Exerpt from one of Hovind's websites

In this article, Hovind claims that no-one knows what light is, the light has been cooled to slow it down, and that the speed of light is not a constant.

It shows what a true dumbass he is, and how little he knows about accepted science. Light is hard to describe to laymen, but it is well understood. It is a probability wave, a self-propogating electromagnetic wave, and an intermediary particle, among other things.

Light can't be cooled. That's ridiculous. The medium through which light travels can be cooled, and with certain materials this can slow down the passage of light through the material.

The speed of light in a vacuum is a constant, but it isn't constant through a medium. It's always less than the speed of light in a vacuum than through a medium. That means, according to his argument, the universe can only possibly be older than it is.

Let everyone know about Kent Hovind. His arguments can only possibly damage the creationist camp.

I've seen Creationists EVERYWHERE quoting him as a means of prooving everything not Creationist as false. It sickens me to the point of fury.

Don't get angry. Do you want to get angry? No. When something happens you don't like, act rationally. Think, "What can I do to prevent this thing that has made me angry from happening again?" Analyse the situation and determine the best course of action based on previous experience.

I get angry but I don't act on it. I just sit back, calm down, and b***h slap them with so much data they're knocked senseless.

Yeah, it's hard to control your emotions. Reminds me... anger is associated with fire, which is why an angry post is called a flame. Nobody ever listens to flames...

This is the same guy that made a speech on how the Child vaccination program was a government conspiracy to kill us off, because of an overpopulation scare.

The vaccination for hepatitis B is from Satan. Vaccinations are from Satan. Vaccinations can kill you. They are part of the depopulation conspiracy masterminded by Satan.

Also, he recieved a diploma from Patriot University, a corrospondence school.

And has fallen for several Evolutionists tricks planted for him to hold up as proof of the flood.

The problem isn't the creationist nonsense itself...It's the the vast majotrity of people aren't educated enough to see through the volume of crap the throw out.

Most creationist claims are obviously bogus to anyone with a tiny bit of scientific education... which too few people have.

The only real solution to these people is not b***h slapping them with more science, which they can't understand or differentiate from the bogus crap the creationists spew, it's to educate them.

A practical impossibility unfortunatly.

The never ending plight of the educated and enlightened: to be stomped on by the armed and stupid.

Well, it doesn't have to be that way.

It's quite easy to imagine a society of very clever people. A bunch of peers could, for example, get together and build a space colony.

The trouble is in maintaining such a society. I doubt it could be done! If a society starts out the way you want it, it soon changes and then it can only get worse from there.

Well, wouldn't the ideal society would be one that deals with upcoming issues by deciding, rationally, what would be best?- a society that changes whenever it needs to, because, the best design (for a society, or life) is one that can change.

Actually, I'm thinking that if, in school, people could be educated in critical thinking and logical debate, then people would be a hell of a lot less credulous, and therefore less ignorant.

Indeed. His $250k offer is kind of funny, in a way, because it doesn't really have anything to do with the theory of evolution. I've heard that 'Answers in Genesis' is quite unhappy about Hovind's dishonest tactics.

No such thing as an objectively ideal society. Nazi Germany was Hitler's ideal society.

We'd educate our children to be capable of critical thinking, but what kind of advantage would that have to someone who considered the wording of the Bible to be morally good, and anything which suggests that the Bible is wrong is evil?

Logical arguments can't unfortunately get you very far. You have to shove science and logic down people's throats, and ban the teaching of ideas which have no basis in reality. I don't like it, but it's regrettably the only way.

Yes, sad isn't it. You'd think mountains of proof would be enough, wouldn't you.

Well, if their opinion was valid, they should be able to explain why they think the Bible is morally good.
It probably wouldn't be very advantageous to those people, but, I don't suppose they would be able to argue against teaching of critical thinking very well, if it was presented in a non-anti-bible way.
For example, maybe a logic and reasoning subdivision of mathematics, or something.
Who would listen; if they protested--"No! They're going to be evil if they learn how to rationally assess ideas!"

There is no reason why people think that the word of the Bible are morally good. You see, if they were to question their beliefs, then it would be eroding their faith; which is evil. (According to them)

It's like Satan trying to tempt Jesus. You've just got to bury your head in the sand and refuse to question what you believe in.

This is how religions perpetuate their existence. The religious people like to pretend that they've chosen the right religion, but actually, they have no say in the matter. Religions are viral entities because they manipulate other systems- us- to spread and continue to exist.
