Raleigh got a call about a nuisance at a major mall on a busy Saturday night. A team of mutants were going around. He needed to go NOW, he'd be debriefed when he got there.
For some reason, the debrief never came, and Raleigh had to go hunting on his own. It shouldn't be too hard, all he had to do was find out where everyone was running away from.
.... Errr... Running TOWARD. The disturbance seemed to be attracting people to go look. And the crowds were rolling in their laughter. A young man and woman were in the process of robbing a candy store... and seemed to be going through some weird Three Stooges type of accidents as they did so.
This couldn't be the place... Could it? Or perhaps it was. Perhaps the N.S.A. was mocking Raleigh.

The last mission had been a complete failure, as far as Raleigh was concerned, leaving him to train and mope around the house in a very un-Raleigh-like fashion. Ruri had soon smacked some sense into him, using a wet dishcloth across the head, and now he was ready to get back into the game.
No debriefing, no matter, he could still handle it. Upon arriving at the mall it hadn’t been hard to figure out the area of disturbance, the place was abuzz with laughter. As Raleigh approached he’d began to feel steadily more worried.
“Move.” He shoved his way through the crowd, digging in elbows when the giggling group refused to budge. “Get out of my way.”
…
This had to be some sort of joke, right? He watched the two people attempting to rob the candy store, both of them falling over their own feet on more than one occasion. The real enemy had to be around here somewhere. Or maybe he wasn’t…. and Raleigh was supposed to deal with this.
In any case, these people were trying to rob a place, no matter how badly they were doing it. They had to be stopped.
“Hey!” Raleigh stepped forward into the doorway of the shop. “What exactly do you think you’re doing?”
Were they even trying to rob the place? This could be some stupid publicity stunt.

"What does it LOOK like we're doing?" The woman grinned brightly at Raleigh. "We're robbing the candy store, DUH!" She grinned and bounced over to her brother, but promptly tripped over her feet. "OOMPH!"
The man grinned and laughed at that, skipping over to the woman to pick her up. "Stop being so silly, Mist!" He laughed, and promptly tripped over a candybar, falling on top of Mist. "Thanks for catching me, sis," he chuckled at her.
Mist huffed and pushed of her brother. "We're not doing so well," she confided to Raleigh. "My brother's a bit clumsy," she whispered.
"Hah!" The young man was tossing hands full of candy into the cheering crowd. "But IM more popular than you." He stuck out his tongue and unwrapped a lollipop. "Hmmm, banana! My favorite!" He cheered.
Mist pouted. "Awwwrrrr, but I wanted to be popular," she whined, and went after her brother when he skipped back into the store.

A very confused Raleigh stared at that bright grin, a frown slowly furrowing his brow. What. On. Earth?! This couldn’t possibly be real. These morons weren’t even really robbing the store; they just kept rolling around the place messing things up. He wouldn’t be surprised if the owner of the shop was apart of the laughing crowd.
This must be some sort of punishment. Someone had it out for him. Oh well. If that’s the way it was.
Raleigh sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. “You should stop.” He said loudly, hoping one of the two would listen. In his head the mantra began ‘I will not get angry, I will not get angry, I will not walk out of this place, I will not punch the nearest person, I am in complete control’.
They were like children. He just had to try speaking reason. And if that still didn’t work... Well, he’d have to just Yasuo their asses.

None of them pair heard him, they were chattering and laughing way too loudly. Mist was simply handing out handfuls of candy to the various gathered children while her brother, whose name was Dew, was dragging out big cloth bags, filled to the brim with candy.
"Miiiist!" Dew whined, "You're making me do all the wooooork!"
"No no, not at all!" Mist protested, "I'm HELPING our cause! Isn't that right?" she asked. The crowd was roaring with laughter, and several people just had to roll over the ground to try and stop doing so, nearly howling with laughter.
Dew plopped down on the ground and opened one of the bags. "Ain't moving until YOU do," he said stubbornly, munching on a few more candies.
Neither of them were even aware of Raleigh.

Upon watching the show for a further minute Raleigh decided that this was beneath him. Yes, he had lost his last battle, but that didn’t make him weak. He could not be expected to lower himself by attacking these two morons as they dragged away bags of candy. Either the mall security could deal with them or the stomachaches they would get from eating all those sweets would be punishment enough.
He turned to walk away and then turned back again, the mantra in his mind faltering. Raleigh strode over to where they were bickering playfully with each other, grabbing at one of the bags. “Look, I can’t let you just rob this store. So cut it out before I have to do something about it.”
Still calm and in control, but probably not for long.

Mist stared up at him, mouth slightly open in shock and contemplation, before she burst out into laughter. "YOU?" she laughed. "What on earth are you going to do?!"
Dew laughed along too. "He's just jealous! He wants to join in! You can, you know!" He was finding this absolutely hilarious and continued to throw over one of the bags, covering the ground with candy. "Help yourselves!" He called to the cheering mass of children. They promptly jumped forward and threw themselves on the candy, quite eager to eat as much as they could.

Raleigh was torn. Yes they were stealing, but they weren’t exactly hurting anyone and the kids were getting free lollies. Then again, she had just insulted him. Looking away he ignored them for a moment, his lips pressed into a thin, angry line.
Digging his hand into the bag beside him he brought out a handful of candy, which he promptly put in his pocket. For little Ai later on of course. “Look, I’ve been told to stop you.” He popped a little gummi bear in his mouth. “And I’m going too. But I’d rather not have to hurt anyone.”
That was a fair warning.

Dew shook his head, giving Raleigh a sympathetic smile. "Your bosses must be awful, man. Why would they sick a kid onto us? Don't you have seniors or something?"
"You took our candy!" Mist protested.

“Right.” Another gummi bear went down.
The furniture store a few doors down was just perfect. It reminded him of a time long ago when he had fought together with Erol. That had been the first time he had opened up to someone other than Ruri. Feeling rather nostalgic he concentrated on grabbing a few tables and bending them to his will.
It took three minutes in all. At first all Raleigh used to do was create a creature at random, based on what he needed at the time. Now he was learning how to pick and choose, deciding every little detail. This of course took more time, but he wasn’t exactly under pressure at the moment.
The two creations that came into being looked like a big cat. A tiger or lion. This was a much as test as anything else, since Raleigh usually made either dogs or some weird hybrid creature. But he’d reached the big cat chapter of his animal anatomy book and wanted to give it a shot.
The two wooden creatures quickly padded over, barrelling their way through the crowd to reach Raleigh’s side. Intimidation purposes only really.
“Okay. How about I let you grab one bag of candy and then you both leave? That way nobody gets hurt and I can tell my ‘bosses’ that I completed the job successfully.”

"Oooooh!" Mist said, looking with big eyes at the creatures. "You're an evolved !" she exclaimed gleefully and crawled over to the creatures to pet them. "So cute! And pretty!!"
"Hurt?" Dew asked, laughing. "Hurt us?"

“Yeah, I’m evolved and – Hey! They’re not supposed to be cute and- DAMNIT!” Raleigh had thought he’d become a calmer person, more capable of dealing with his problems but this was an utterly ridiculous scenario and it was really getting on his nerves.
The two creatures gave odd rumbling growls as Raleigh began to get seriously annoyed. “I can hurt you. I don’t want to but I damn well will. I have a job to do.” Running his fingers through his hair he glared at Dew (it was a lot harder to glare at the happily smiling Mist).

Dew raised an eyebrow. "You're going to hurt us by using those," he nodded to the creatures, "because we're giving out candy?" he sounded disbelieving and had every right to be. Their act in itself wasn't violent, it was merely amusing, as the crowd could attest to.
Speaking of which, the crowd was getting a bit restless, muttering and glaring at Raleigh about the disturbance. If he'd forcefully attack THEY would have something to say about it. A little girl was tugging on Raleigh's pants now and stared up at him with big brown eyes. "Sir going to hurt miss Mist and mister Dew?"

“Well, I –“ Raleigh shut his mouth and closed his eyes. “You have a point.” He sighed. He felt a tugging at his pants and so looked down. Oh dear god, puppy dog eyes. No choice. No choice at all.
“… No. I’m not.” Utter defeat! This was all Ai’s fault; he’d become completely defenceless against little children.
He gave a casual wave of his hand, causing the tiger’s to fall apart into piles of wood. They had been good practise anyway. He was happy with how they had turned out. “I’m getting out of here.” Raleigh looked over his shoulder at the unhappy, muttering crowd. “Anyone got a problem?”

The mood seemed to lighten now that a confrontation was averted. The little girl tugged on Raleigh's pants again, smiling widely up at him. "Thank you mister!" She promptly hugged his leg.
Mist looked a bit sad. "Aww, don't be like that! Here!" She heaved up one of the bags of candy and offered it to Raleigh. "Take this," she smiled.
Dew nodded eagerly. "Yeah, go on. Lets share! Sharing is good!" he grinned.
