You can find Alexander in the character forum. And he, of course, lives in a world. o.O
Anyway, I'm having a difficult time making this world of his. I think I'll end up basing it a lot on the various worlds of the Legend of Zelda series. Except, you know, money doesn't pop out of the grass...
The lay of the land so far: Alex and Ira live in a rather large village for this particular world. There are well-built cabin-style houses, a well(mostly for show and watering the animals), and a market. On the outskirts there's a small forest and a large pond. It's a pretty safe place to live, really. There's one real road going through the village that leads somewhere...
On the plains a bit away from the village there are ruins from the time in which the continent was ruled by kings. Castles, old battlefields, etc. Most people avoid these rather erie places, prefering to stay in the safety and comfort of the villages.
Inner and Outer Market.
There are two layers to the market in Alex's village. Inner market is where all the permanent shops owned by the villiage-folk are. It's pretty calm most of the time, and things are sold such as food and services. Outer market is busier and full of people from other villages and foreign lands, selling strange and unique items.

how is the weather? does it matter?
do the villagers pay overlords? what is the government like in your world?

Weather is... average. It takes place in a short amount of time, probably spring, so the seasons could vary greatly, but I don't know.
There isn't much of a government. Alex explains later on to the guy who looks suspiciously like Link that after the time of kings ended, there was a period of chaos, followed by a long period of peace, and the people started just taking care of themselves. There's a sheriff in the village who's job is mostly to deal with Alex when he steals things.

can you write more about the market? is it a big deal, (where people come from all around) or is it more local and not really an important part of your story?
i like markets because they bring new characters and more opportunities for characters to change ^^; but a market could also mean nothing but a chance for gossip (which could also be a good arena for divulging character infos biggrin )

haha, how fun! that's gonna be a cool scene to write, i can feel it. sort of an 'aladdin and jasmine but in reverse' thing. yay!! good luck. post it somewhere so i can read it when you've got it typed! 4laugh
