No, not right now you sillies. This isn't some profound 'what is reality' thread. heart

I've had lucid dreams before, but I've learned not to interfere with how they play out. Almost every time I tried, I got tossed out of my dream body and forced to watch things play out at a distance. I'm lazy. So I decided to not even bother anymore.

But this past weekend, two nights in a row, I got 'stuck' in my dreams. I'll focus on the more extreme night. I was spinning in circles, yelling every name I go by: "___ wake up!", staring at letters morphing, and even running into walls. I turned people into flowers, and jumped to different locations in my dreamscape. Nothing could wake me up.

I finally did wake up naturally, and then went back to sleep...big mistake. It happened all over again. xd

Anyone heard of this before?

The best thing I can say is "It is just a dream".

Well, after an hour of unfruitful searching on the internet, I had a thought. I JUST e-mailed a psychology professor on it, so if I get any answers from him I'll let ya guys know. heart

Lucid dreams is something that happen almost never to me..
I only can remember having 3 of them in total... and only one of them is clear to me..

When I'm lucid dreaming, I like to play God with dream world.. so much fun..

Oh, I had that happen once. I tried to wake up in the middle of the night, and it was really strange, because I could "feel" my dream eyelids open but my real ones were staying shut. I think it was because I was deep in the dream cycle or whatnot, because I woke up later, but the experience was very vivid in my head. I think waiting would be the best plan for it, if you can't wake up. Probably just isn't time to.

Why are you trying to wake up?Sleep is good. And like Joshua said, you were probably to deep in REM to wake yourself up.

If you want to pass the dream time faster, just have fun messing with reality...

I usually only try to wake myself up if I'm in a panicked state or something seems to be intruding on my sleep. Or just general discomfort. I usually only do so if I feel I need to and mayhap there wasn't enough reason for you to wake up so you didn't.

Was it that you were in a Lucid Dream and you couldn't control the dream?
This could be that your subconcious was in more control then your concious so you were only partially in control. Its almost like veiwing someone elses thoughts but the thoughts are yours. This would be consistent with the concept of you being in deep rem sleep.

Or was it that you could control the dream but couldn't break out of the dream like feeling, as in you couldn't move about the Astral while you were asleep?
I would think that this would be a bit more odd then the other two situations. Perhaps something didn't want you to leave your body so you were trapped in this state. I would think it would be something imposed on you to some degree. Or part of you knew something the other part of you didn't so decided to keep you in that state.

The sub-conscience can be a bit difficult to deal with.

Or was it that you couldn't wake your self up from the dream state?
This would be solely dependent on being in a deep rem sleep.

If you gave a bit more info I could identify what might be wrong better.

The dream started out scary, and when I became lucid, I got very panicked at first. That's why I wanted to wake up. The dream itself then got less scary as I messed around with it, but not being able to wake up scared me more than the initial dream did. Thus I fought to wake up.

That's the thing, I thought maybe it had to do with sleep cycles. I'm still waiting for a return e-mail from my professor. But, people wake themselves up from REM sleep a lot--ever had a dream you were about to die and you snapped awake? That's not cause REM ended, but because your panic woke you up. So why didn't my panic wake me up?

Naw. It's more normal for me not to be able to control lucid dreams. In fact, I got so tired of getting thrown out of my dream body in them and forced to watch, that I rarely try to manipulate anything anymore.

THIS is pretty much what happened. I thought it might be dependent on the state of sleep, but people wake themselves up from deep REM a lot, so I'm not too sure that's it.
