Who: Hemi & Xianthe
What: bake sale without the sale!
When: Sometime after Hemi & Xanul. Maybe by a few days.
(I'm pretty sure that would make it after things are straightened up between Ed & Al... I hope. O_o)

Where: Kitchen at Realm HQ
Why: For fun!

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Doot doot doot. The wizard/healer padded into the kitchen at headquarters in a pretty good mood. And a pretty adventurous mood. Well, random do-gooder mood at any rate. Not so adventurous he wanted to use his mother's kitchen. Or the one at home. Especially if Miaka found out he wanted to back cookies. For everyone. So the kitchen at Realm HQ was the best bet. He was going to bake so many cookies and so many types, the HQ would look like it was having a bake sale. He giggled, shaking the magic bag he carried from his neck onto the floor. He had brought tons (almost literally. thank the kitsu gods for magical bags of holding) of extra ingredients being fair certain the kitchen would not be stocked for the sheer numbers of cookies he intended to bake.

Chocolate tails wagged as he measured and poured and made batch after batch of cookies, the aroma starting to drift out the kitchen door & throughout HQ as the cookies baked to perfection. He was getting a good amount of them finished, stacked up on special cooling rack trays to cool. Smiling, Hemi munched on a chocolate chip cookie of the first batch while working on dark chocolate with cranberries for the current batch. Oh yes, it was a cookie day.

Cookies, eh? Suffice to say, Xianthe hadn't intended on swinging by HQ for that purpose, if at all, really. No, the Nobody instead had gone out to find somewhere or someone that sold something vaguely reminiscent of sea-salt ice cream, having become a fan of it back during the time she went off to Twilight Town. There was a faint memory of the reason for the trip being to find Roxas, but, as time went by, the illusionist scoffed at the idea of going after one of the Organization; she had better things to do, after all, like staking claims on a masterless castle, changing her name, that fun stuff.

Heading out also meant a chance to freely test her skills without interruption, or, well, at first, anyways, until she had attracted the attention of a few stray cats. Now that she thought about it, what were stray cats doing out here? This didn't seem like a place for them to hang out, unless it was like with the Kanu, and they simply made themselves at home wherever food was. In the end, either they were descendants of some big cat race around here, or at some point, someone, be it human or kitsu, had introduced the felines to this region.

"Go away," the Nobody hissed to the strays, not particularly interested in them getting at her ice cream nor the catnip she had tucked away in one of her coat's pockets, among the other things stowed away in there; she meant to clean her jacket at one point or another, especially since she was sure that at least one box of crayons had melted, but, well, it was too time-consuming, in her opinion. Nevermind that she hadn't the slightest clue how to wash clothes in the first place, aside from getting others to do it. People seemed more willing to do such things if she acted more like the child she looked, Xianthe deduced a long time ago.

In any case, shaking her head irritably, the girl shooed away one particular stray that had wandered too close, as it had begun to play with the beads in her hair, something she had coerced Tuuli into doing, as hairstyling wasn't something Xianthe majored in, aside from wearing cat hairclips (how did it manage to climb onto her shoulder, anyways?), and, by the time she had reached HQ, was now feline-free, with the exception of her illusions, anyways.

Hm...was that the smell of something baking coming from the cabin? Curious, and particularly interested in scoring some free sweets, the Nobody slipped inside the building, glancing around as she attempted to figure out what led where. At first, she thought to simply stand there, to simply shout in a general direction and see who came calling, but, figuring she may as well look into seeing if the chef was around, Xianthe found her way to the kitchen, stopping in the doorway as she regarded the figure inside; what was his name again? Oh, yes- Hemi.

"What're you baking all those cookies for?" she asked.

Hemi turned at the voice, tray of cookies ready to go into the oven hovering halfway to the open cooking device, his ash wand held tightly in his right paw. His baby blue eyes sparkled to match his grin and his chocolate tails continued to wag. "Oh hi Xianthe! How are you doing?"

He moved his wand, sending the tray to the oven then shutting the door. Another flick and he set the timer before starting on another batch of cookies. It was not quite the magical display as if Ginny were cooking a meal, but it was only cookies after all & Hemi was neither as good of a cook nor as good with his magic. "Why you mean?" The wizard shrugged with a sweet grin. "Just wanted to do some baking & thought everyone might like some cookies."

A few more ingredients and he set the spoon to stirring. "Didja want some?" Hemi waved a paw at the batches cooling on the racks.

"Uh. Fine. Annnnd...Fine," Xianthe replied, after a bit of pause; she really didn't have much else to say that she wished to be heard by anyone, really, unless Hemi wanted to hear about the stray cat hoard from earlier. She had to wonder if anyone, other than perhaps Tuuli, would be interested in hearing about that. That kit was full of conspiracy theories left and right, only, to her, it was all a matter of evil witches and kings and the like, rather than the thought that perhaps a group of Nobodies might be secretly rooting for her to off herself, as Xianthe had become convinced of once upon a time.

While it wasn't as much of a magical display as it would with anyone else, the Nobody still watched, not particularly wowed by any means, but still fairly intrigued enough to be an audience. In short, while she wasn't in awe over the flying tray of cookies, it had captured her attention for a brief moment, before the lavender-haired illusionist turned her focus back to Hemi, giving the other a bit of an incredulous look.

"Everyone?" she repeated, half questioning, half stating, "What do you mean, everyone?" What, did he go and send out little invitations in the mail, inviting the kitsu to a little bake party? Or did he just come from a large family, or, ah, was part of a large collective group? Not that she saw anyone else, anyways.

Still, an offer was an offer, and far be it for the illusionist to turn down free treats. "I can have one?" Xianthe asked, feeling a need to confirm things before helping herself. Permissions and such were just such nasty little things to work out, after all, in her opinion, not that it had ever mattered much back when she was part of Organization XIII.

"How are you making those trays move on their own?" the illusionist suddenly asked; if it had been explained before, the girl certainly had forgotten now.

Hemi blinked in astonishment. Who everyone indeed? Then he grinned, tails wagging once more. "Everyone who might stop by headquarters, of course. Which can be a lot. It's gonna end up being first come first serve of course." Hemi shrugged, the notion not seeming to bother him. Then he smiled again. "Sure you can have one! Unless you're allergic or soemthing. I wouldn't have offered them otherwise!"

He nearly missed her question, not being accustomed to such a thing. Everyone in his family & extended family knew about wizard magic. "Huh? This? Just a simple wizard spell. A Charm really. Wingrdium Leviosa -the floating or levitating charm." The male gave a sheepish look. "Wizard magic."

"So..."

The illusionist made vague motions with her paws, attempting to finish her train of thought; Xianthe was beginning to think that living with Tuuli made her a tad more...well, it knocked off a few IQ points, that was for sure. "There's a lot of others coming?"

That didn't make sense; Hemi certainly didn't invite anyone in particular, and, yet, he was baking enough cookies to feed Tuuli's imaginary army? The boy must really love cooking, she concluded silently. Taking up on the offer of cookies, now that permission had been granted, Xianthe gathered up a pawful of the treats, finding that it was less than she would have managed to grab if she had had hands. Oh well; perhaps Kitsu didn't eat as much, or perhaps she could coerce Tuuli into also taking a stab at making dinner. "Thanks," the Nobody said, nibbling on one of her cookies.

Xianthe quirked an eyebrow at Hemi's explanation, her illusion feline companions also momentarily intrigued (though their attention had been on the floating trays, not either of the Kitsu, as cats tended to be interested in movement in things small enough to catch). A wizard? Now where had she heard that term before?

...Aside from Tuuli's storybooks, anyways, or the video games Xianthe had taken an interest in playing.

"You mean like Merlin?" the female finally spoke up, thinking of the wizard that lived in Radiant Garden, "That stuff? So you're one, too?"

He shrugged, still grinning and starting on another batch. "Probably. Sooner or later. I'll leave the cookies for whoever comes by when I leave. Mom & Aunt Ginny used to do it all the time with real meals, but I only like to bake. Sometimes." His eyes twinkled. as if this was something very funny. "Though if Miaka finds out there's cookies here they won't last very long."

He grinned as she took a pawful of cookies. "You're welcome!" Chocolate tails wagged happily.

"Hm? Merlin? The guy with King Arthur? Well I guess that depends on what you believe. There's a lot of books that say a lot of different things on the guy. Some even say he's part fairy or something. But in the way we can do magic, I guess it's close enough. In my family there's a lot of wizards & witches."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 01, 2007 1:18 am

"Who's Miaka?" Xianthe asked, a bit lost with all of these foreign names, "Or Aunt Ginny...any of those people?"

She continued nibbling on her cookie, thinking; so this Miaka would eat the cookies if she found them, eh? Best to look into getting a carryout box, then, with however many cookies the Nobody could snag, Xianthe thought. No use in taking chances, after all.

"These are good," Xianthe told him, taking a bite out of her second cookie. At Hemi's answer in regards to Merlin, though, the illusionist tilted her head, a tad confused. Books?

"What do you mean, 'what you believe'?" the childlike Nobody asked, nearly demanding, "I just saw the old quack a month or so ago, when I stopped by Radiant Garden. There some other guy out there going by the name Merlin or something?"

"But it runs in your family?" she continued, "That kinda sounds like something else I know, though I guess you wouldn't, less you've heard of things like Halloween Town and the Maka...Makanu...the Kanu."

Ah, Xianthe; she tried hard, and still mispronounced important names.

"Miaka & Ginny live in the same place as me. So they're kinda my aunts. Kinda." He laughed, knowing his family life could be very confusing to outsiders. Especially if he went into the non-kitsu 'family', which he did not intend to do.

But then he blinked at the Nobody. "Radiant Garden? Quack?" Okay... those had the healer-wizard more than a tad confused. He put down the tray of cookies he was levitating so he would not drop it."I mean... well there's lots of stories out there about Merlin. Even in our wizard books. Some say he worked magic like me & my family do. Others say it was different. About the only consistencies are that he was tight with the legendary Arthur one way or another."

He was nodding about it running in his family. "Uh-huh. Most of us can do the wizard magic anyway. Only a few of us have Mom's healing though. Ayako's the best at that. I've no idea what you're talking about with Halloween Town. A whole town dedicated to Halloween? I've heard that's a fun holiday. Mysidia loves it, but then all numas do she says. Candy & costumes & things." His tails were wagging excitedly. "I'm really looking forward to Halloween! It'll be my first! & Lily's too!" He seemed a little surprised at the realization of the second. Why, his siblings were so much older than he was, but even they weren't over a year old yet! Sometimes he forgot that.

"They're your aunts...because they live in the same place as you?" Xianthe questioned, frowning; by this logic, the entire household where she lived was related to her, which wasn't a very pleasant thought, considering whom she shared living space with. Just the idea of being a pseudo-relation to Tuuli, even, made her shudder with a bit of a mixture of fear and disgust.

"Radiant Garden's...um...well, it was a world I visited. And stuff. And there's someone named Merlin who lives there, who's a wizard, and whatnot," the illusionist explained, though it wasn't a very decent explanation, "So that's why I asked."

"And Halloween Town's a world, sorta; there's also Christmas Town and, um...I think an Easter Town, and stuff, but I always thought of it as a world. We have a giant clock that counts down the days until the next Halloween, and there were always big celebrations and stuff on that day," she told him, "I used to come from a tribe of 'cat people' that lived there, that were illusionists."

Con artists, primarily, and thieves, as well, but still- illusionists. Xianthe left out the part about how territorial they were, and how, thusly, she had never returned to her clan after becoming a Nobody.

She also left out the part about being an idiot, along with other young members of her race, which had led to her losing her heart in the first place.

At Hemi's mention of it being his first Halloween, though, the girl faltered slightly. "Your first...Halloween?" she inquired, looking confused, "How can you miss out on such a wonderful holiday like that?"

Xianthe pondered slightly, before nodding. "If it's your and uh...this Lily's first Halloween, though, it'll have to be extra-spectacular, then!"

Hemi shrugged, giving her a smile as he picked up on her discomfort at the notion. Not his house, but hers... still he did not like to cause discomfort. "Kinda. More because they're older than me. Of my Dad's generation you could say so they helped raise us some. So they're aunts... of a sense. Though Miaka's more like a sister..." He laughed warmly, thinking of the perpetually hungry, clumsy & cheerful priestess. Miaka was fun.

His brow furrowed as he contemplated her 'other worlds' and coming from a tribe of 'cat people'... it sounded of 'befores' and truthfully, Hemi was not in the mood for that kind of deep thinking. So he filed the information away for another time and went on to the Halloween topic. That was more exciting anyway.

"Well... 'cause I wasn't born yet." He grinned youthfully at the Nobody. "I didn't hatch until April. Lily -she's my oldest sister- and her litter weren't conceived until after Halloween last year, but at least they got to see Christmas. I'm looking forward to that too." Chocolate tails whaped excitedly against the counter. He really was looking forward to the Holidays. "And I'm sure it will be spectacular! The house is already starting to get ready!"
PostPosted: Wed Oct 03, 2007 9:00 pm

"Oh. I see, I think," Xianthe answered, though she really wasn't too sure of it, honestly. At least this was just a family thing, for Hemi's family, and not something every last Kitsu out there came to think. Unfortunately, it didn't change the fact that Tuuli lived with her, despite the lack of a relation, and, thus, her mood remained a tad sour for a few more minutes.

When it came to the subject of Halloween again, however, the illusionist's eyes lit up. True, she came from a town whose idea of a Halloween celebration wasn't exactly something you'd find in a Hallmark or Lifetime or whatchamacallit movie (a bit more twisted, in a way, all things considering), but the girl was always interested in hearing how others were planning to spend their Halloween.

"They're getting ready?" she asked, "How so? Is it anything exciting? I'd like to see!"

"If any help's needed," the Nobody continued, "I know a thing or two about how to decorate for Halloween."

"Just the main room really. Maree won't let anyone set up anything in her gardens, and Myr says no one's stopped by the house on Halloween since she did. We're kinda off the beaten track which is great most of the time." Hemi really seemed to love talking about his home. "Anyway... we have spiderwebs and jack-o-lanterns some really real looking bats, this ghost thing that makes noise when you pass it -we have to turn it off at 8 when Theron goes to bed- and um... I forget. There were some other things though..." The male looked a bit perplexed as he switched the cookies.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 06, 2007 10:25 am

What? No real decorating? And the house wasn't frequented by trick-or-treaters? How...disappointing, or boring, even. Not that living off the beaten path wasn't awesome, given that Xianthe enjoyed the idea of living somewhere a bit away from the main portion of civilization, but still!

The thought crossed the Nobody's mind to con some Kitsu into decorating HQ (nevermind that she had no permission), or the home she lived at, and was stored in the back of her mind for later use.

"So you don't really have any big parties or anything?" Xianthe inquired, frowning, eating another cookie, "Hm..."

"Big Parties?" Hemi seemed to be giving it some thought. "Not really. I mean, when the whole family is together that's a pretty huge gathering as it is. Sometimes we have friends over... but nothing like a party."

He pouted lightly, tails slowing just a bit. Now that Xianthe mentioned it a party did sound fun. But it was hard enough trying to get his blood kin together all at once. Now with Ayako & Saix's kits & Vynnessia & Sesshoumaru's eggs or even seeing Uncle Xigbar & Aunt Noko or any of their kits other than Bryna... well it was tough. And right now Hemi was just glad Liliana & Edward were back, and that Talagand was back, bringing the sweet little Aiko home with him. It was like a party, with everyone home.

"Maybe I'm missing something. If there were a big party, what would you say it should be like?"
