Have you ever talked to your parents about Death note? I did today and my mom said that it is disgusting and will not listian to me about the story. This happened right after I wanted her option about the whole death note contervrsy in the states and she is a little mad at me for trying to justify the series. Thats only because she is old fashioned but knowing her, in just a couple of weeks, she'll forget about it and I'll be able to read it freely. sweatdrop Has this kind of thing happened with your parents?

There's a Death Note controversy in the states? O___O;
Uh, I talk about Death Note all the time around my parents. Like, I'll say something and my dad says, "Is it Death Note?" :3 But my mom doesn't really care.. xDD She only knows who Matt is.

I do backbends to avoid my mom finding out about Death Note. I call it Desunoto (the japanese pronounciation) and she seem to think that any anime with a character named "Light" can't be all bad. I cosplay him and she's even payed for the costume. I keep my "Death Note" *a.k.a. my cosplay prop* hidden away in random places.

My mom's okay with it. I always talk about it and take the time to explain it to her. She thinks it sounds cool and she'd try reading it herself if I could find a copy of it in Spanish...

My mom stares at me but never says anything when I talk about it. My dad knows I like the series, but he's not interested in the contents (for once).
They haven't found out about the U.S.-Death Note controversy yet- or the murder in Belgium- and I'm praying they stay in the dark.

I told my mom about the murder in Belgium. She said it's sad that people always try to ban books because of some of the stupid things a few people do.

I don't really have problems like that, my parents are okay with whatever anime I watch. Actually, my father is interested in reading Death Note xD since he liked the way I explained it's story and, when my cousin lent me the first two volumes, he said the illustrations were pretty interesting.
But I didn't know there was a DN controversy in the US o.o I was pretty convinced the series were really popular and most people liked them..

Wow. Any time I try to tell my parents about anything I read they normally say "at least its not Halo" and try to follow what I say. But don't. rofl

My parents think the covers are too scary or something but they say as long as i don't become a mass muderer, i can read it. But they didn't really like the idea of me crossplaying as Near, so yeah.
i think it's dumb all the controversy death note is causing i mean it's just a book.

I didn't even know there was some controversy going on about DN. Well...My parents really don't mind about what animes or mangas I read. Sometimes they'll ask what's it about, and I'll tell them, but they'll just be like "Okay." They're open minded. Okay. I just hurried and read about the controversy in Virgina and Belgium. 1. The controversy only arose, because some idiot decided to write his classmates names into his Replica Death Note, and he got caught. So in that case it's not the point of parents getting the concept of DN, but him probably believing that the book could actually do it or something. Plus we don't know if he wrote how they'll die. So that alone if he did would cause controversy. 2. Belgium Controversy. Yeah you'll have to read that, because I don't even know what to even say for that controversy. I'd be scared too.
