I saw a newbie who got Golden Laurels. Seriously.

You've got a really good point there. Never actually thought about that.

But it isn't a rumor, because I was lurking in the GCD one day, and there she was, wearing the Golden Laurels. She even had the screen shot of winning it in her signature. She had the Warm Starter set on, and from what I can remember she was a literate.

So I'm guessing an oldbie with good editing skills was behind all of it, as you said before. I'm now wishing that I had saved the username somewhere. neutral

i remember it being mentioned about rare items being given out, but i thought that applied to the random chance items (the items that come in the little giftboxes) instead of monthly collectibles, especially since the only way to access monthly collectibles is through the marketplace. again if daily chance was giving out past monthly collectibles, there would be a major response from gaian users. but the rare items found in random giftbox items are already given out randomly already and these items are meant to have ongoing access to users. so if those items were given out through daily chance, there would be less of a response than items whose access has been completely discontinued. there was an announcement that the appearance of random event items in daily chance were giving people an unfair advantage so they discontinued the practice, but rare random event items are quite different than the appearance of past monthly collectibles in daily chance. also, the appearance of random items that didn't exist entirely is a common glitch on gaia that is also found in the marketplace. they are meant to be features of items gaia hasn't released yet, however, that seems different than exceedingly rare collectible items that gaia has released that are only accessed through ownership of previous users and not the actual site itself. however, the golden laurels signature could easily be faked. i saw a person that made a signature that looked like the daily chance had given out love, friendship, or peace. even though the signature looked realistic, it was still recognizable that daily chance isn't giving out love or peace as an item. the person had obviously created that illusion for fun, so it would be quite possible to simply create something like that.
