Gaia is getting really depressingly lame.
First they compliment their own story arc, particularly on the parts of which pretty much everyone felt were the most lacking in quality. The tone in the writing was pretty abysmal, so even if they were making a joke, I didn't get it.

The download, however, is miles more ridiculous. They're now basically pleading us to hack up their movie, to the point of consequence. Forced insults aren't funny, they're just sad. So why's Gaia doing this? Easy answer.

Now all you budding Media analysts out there, why don't you go ahead and tell me. What? You don't exist? Oh, then I'll just have to say it.

Gaia is working with something referred to as the 2-Step Flow here. It's a cheap and effecting way to advertise, and according to Sir Marshall McLuhan (Canada's top media theorist, and notable an icon of mine), it's the best way to present any product.

So what is it exactly? Simple, you get some people to learn the message, and they run off and tell another person. Hence the two-steps. The beauty of it? That message seems more credible because it comes from a friend, not to mention it's free advertising!

So how is Gaia doing that? Simply put, they're pushing you all to make your little MMVI mash-ups so that you'll want to show them off. If you have a "funny" video, you're liable to want to let a buddy in on the jokes. This buddy says "Where's this from?" and kablammo, the gospel of Gaia gets spread infectiously.

Even better for them, because they hold the copyrights (which will stand up in court because it's their copy you're downloading), they've got the legal perogative to take down anything that they find goes too far.

So let's run it down: They've got free advertising, total creative control, and they can disguise it like they're just giving us Gaians something fun to do. If it weren't so slimy, it'd be clever.

Toast, as much as we value your opinion, unfortunately we already have a thread for this topic. So I am locking this one.
Now, I'm not deleting it mind you, but you should check to make sure that you are the first one making a thread about a specific topic.
