I just saw this yesterday in 3D and was really impressed...It is a little different from the original story but it is still very well done. Anyone else here seen it yet? If so please share your thoughts on the film^^ thanks

Crapola, not rich enough to afford a 6 dollar movie ticket. But I'm also a poor one to ask about book to film adaptations. 9.5 times out of 10 I side with the book being better.

But if I do go, I will definitely have something to say.

I don't care to see it. The book was interesting but the movie, I hate that they made it look so CG. I don't get why they did that. -_-

On imdb.com, there is a really funny debate over whether the violence or nudity is more disturbing. Made me laugh.

I really actually want to see this one though. Maybe someone off uTorrent has made it available?

Edit: took less than 20 min. to download. Can watch it now, yay. More later.

As a book-to-screen adaptation, I thought it was well done. It far exceeded my expectations as I thought it would be another mindless action movie using a recognizable name to sell tickets. But the producers and screenwriter stuck to many elements of the poem very well. Sometimes the animation does distract from what's going on, but for some of the effects, like the dragon or Grendel's mom's transformation, I think looked better animated rather than as CGI live-action inserts. Changing the dragon's parents was different from the original story, but I think was a better way to connect the battle with Grendel with the end of Beowulf's career. I didn't like Beowulf's friend's reaction at the end. But then again, hero stories are better as tragedies.

I just realized that Neil Gaiman wrote the screenplay for this. He wrote one of my favorite B5 episodes, "Day of the Dead".

I thought it was alright. I didn't read that actual poem before so I don't really have much to comment on how much it stuck with its original source.

I watched it earlier. I was way impressed with the CGI. Very life like. You could tell what actors where what. The story was a bit unbelievable but then again I think that was kind of the point. I was impressed.
