We finally had a chance to see Ozai's face. Was anybody else surprised? I kept imagining some very serious-looking guy. Someone more like a older male version of Azula. But he turns out to look, I don't know, gentle-like.

Was anybody else surprised by this? What did you think?

I was let down, a little. I was expecting this HUGE, plot-changing facial feature. Like, a scar, or blue eyes, or he looked NOTHING like Zuko/Azula/Iroh. But... it was just... him. -___-

I mean, I understand why it's been shadowed all this time, it's like symbolism. It's a change in Zuko's perception of his father. He's no longer the Big Bad Fire Lord, he's his father.

It's just disappointing, I guess.

On a second watching of it, though, it struck me how much he looked like Iroh. I don't know why I was so surprised, they ARE brothers. But... I dunno. It's just strange. It's unexpected.

yes omg, i was like "DUDE! ozai's face is too nice! i mean, you always see him with all the fire, i expected him to be more intense!" i got a few stares from my 9-year-old sister, but its so true.

He's quite tranquil for a fire bender. It makes me want to hug him and say 'sorry, but Aang is gonna whip you really badly'.

Well, you've gotta remember, he's Azula's father. He may appear to be calm, but we all know he's as bat-s**t crazy and conniving as his daughter.

Y'know, I was kidding a long time ago in the "Scenes from a Hat" thread about Katara running up to the Fire Lord, big-eyed and in awe, and saying "Let me have bear children," but after seeing his face I'm almost willing to bet money on that actually happening.

I was surprised to see how young he is O.o I was expecting like grey hair or something xd And ya a bit more like a warrior I guess he wouldn't look like that though being a king and all that. Meh he just struck me as weird. His neck is too big for one thing xd And I didn't think he looked like Iroh for some reason O.o I thought he looked more like zuko =o Which makes sense XP I can see Aang having a problem with fighting him at the end though so this should be interesting! :O

Just think of all of the bad things he's done though.
An appearance doesn't change any of that.
All this has done is shown us that he loves his family, at least to some extent.
Maybe business and stuff comes first, but he can be gentle too.
He has two different personalities.
In the end, he's a lot like Azula.
Innocent when he needs or wants to be, but evil at almost all times.

I was glad he wasn't old and stuff.
If he was old, it would pose an easier battle for Aang (unless he's like Bumi).
The battle they have has to be enormous.
I guess he and Iroh are far apart in age, too.
His resemblance to Iroh also might pose a problem for Aang too.
Especially if Iroh teaches Aang to bend fire.

I'm also glad he's a bit handsome.
It's like Zuko. You see both sides of the story.
Sure, the Fire Lord isn't going to start giving Aang cookies, but we get to see that the bad guy isn't always...
