This is the official sign-up thread for Secret Santa 2007. Trust no substitutes. Quote: Q. What is a "Secret Santa"? A. It's a holiday gift-giving swap. Okay, I've already talked to a few of you via AIM, IRC, and MSN about this. I realize you don't want to be posting your mailing address in the thread, so once you add your name to the list of people participating please send me a PM with your mailing address. Once we get everyone paired off Lebki and I will send a PM to everyone participating with the information for the people they are giving a gift to. If we don't have a mailing address then it's a no go for this. Yes, for some of you this may mean mailing a gift internationally. It's not that hard. You go to your local Post Office with your gift wrapped in a box, and sign a form saying it doesnt contain dangerous goods. They will weigh the box and you pay a couple bucks in postage based on how heavy it is. If you're asking for books, please at least give us a genre to work with. Quote: Name:

The Would like to receive from line is there so that if anyone is nervous about WHO is going to have their address we can try as much as possible to fix it.

Interesting. I'm sure I can scrape enough money together to buy and mail a present. Just one thing - I don't currently know where I'll be moving at the end of November. If I can borrow a friends PO Box, I'll possibly just leave that address.
EDIT: My parents have agreed to allow me to use their PO Box, but have said if whatever I get sent is too heavy, they're not mailing it to me. Which probably means, no matter what I get, I'm going to have to wait until I visit them, or they visit me to get it. xd I don't care! Send what you can!

Would Like to Receive: The Complete Adventures of Curious George (Hardcover), a massive photo album or scrap book. The Number of the Beast - Iron Maiden, Garage, Inc. - Metallica. The thing about these two albums is, I don't want the CD's. I want the vinyl records.
If you're really stuck, get me a copy of The Crow by Allison Croggon. It's the third book in a series I'm reading.

EDIT: For clarity, NO I DO NOT WANT SOMEONE TO GET ME EVERYTHING ON THE LIST. But I thought I'd give you options. Something random and awesome is okay too, but it would make my LIFE if I got those records.
In regards to the albums: Some vintage shopping may be necessary to find them. A lot of vintage clothing stores have bins of records on the floor somewhere, they're not expensive it's just a matter of looking for them. Best chances are in second-hand music stores, not only do they tend to have a lot there, but the staff in them tend to know more about what they have in stock, they're better organized, and if you really want to you can haggle over the price. Used music stores also generally have a turntable that you can test the record on. You might by able to find them at the local Salvation Army, Value Village or Goodwill store, but in my record shopping experience they're less likely to carry enough records to make it worth the time of looking through them unless you know for sure the one you want is there. Don't knock it till you've tried it, looking for records can be really fun.

Would Like to Receive: Dozer art! But I'll take what I can get. I won't be too specific, because half of the fun of Secret Santa is figuring out what to get the person by gathering up clues without hinting that you're that person's Santa. Which, by proxy, means I'll probably not read this section of my person's application.
Would Like to Give To: Whim! Because I already have his address. But he doesn't like to recieve presents (stubborn b*****d) so I'll send to anyone, regardless of distance. I have no fear of the post office.

Would Like to Receive: Something fun -- colorful, entertaining, a souvenir sort of so I could look back and be all haha heeeey. Or, say, a toy. Action figures/dolls (betti spaghetti hurhur?), legos, toy trains or hotwheels ( heart ), little tiny games (like those ones full of water and you press buttons to push around little balls or something inside?), et cetera.
Oh and goats. Always goats. Plastic goats, plush goats, goats that sing, goats that dance. Real goats if you're willing. :V Hurhur naw.
Would Like to Give To: Mob or someone. The natural response would be one of my eclique chicka bow wow. But at the same time it'd be really fun to send to Dozer or someone equally as distantish to make them smile.

I haven't the foggiest. If I can word this right, i'd love to get something to remember the SS by, though. A cheap little quirky thing that I could only attribute to said SS and not, say, some random supermarket-value brand?
