Desideria (large picture)Carrying her golden scepter in her mouth, Desideria slowly stepped from the shadows beneath the trees into the clearing. The sunlight filtered through the leaves of the nearby trees, creating scattered patterns on the dusty brown ground beneath her blue paws. That same ethereal light played off of the female's golden crown and the blue jewel in her scepter. The jewel threw prisms of a rich blue light upon the ground, staining them as if with paint. She stood as a queen surveying her country, authority flowing from her posture and spilling from her eyes. Slowly settling down in the clearing, Desideria closed those same eyes and allowed herself to bask in the warm daylight.

[ BAM!] And wandering though that same forest, but with eyes that would never open, was Orez, slightly irked by the trees casting warmpth next to shadow and making it hard to determine if he was heading further in or finding his way out of the maze of trees. However, he never had a misstep resulting in an encounter with a tree to his face.
Orez met a face full of warm sun with a welcome, and the breeze blowing through his mane and long tail indicated to him that he was out of that dreadful forest, or at least in a clearing, but "at least a clearing" would do for now.

The sound of other approaching footsteps alerted Desideria. Who dared to approach her? Curiousity as well as slight reproach filled the female and slowly caused her eyes to open. Sitting up, she settled into an authoritatitve pose and surveyed her surroundings. Her amber eyes rapidly caught sight of someone exiting the treeline. Interest sparkled in her eyes and she rose. Taking her scepter into her mouth, she approached the bluish gray other. She paused a few feet away, slightly miffed by the fact that the male had yet to acknowledge her presence. Is there something wrong with his eyes? she wondered aggrogantly. Managing to keep those rather negative emotions to herself she quietly spoke a greeting. "Hello there. What brings you to this part of the forest?"

Orez turned his head at a slight angle, showing quite plainly the stitches that held him in endless darkness. "Hm?" He asked and continued, "Oh, I was just trying to find my way, ironic, though. I could be going in circles and never realize it, wandering endlessly through the dark forest...." He turned his head back to its origional direction as he seemed to trail off in a mystic thought.

Desideria noted the stitches on the others eyes and quickly noticed the irony of her past thoughts. Slight embarrassment ruffled her. She was vain, but had not intended to seem cruel. Now glad that she had not spoken her thoughts aloud earlier, her voice took on a more polite tone. "Were you trying to find a specific place? I know this area of the forest fairly well and could lead you, if you wanted." Her voice filled with, not pity, but respect. Despite the obvious dificulties facing this ulaya, he continued to speak with dignity and eloquence. She chose her words carefully, so as not to seem as though she were being condescending. It was rather unfortunate that he could not actually see her though. Suddenly realizing her lack of ettiquette, the proud female approached the other and swiftly introduced herself. "I'm so sorry for not mentioning this earlier. My name is Desideria and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintence. Please allow me to assist you in any way that is necessary." She said this with practiced grace, her tone becoming a bit more formal than it had been the first time she offered her assistence. The crowned one then awaited the other's response as patiently as possible.

Orez turned his head again to "look" at her. Once more, he said "Hm? No, no, that's quite all right, I'll be fine on my own, Desideria, was it? I'm Orez, nice to meet you," bowing his head in respect, hoping it was in the right direction. "Though," he paused, thinking carefully, "as brash as it may seem, I do have a gnawing hunger hiding here....." His long tail swished once, twice, and a third time before it came to a stop in mid-air, as though anticipating a growl of hunger.

Desideria smiled softly at the other's admittance. "It is nice to meet you as well, Orez." she said softly. His slight bow pleased her immensely. It appeared that she had been correct in her analysis of this other; he truly was someone with whom she could connect. "I would be happy to assist you in finding something to eat before that hidden hunger of yours becomes more apparent." There was a slight playfulness in the young female's tone. She hoped that her companion would agree to let her remain with him. The more time she spent with him, the more curious she became. The feeling was strange to her. Normally she did not concern herself with the affairs of others. Shrugging slightly and pushing such thoughts from the front of her mind, she awaited the other's answer.

Orez tilted his head to an almost unseeable angle as he thought of having someone with sight accompany him. "It would be nice to have meat for a change of pace rather than having to sniff out mushrooms or carcass on my own...." He mumbled, not really caring if Desideria heard him or not. He nodded and smiled after hearing her innotation, glad that she would come along after all. He was tired of being lonely on his searches for measly amounts of food.
This time it would be warm meat, and he'd also have someone to share it with. Orez's smile grew larger as he filled with a warm happiness.

Desideria wrinkled her nose a little at the other's description of mushrooms and carcasses. Shaking her head to clear the less than pleasant image, Desideria looked the other over once again. Was his life truly so difficult? Smiling at her companion, despite his inability to see her smile, she spoke. "I have seen some small game in the forest near here. I believe that we could find enough to be substantial." Noticing the other's broad smile, she felt warmth in her core. Yet another suprising action; something was definitely wrong with her today. Still, it might be nice to have company. Shoving aside her rather arrogant nature, Desideria questioned the other, "Shall we go now?" Realizing that the other might feel as though she were doing this out of pitty, she added, "I would be greatful if you would help me to find something to eat. I'm sure that your ears are much more finely tuned than mine, and would be a phenominal asset." She let herself smile at the other again, waiting for her companion's response.

He pretended to debate within himself, his head cocked, a low hum emitting from him. "Well....." He started to say slowly, "I suppose so!" He laughed and smiled, excited for something fresh, and maybe for the chance to participate in a hunt, even if only helping with his ears as Desideria had suggested. He nodded, "So where shall we begin, Desideria? I'm sure you will lead the way." He said, as though there was some chance he possibly could, but it was just a joke hoping she would get it.

Desideria smiled again at the other, watching his face as his excitement became apparent. Laughing lightly at his joke, she added humorously, "I'd be honored to lead the way. Follow me." Stepping forward gracefully, she nudged Orez gently, indicating her direction. Moving toward the nearby cover of trees, she listened intently to the noises coming from nearby burrows and dens. Hopefully they would be able to hunt down some true meal. If not, berries were always a welcome alternative. Planning the setup for the hunt, Desideria paused in her wonderings. Turning to face her new companion, she waited patiently to see if he was coming. She would need his talented ears to find enough food for the two of them.
