huge war, demon again ... and now ... whatever I am now."

Several things clicked for Atae when Sparda introduced himself. You could almost see the lightbulb turn on above her head. "Well... You're on Kitsusagi Mountain. It's part of, but sort of separate from, the Kitsusagi Realm. What you are is a Kitsusagi. Like... fox-rabbit things, but we're not really. We're just really similar, but larger." She wagged her tails. "And you're not the only one to... just show up. I know a lot of people that've had that happen. Like... my Grampa." She paused, and grinned sheepishly. "Oh, right... My name's Atae. ...Atae Sparda." She ducked her head bashfully and peered up at him through her chocolate colored hair. "Grampa's name is Dante. You reminded me of him... and Uncle Vergil. I don't suppose you're...?" She trailed off. He'd get it if he was who she was beginning to think he was.

Sparda listened carefully to her as she told him about where and what they were, nodding here and there. He had never heard of Kitsusagi before, which nicely confirmed his thought that he was in a completely different world.
But when she introduced herself, Sparda froze, staring at her, suddenly wide-eyed. What ... were the odds? Sparda had been a common enough first name in the human world ... but ... to use it as a last name in this place?
He didn't even get a chance to open his mouth, though, before she was going on again. Dante ... and Vergil ... all right, that was just too much. "Unless something very very strange is going on here..." he said slowly, tips of his tails flicking, "The Dante and Vergil you know ... are very likely my two boys." And she was Dante's ... grandchild...? Oh dear. Sparda only hoped that his son had gotten a little bit older before siring children... as the last time he'd seen the twins, they were teenagers. It was good that they were still alive, though ... in one form or another.

Atae beamed at his answer. Sure that was... probably a hell of a bomb to have dropped on you on your first encounter with someone in a new world, but... he needed to know, right? And... oh, right. "Umm... Vergil's got kids too." She didn't know how it happened and she wasn't even going to try and explain it.
If Atae was the sort that was easy with physical contact with another, she'd probably have bounced over and given Sparda a hug. Beyond the fact that he was family there was some charm he had about him like Dante did that made her instantly like him. But neither Raensu nor Endless had ever been much for cuddling with her unless she needed comforting or something, and really she'd never thought to ask, so...
She hopped from foot to foot excitedly for a moment and then nodded to herself. "I was actually on my way to go see Grampa... you want to go with me?" Happy tail wag.

Sparda blinked at that second bit of information, looking just a bit stunned. Dante ... well. He would have almost expected it of that twin, but Vergil also had children..?
"I ... I would like to go along with you, if I may," he finally replied, falling back just a bit more on formality to hide his shock at this news.

Atae frowned a bit. "I... dunno how Vergil's kids happened either. Er... but Sigurd at least is very nice. Polite sort. I haven't actually met the other two..." She shook her head and shrugged. "Guess you'll have time to ask him, though, huh?"
She nodded again when he asked to go with her. "Just follow me! It's a bit of a ways... I'm used to the walk, I dunno if the new body thing will give you any trouble or not, but... just so you know?" She looked slightly puzzled, not having been entirely sure where she was going with that, but she padded off toward Dante's shop. House. Place. Yeah, place.
She decided to forego the HQ now. The cold didn't seem so bad now, and she just... wanted to see Dante's expression. She had no idea what to expect, but she hoped he'd be happy. Or... at least, not unhappy. She really had no idea what sort of relationship Sparda had had with his children.
Around the Mountain, down into the little valley, and through the streets of the mountain town to Dante's door she went, making sure she didn't lose Sparda along the way. Not that she honestly thought he wouldn't be able to keep up... she just would have felt really bad if she ran off and lost him. She hopped up to the door and knocked before opening it a crack and calling inside. "Grampa Dante? Are you there? I came to visit. And... I brought someone I think you should see."

Sparda kind of nodded at that and started following Atae, thoughts whirling around in his head. Surely, they were older now ... Dante may have had a fling and had children, but Vergil ... he wouldn't have unless there was a very good reason. Or unless something very out of the ordinary had happened.
He smiled at seeing the front of the shop though, head tilting up to the name above the door, "Devil May Cry". That ... really was just like something that Dante was likely to pick.
Dante glanced up from where he'd been lounging on the couch with his twin and smiled, rolling off to pad over to the door. "Heya, Atae!" he called, before it was even all the way open. He liked all of his children and their children ... enjoyed it when they came to visit.

Vergil knew the name, but he'd never really and truly become acquainted with Atae, his great-niece. There was the momentary wave of irritation that was associated with all of Dante's offspring and their offspring, but it wasn't there for long, as now...Vergil had transgressions of his own to be sorry for.
Slipping up, he sat on the couch, waiting for Dante's granddaughter to come inside. He'd like to see her, after all...perhaps get to know her and start to associate these offspring with less...unpleasant things perhaps.
A shame he didn't know how interesting it was going to get.

Atae peeked around the door and spotted Vergil and ducked back out to face Sparda for a moment. "Hey... they're both here." Blink. Anyway, there wasn't really much more to do aside from open the door and step inside, so she did. Her small frame didn't do much to block Sparda from sight even before she stepped out of the doorway. She just sort of looked from one, to the other, to the other, not wanting to miss everyone's reactions and... really not at all sure what to say.

Sparda watched as Atae kind of nosed the door aside, eyeing Dante - who was closer to the door. Then he grinned and practically bounded inside, past Atae, to pounce on the younger of the two twins - a feat that was even easier in this sort of body. He got hold of an ear and chewed playfully. "Did you miss me?!" he called then, glancing up at Vergil and grinning at him too.
For just a second or two, Dante was completely and totally taken by surprise, blue eyes going wide. "Dad!" he yelled then, twisting around under the other and kicking at him with back feet, wriggling at the chewing on his ear. "Agh! I did but I don't now!" he said, laughing. "Get off meee!"
