Age: Late teens... somewhere...
Hair: Short. Odd shade of blonde, almost green.
Eyes: hazel
A sweet girl who becomes somewhat smitten with Alexander. Boy is she in for a let-down. xp
She seems to see him as some sort of hero, even though he kees tellig her he's not. She likes to help people, and play with the local children.
Yes, I know, she sounds like a Mary-Sue in the making. FEAR NOT! She's far from perfect. >>

I don't know. Oddly enough, she's not a very... what's the word... prominent? character. She's kind of like Zelda, actually. -.- You see her at the beginning, the end, and maybe a couple times between, but not much.

for lesser characters it's ok to not have a substantial development, but does she change at all? does she learn anything by the end of the story?

Well.... if by change, you mean "Does some dude cast a spell to make her evil so that she kills Alex at the end of the story" then yes. sweatdrop

Yes. She stabs him, and he's like "Wha....? *dies*" and then she snaps out of it and is all like "Noooo! WHY?! *cries*"
Obviously it's deeper than that, but you get the idea...

aww sad ending!
so i have to ask, what happens to alex to make him leave (i'm assuming he leaves the village) and why doesn't ira follow? (read: why isn't she a prominent character?)

Have you been to the plot sub-forum?
A spell is cast over the village, making everyone evil. Basically they're like Alex in a bad mood, times ten! And it slowly gets worse. But something about the mutation that gives Alex the red spot in his eye absorbed the spell, and it rarely surfaces. But when it does, it's worse than the others because it gets built up. His iris with the spot turns completely red when it happens.
A stranger from another continent comes through the village shortly after the spell is cast and realizes what's happened. He explains to Alex on their journey to find a counter spell that his home was less peaceful, and such things happened there all the time. Anyway, he convinces Alex to come with him to the plains to search the ruins for a counter spell.
So, to answer your question more simply: She doesn't go with him because she's EEEEVIIILLLL!!!
Ah, but interesting. And I leave this to carrier pigeons... While traveling, even though he knows she's currently evil, Alex writes to Ira, telling her about his adventure. Which kind of leads to his death.

What might be interesting is if he really turns out to be the bad guy so that he's not exactly lying about being a hero.

Well, she's kind of an air head, for one. Since Alex continuously tells her he doesn't like her, but she doesn't really get it. And she's EEEEEVIIIILLLL!!!
