There you are expecting a little orange bar, when you get whacked in the face by RED BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS!

Not only is this absolutely terrifying, extraneous as hell, and not to mention, total lunacy, but it's so out-of-tempo with the look and feel of Gaia that it seems like a scam in and of itself.
As Gaia grows more and more paranoid of the world around it, my interest dwindles increasingly so. One assumes that the medias new and eerily unexpected hand in Gaia Online is the catalyst for this obsession with paternalistic safety. It's likely that Viacom's children fear a lawsuit so heavily that they've pushed Lanzer and his outmoded friends to this alien stance.
Of course, my unneeded opinion is that the true blame comes down to the Battle System, really. So costly to produce that jolly ol' Gaia.com had to bend over and let the conglomerates in.
My unneeded prediction? This website will go the way that all "cool" things go, straight into the trash. The media has and always will kill what it finds, and the accessibility of the internet is causing it to occur more swiftly and overtly than ever.

So I went to my Account Preferences to flick off (connotatively and denotatively, assuredly) this ridiculous window... Check out this magical little caveat included alongside the option box:Quote: NOTICE -- READ CAREFULLY BEFORE CHANGING THIS OPTION!
If you set this field to "YES", you are NOT eligible for moderator-assisted item recovery if your account is scammmed, phished, or hacked as a result of following an off-site link.
By changing this option, you accept that any loss of your account, Gaia Gold, Gaia Cash, or your items that may occur is your own responsibility, and that Gaia staff will not assist you in recovering any of these items.

No, I think they did the right thing. I mean, of course it bothers us, thoughtful users that would never fall for a scam, but what about those countless of 'poor' users who don't pay attention to what the site keeps telling them every two clicks and keep getting hacked? This way, those users have no rights to spam the mods because of what they failed to realize.
I mean, the next step would be to stick the warnings in their EYES.
It's not the admins fault, but of those....poor, poor users.

I thought it was a scam when I first saw it too, since they didn't say anything about the new feature.
It's funny how it will still say you are leaving gaia, when its just a link to another thread on gaia. o-o
Gaia's little extras to protect the little kiddies on gaia is getting annoying. word filtering and now big red warnings. Also that little warning when you ask to shut it off is just another way to scare poor gaians.

I liked the old warning.
Little banner at the top.
Then it was little banner and you can't scroll.
Now it's huge warning with consequences for turning it off.
