Well... Gaia has finally done it, impressed me the greatest with inflation issues: Anyone notice the most recent announcement that a gaia cash store is coming? Filled with exclusive items that can only be purchased through means of hard earned cash, something alot of gaia user's don't always have to throw around freely. So basically, these are like mini donation items... which means the price is going to be crazy, esp since one of them is some new type of item that has some creature that evolves over time *Rolls eyes at the sudo-neopets idea*

I hope I'm not sounding like I'm flaming gaia... its not the aspect of what they are doing, so much as it is me hating how they cause inflation.

Any other views?

I think it's cool. I'll buy one, and sell it for hella expensive. It'll be great!

I have to say, I'm pretty excited about the prospect of a real cash shop on Gaia. I've been waiting for something like this for ages! I can see how it wouldn't appeal so much to someone who doesn't want to spend real money on a website like this, but at the moment I'm too busy going squee! over the thought of wasting even more money on Gaia that I don't particularly care about that side of the issue =P

For ages, the only real way for me to make money on Gaia has been to buy MCs and sell them.
More buyable items with RL cash = more gold for me! whee

I'm loving the idea, myself. Some of those items, and the concept (growing pets?) sounds amazing and extremely novel. I don't care if it costs cash... I want the items and the possible money! heart

I finally have to admit it...

GAIA IS BECOMING A CAPITALIST MONEY-HUNGRY, NEO-PET-ESK WEBSITE. crying

Jeebus save us. crying

I can't buy Gaia Cash in the first place, and that means I have to miss out on awesome items. It's not fair. crying

-Number one, Neopets don't evolve over time.
-Number two, why are you comparing this to Neopets? It's a lot more like MapleStory and Ragnarok Online, as they have similar things where you buy items for cash.
-Number three, they said most items would cost 25-50 cents. How is that horrible?
-Number four, why are you so against them being able to be more creative with items that they previously felt they were unable to make because of the reasons they stated. Items being too complicated for shops, but not complicated enough for MCs, and other items even being too complicated for MCs.

For the growing thing in the bottle, is it not just like any of the breedable/feedable/growing pets you can buy in the minishops (which are severely over-priced if you ask me)? Only now you can have one that's actually on your avatar and for a price you can actually afford.

I see no down-side here! I expect to spend more money there than I should... I highly doubt it'll cause THAT much inflation, since the items are so cheap that any kid who gets allowance can go buy a $10 card at Target or wherever and it'll last them a while.

PS: Capitalism is NOT BAD! You would be living in a third world country if we were not a capitalist nation! So stop whining about it! When you can come up with a way for utopian communism to work against the selfish nature of humanity, you can go claim the Nobel Peace Prize and start your own country. xp

Same here. Sure. I have the money. But I don't have the means to buy them. Because why?

My parents don't know about my existence on Gaia in the first place. I still rely on them for transport... and my friends are too busy with jobs.

So if I did go to target to get cash cards, it'd just start a whole thing of trouble... I'd have to be sneaky about it...

To start your own nation try http://www.nationstates.net !

HAHA! shameless plug.

But seriously, Euraravenne has some valid points.
On the other hand, a cash shop is kinda irksome since they are essentially charging real money for stuff. On the other side of it, I am pleasantly surprised to see they are going to be fairly cheap.

I think it's pretty cool and honestly can't see how it'd be any "worse" than Monthly Collectibles. The items are cheaper and (presumedly) not only available for a month. I can see some huge inflation RIGHT when the store opens, but not much else =P

+--I agree with everything you said except the Capitalism comment. America is one of the few countries that uses it and not every country without is a third world country. Look at Ireland and France! They use Socialism, and that works just dandy.

-coughs- As for the items, I think it's a good idea. With money pumping into Gaia in another form, maybe the movie adverts will die down a little.--+

It's irksome to me.
Also I'm hellaciously [oho! Making up a new word to get meaning!] cheap.
I will most likely not be getting any of the items, unless my darling sister who loves me very much and is donating and kind and wants me to visit her and not hate her guts gives me some of these items.
I kind of like the evolving over a period of time. It's sounds pretty kick a**.
What bothers me is the inflation.
I don't personally like the idea of donating moneys to a website that only gets an item you cannot use in real life.
I'm sure some people will spend a lot of money on these items just for a website. It is silly.

Yeah. That was my rant. Have fun with it.

Eruravenne does have a point... now in terms of your... first three points there.. I typed that with a sever headache.. Again, like I said I wasn't flaming gaia or anything. So you took what I said a bit too seriously there. The neopet comparison was because I couldn't come up with anything better in light of said headache (hence the term sudo-neopets... sudo probably wasn't the best word there... but w/e). lol.. I wasn't even saying that the cost was bad... you mistook that, I'm just saying, the fact that there is exclusive money only items is going to drive up the cost (gaia gold) of inflation. Inflation was my point the whole time, because gaia always complains about inflations after they do something like this, for instance with the daily chance and gold for pm, and numerous other things they've done. ((Has a headache now for future reference, if anyone feels like attacking me XD))

Edit: I missed your inflation comment @,@ sorry... *needs to go lay down and stop being sickly* >,<
