Oookay, so I had a dream the other night that I was pregnant. I'm 15.
It was actually more of a nightmare, because it turns out that the father was my venezolano. He promised to stick by me "no matter what", but then had to go to Venezuela for some reason or other, and got killed in a guerrilla or something like that. So I was all alone. Pregnant.
It's no wonder I dream about teenage preganancy. I'm surrounded by it.
A seventeen-year-old friend of my sister has a kid already.
A twenty-year-old friend of my other sister has three kids now, ages six, five and two.
A seven-year-old student of my mother's has a twenty-one-year- old mother who is pregnant again.
A friend of mine has a sister who's boyfriend didn't want to use pro- tection {"It doesn't feel as good"}. She got pregnant. A few years later she called him, he went to her house, she told him she wanted to break up, they ended up having sex and now she is pregnant. Again.
Mexico is known for the vast quantity of pregnant teens. The city where I currently live has the highest number of teenage pregnancy in the country.
The place where I used to live, girls as young as sixteen were dropping out of school to go marry some fisher and spend the rest of their lives barefoot and pregnant, in a small house with too many children where everybody smells like fish.
Their mentality was "what else can I do with my life?"
[/rant]
So. Basically, I want to know your thoughts on the subject. -What would you do if it happened to you? -Abortion: pro choice/life? -Anybody you know in this kind of situation? -How did the people around them react? -Anything else, heh.

Woah; I dreamed I was pregnant just a few days ago too. Weird! XD But then again, I'm 19, so it's not as freaky.
If I somehow had ended up pregnant as a (younger) teen, I probably would have kept it. I've always wanted a child, though I've been waiting until I'm sure I can give him/her a good life. But if I ended up with a kid suddenly, I'd find some way to raise him or her.
As for abortion, I think it's the woman's choice, though I also think they should get their arse in gear and do it before their second trimester. I'm not really supportive of after first trimester abortions.
My friend when I was younger had a sister who was pregnant by her boyfriend who abandoned her when he found out. As far as I know she had the kid and is raising him/her, but I dunno, she didn't seem all that responsible. Lots of girls in the town I used to live in got pregnant young with absent/useless/abusive boyfriends. But all the girls I know who did had families that supported them, whether or not THOSE people were good influences or not.

&hearts&spades&diams&clubsThat would be a terrifying dream to me. >_<
Personally, if i were pregnant right now, today, i would probably get an abortion. I am NOT ready for kids, and there are already enough orphans in the world. Think me terrible if you must, but in that situation, that's what i'd probably do.
Now, that being said, i'm not really for or against abortion. I think there are situations where it can be the best option, and situations where it can be the worst. It's the people who ABUSE IT that get to me. It's one thing to have one once because you made a mistake. It's quite another to get one every time you get pregnant just because you don't want kids and you're too dumb to use a condom. That's just insane. And sick.
I don't know anyone at the moment, but i know people who are on the fast track to getting there. It's a very sad thing. &hearts&spades&diams&clubs

Well, I'm a lesbian and on birth control so unless I immaculately conceive, I don't think pregnancy is likely. I'm pro-choice for a multitude of reasons. If I did become pregnant, I would have an abortion. I'm a full-time student. I run my own business and work. I'm in charge of running our household and keeping our family together. I'm also severely depressed. =D
Teen pregnancy is a problem due to the lack of sex education & unavailability of birth control. Research proves, again and again, that offering birth control and sex education to minors doesn't raise the rate of teen pregnancy or abortions. Rather, surprise, surprise, abstinence-only sex ed does.
I don't feel either way on teens having kids. It's their choice and anybody other than them has no right to judge them.

If I got pregnant, I would probably get an abortion. I'm not ready for kids and I'd rather put myself first place, instead of having to care for a baby.

I wouldn't get pregnant in the first place because I practice abstinence from sex. I'm pro-life and actively pro-life, and don't worry, I don't bomb abortion clinics or anything. There are some instances when abortion needs to be practiced in order to save the mother or something like that, but they need to do it in their first trimester.

i know a few kids who got pregnant in high school. kids these days should be keeping their legs close and worrying about more important things than their sex drive.
i was reading in the news the other day that this middle school wants to start offering birth control for these girls and they already give out condoms. they're not even bothering with teaching abstinence anymore. pathetic, really.

Abortion=Murder. (Unless proven rape or incest. But against popular belief that that's what it mostly is, that's only about 2% of all cases. Most of them just want to have more fun without protection)
I wouldn't kill someone. What's the difference if the baby is in your body or out? It's still a human.
But anyways, truthfully, I don't worry about. Mainly because, if I got pregnant, first thing I'd wonder is how the heck I got pregnant without sex. Really. Everyone seems to say, "Poor girls! Pregnant! Let's kill their babies~", while instead they should tell them to keep their legs closed, because when you have sex, it isn't just for fun. You're trying for a child, there.

I hear you calling and it's needles and pins I want to hurt you just to hear you screaming my name
I am 100% against abortion. I don't care what your excuse is. Rape is a terrible thing. Does that mean you can suddenly abdicate responsibilty? Hell no. Give it up for adoption.
With so many parents out there trying desperately to get pregnant, abortion is just selfish. No, it's selfish, period.
Don't want to touch you but you're under my skin I want to taste you but your lips are venomous poison

There's a girl at my school who's 7 months pregnant, and she's engaged to a 22 year old guy.
She's a junior.
I don't see why some people do that. Can't you just wait? Do you really want your life to fall apart?
Now personally, I would probably have an abortion, even though I'm not going to get pregnant before I'm married except for if I'm raped.
Because, let me tell you this. If you were the product of a rape, would you want to live with that for the rest of your life? I certainly wouldn't. And don't say put the baby up for adoption, because would you want to live with that for the rest of your life knowing that your mom/dad didn't want you?
And yes, I do understand that it's murder, but if you've never really lived, can you really die?

Well...I'm completely pro-choice. I don't think it's muder. And I think everybody should be allowed to choose what they want to do with their own bodies and with anything that's growing in there. As long as they are responsible and careful.
Personally, I would never get an abortion, unless I were raped. I think abortion is terrible.
But I don't, and neither does anybody else for that matter, have the right to dictate what somebody else does with their body. It's completely their choice.

I think I replied to most of you here, but (if you are interested in this discussion) don't just read your reply. Skim through all of them, because I say a lot of things.
{if I didn't reply to you, I either agree with you, or simply don't have anything to say xDD}
@Neggy: I think that, if you are a pregnant teen, just having somebody who supports you or is on your side, must make it soo much better to live through.
@toxic: I agree. To get an abortion because of a mistake that seriously hurts you is fine. But to just get one every time you are stupid and don't protect yourself is definitely sick.
@vegan: Last year, two groups came to give us pregnancy and STD prevention talks. The first was all about sex education and birth control and whatnot. They gave us free condoms. The other one was all "don't have sex. don't have sex. don't have sex." Everybody was just making fun of the second one, but in the first one, kids were actually paying attention to the talkers.
People have to start really educating kids if they want this problem to actually stop.
@Stali: Actually, I think you will find that, nowadays, sex is more for fun than for actual procreation. Very few people actually wait for marriage to have sex.
I don't agree with you when you say that abortion = murder. If you get an abortion during the first trimester, it's not even a baby yet. It's not even a human yet.
@Sonic: If I were a victim of rape, and I got pregnant out of it, I would definitely get an abortion. That's a terrible responsability to have to put up with. For nine months of your life you're carrying around something that is a product of one of the most terrible things that a human being can do to another.
If a couple is unable to get pregnant, there are many other ways for them to adopt a child, and victims of rape should not have to consider infertil parents when they decide what to do with their own bodies.

-What would you do if it happened to you? Um... It never will. XD I don't do pregnancy. I tend to lean more toward girls anyway. -Abortion: pro choice/life? Nnn, I think it really depends on the situation. If a girl is raped or if there will be severe medical problems for her, then yes, abortion is probably justified. If the girl is having sex willingly, then she knows the consequences and should be prepared for them.
-Anybody you know in this kind of situation? Where do I start? XD My sister JoAnna had her first kid in February, and she's twenty. So that's not so bad. She's having another in January, though. Reva, a friend from my old school, was pregnant at 17. She dropped out of school because of it. Her babies are cute (they're twins). Buuuut right now she's fighting for custody of them. The dad has had them for a while. (They broke up.) Crystal's only 17, and she's married. *Rolls eyes* She says she's pregnant, but she's said that about 50 times since I've known her, so she's probably lying. She's like that. Melissa waaas... 16 when she was pregnant? Maybe 15... I dunno if she had them or not, though. Mom had me a month before her 18th birthday. -How did the people around them react? JoAnna: Mainly just "Oh, cool!"because she wasn't super-young and she's in a committed relationship. Reva: Kinda like "...WHAT?! SERIOUSLY?!" followed by "Oh wow, what are you gonna name them?" and such. Crystal: DUMB b***h. >_< Melissa: I think her boyfriend broke up with her over it.
-Anything else, heh. *Hugs Shindig* Just use protection if you two are sexually active, and a morning-after pill if you want to make sure. You'll be fine as long as you're careful, hun.
