Ok, so I was looking through the guild, and the Subjective Opinion threads, and it seems like the guild might have been a little too skeptical lately. And so, to enforce my opinion that the guild, which I think is fun as hell, with great people, but ultimately is accepting of anything genuine given without BS, and is about the metaphysical, I made this thread. Here, if you carry any secrets, ideas, or experiences you think normally wouldn't be accepted, if you truely feel you would be the same without these special things, but have them anyway, this is the thread for you. Anyone who shares something here is to be taken at face value, no questioning or calling s**t. So don't abuse this, please.
I guess I should start off. I almost never share about myself personally, especially in a metaphysical sense, because I am a private person, I hate being doubted, I feel some people might not respect me if I share my full range of what I consider my experiences, and because I never want to seem like a fluffy for attention.
But this is for trust, so here goes.
I've seen a ghost. It was at night, going through my friend's "haunted" barn with a few other people, and the feeling was terrible. It was one of the most frightening things in my life. I tried shielding, magic, calming breathing, didn't do a damn thing. Took me getting the hell out of there, and sitting inside for 10 minutes under lighting to calm down. I did, however, get to play the Knight in shining armor to a girl who I kinda sorta got with, so I guess it was all good.
Anyway, metaphysics. I believe in reincarnation. I believe I have had past lives, some not of this Earth. I believe in a past life I may have lived somewhere far away, as nobility. I'm very proud of that, but I don't feel it makes me any more special of a person. So I only bring it up with those I trust.

Baron von Turkeypants Pray tell, what does "too skeptical" mean? Hah, nothing for you, Mr. Science. But for us, as a magick, paranormal guild, too skeptical becomes falling off the basic premise that "Yeah, these things are real, and we're talking about them like they are."

I believe in reincarnation, I have memory things that make me question my own sanity, and I'm overly skeptic at times... sweatdrop My reincarnation experiences say "sulegna muidimid ouner mus oge". And my girlfriend used to get posessed a lot and I had to save her; always the one getting help... stare

While people here think I'm probably a skeptic of almost everything, let it be known that I do believe in reincarnation (even if I don't believe one can remember their past lives), karma and supernatural beings. I even believe I have seen ghosts and possibly a demon myself.
The only reason I am a skeptic is because of some of the things that happen to people here are a bit far fetched, and the frenquency with which these far fetched things happen. Not everyone here lies, I know this. But some people do enjoy the little fib.

I personally think someone would have to post something similar to my... um... "interests" before I talk on more than just what I've come to this guild for. sweatdrop
Also, I wouldn't know if I would be the same "without" things... I've often thought what would have happened with me were I living with my dad instead of mom for all those years...
Personally... to try to talk to people about my views of things, some of which I can easily tell sometimes are "disturbing" or perhaps only tedious, is to see what their view is and get a sense of thier idea on the subject. Concerning one view of mine... I believe I'm otherkin. It started from a dream and a few other thoughts and perceptions I suspect. Friends of mine never did tell me it was werong to believe... so... yeah 0 sweatdrop

I love this thread. I believe that there is magick in anything you put your mind to - you can divine with tarot cards, tea leaves, keys, coins, the way birds fly, the logos on the backs of people's shirts as you're walking down the street, the words people say off-handedly, the way your TV remote falls when you ask it where your keys are... Similarly, you can find a magickal use for an athame, a wand, a pestle and mortar, a cigarette, a pocketwatch, a bulletproof vest, a dead fox, a radio, a TV, a newspaper, a train ticket... Maybe not all at once, but there's potential in everything. I believe any given even happening in your life will be/is/was significant in regards to a thematically related subject in your life. In short, I believe in synchronicity, and that it happens a lot more than we realise, only we don't have the mindset to watch every little occurence in our lives in order to learn more about symbolically similar events. John Constantine is my magickal hero.
Not entirely fluffy, but even so. >.>

Baron von Turkeypants by the way, what's fluffy? Good question. Fluffy, in my opinion, is an occultic person's term for someone or some fact that is non-solid and most likely false. Since anyone can say stuff that makes sense, but isn't real, the term fluffy is necessary. Otherkin for instance, anyone can say "I'm half elf, half angel, and half therian were-cat!" then by one's logic alone they can reply "That makes you an improper fraction, fluffbunny" Fluffy:adj. fluff·i·er, fluff·i·est 1. a. Of, relating to, or resembling fluff. b. Covered with fluff. 2. Light and airy; soft: fluffy curls; a fluffy soufflé. 3. a. Light or frivolous: a fluffy musical comedy. b. Lacking depth or precision; fuzzy Fluff: n. 1. Light down or fuzz, as on a young bird or on a dandelion or milkweed seed. 2. Something having a very light, soft, or frothy consistency or appearance: a fluff of meringue; a fluff of cloud. 3. Something of little substance or consequence, especially: a. Light or superficial entertainment: The movie was just another bit of fluff from Hollywood. b. Inflated or padded material: The report was mostly fluff, with little new information. 4. The parts of a junked car that are not metal and cannot be recycled. 5. Informal An error, especially in the delivery of lines, as by an actor or announcer. v. fluffed, fluff·ing, fluffs v.tr. 1. To make fluffy: fluff a pillow; a squirrel fluffing out its tail. 2. Informal a. To ruin or mar by a mistake or blunder: They fluffed their chance to participate in the playoffs by losing their last three games. b. To forget or botch (one's lines). v.intr. 1. To become fluffy. 2. Informal To make an error, especially to forget or botch one's lines. I consider fluffy people to be the people who base their beliefs on nothing but a fall through-able faith that doesn't make sense. for instance; a lot of skeptics consider every single person who believes in the pseudo-science of psionics to be fluffy, but by most of our own personal experience we know a little better. What is fluffy to one person is not to another.

I think, then, the fundamental difference is that skeptics don't trust their own experiences while occultists do, as a general rule?

well might as well share a story of mine i dont expect anyone to belive/ am embaressed about.
there is this girl in my school. i dont know her name, i only remember her face. i swear under any god she was in my old school district and was best friends with me in my grade but i moved away. so now same face diffrent school and shes a grade or two below mine.
now in school i occasionaly see that girl and when im anywhere near her i get a feeling like the living s**t is being scared out of me. i remember her name being sarah, but i never have the balls to ask her her name becuase i feel absolute terror when shes in teh same room/hallway with me. sometimes i have dreams, shes there and i wake up cold sweat screaming. once in a while i get that feeling when somehting horrible is about to happen mixed with the feeling that someon is watching me, i turn around and there she is not 6 feet away from me.
i honestly dont know why i would be scared of her. i rarely get emotional and i rarely get scared, and i dunno what it is about her but if shes in teh same hall as me ill walk all the way around teh section avoiding her and run to my class.

I, too, believe in reincarnation. Some memories of my past lives slowly formulate themselves over time, but I don't necessarily believe that they are genuine. But I do believe there is more to this world than what current science tells us; after all, there are new scientific developments every day [exaggeration]. But there is always the shadow of the belief that there is more than meets the eye.
I myself have no claims that couldn't be explained, from once hearing a demon's voice threatening me while I was in a dream-like haze, to visions of my past lives that were like flashes of the mind's eye. Aside from that, I'm rather good at interpreting Tarot readings given to me. I have a friend who does the actual reading, drawing the cards and telling the meanings and such, but I tend to always find a link in them to my own life. Whether Tarot is mystical or not, I don't know; but it sure gets me thinking about my life stance in general.
And I have faith. I can be a rather zealous believer, it used to be YHWH, now it's Luminor.
But yeah...rambling.
