This is a little unrelated to the guild and to gaia in general, but here goes.
For the past year or so, I've been the President of my college Gaming Society. I've done quite a bit to bump up the productiveness and community involvement of the society and have alot more I'd like to do. However, I've run into one major issue that is holding us back from literally EVERYTHING right now.
Nobody we have in our membership, nor that we can find as a helping hand to us, can make fliers/logos/banners/etc. for advertising. gonk So I've got all this awesome stuff we could do, but we have yet to be able to support it without the member numbers up. (We're self-funded as well, our only $ is from the $10 membership fees for the entire year)
Many of the people who seem to use this site know photoshop, and fairly well. Most the time, I don't require anything super great. Just fliers and handbills with the basic 'eye catching' quick informative things. I've got one logo that's working fairly well for us, though it could probably use some cleaning up by somebody who knows what they are doing.
The point is,....is there anyone here that would be willing to lend me their creative skills from time to time?
I can see what I can do to repay you for your help as well.

Here's the current logo we have. Nothing great really.  If you can come up with any better idea for a logo, let me know. It's kinda hard to come up with ideas that send off the right message about us.
I like this logo, but we don't currently play any consol games. Actually, we're not allowed to because we don't have the liscencing for them. The games we do play are boardgames, CCG's, RPG's, and Minitures(new to this year, thanks to myself ^_^).

The other logo I had made up by a guy we actually had sent into us cause I couldn't find anyone else. He had some good ideas, and on a paper drawing of what he thought up, it looked amazingly good. But when he Emailed it to me the next day...it's not so awesome. I not only couldn't have it put on a banner for us cause of the sizing of the photo, but he also made it only 75 pixels(or something like that)
If you think you can use this idea, only....make it work(lol), I would praise your attempt! We're getting pretty desperate for help.

I know photoshop, but I'm afraid I never studied graphics so I'm no good at designing logos and stuff. I can make banners..but that's about it where graphics is concerned..I'm more of a photographer sweatdrop what sort of graphics do you want? I presume it's stuff you can print out and put on flyers??
All I can suggest is maybe you could do with a logo that is a little less distracting? also I probably wouldn't put the pixelated things on there, like the ghosts from pac-man, cause if you can't play video games then I think it may send out the wrong message..but I dunno, it's just a thought.

I just need fliers at the time being. They need to look good in black and white as well. I also wouldn't mind having colored 11"x8" posters for the guys to put up on their dorm room doors. That's a big advertising perk. I already got the banner made with that first logo I posted. It looks really good actually.
Ya, I really don't like that second logo. It's really crappy.

I don't mind at all. School first. :nods: My midterms were a couple weeks ago, yet I still have 3 tests this week and another 2 next week and I had 2 last week, and 2 the week before, and 4 the week before that........Catch a pattern yet? I have alot of tests!!!!! gonk

What all do you want in the logo, or what are some of the things your club does? (Specificly the major games you play or types of games.)

Can you explain what CCG's, RPG's, and Minitures are? sweatdrop I think I know what you mean. RPG's for example could mean D&D or RPG video games.
