i think you can order it through the DISH network. My mom gets it... not sure how many channels she gets. i think it may only be NHK channel.

Well, I don't really know, maybe ask your cable/satellite provider if they can hook you up?

I don't really need it because every Friday (11 AM), Saturday (7-11 PM) and Sunday (6:30-11 PM) on KSCI has Japanese programming. Monday-Friday (6:30 - 8 AM) is Japanese news, then drama for the last 30 minutes!

I'm SOO lucky! razz

You can definitely get at least some channels with satelite TV. A friend of mine has at least a couple news channels from NHK, but I dont know exactly how many channels are available in total.

You could order TV JAPAN for cable. It's a channel completly dedicated to Japanese films, game shows, dramas, newscasts, music shows, cartoons etc. I saw a commercial for it on AZNTV (formally known as the International Channel).

Even if you aren't capable of purchasing the networks/getting the cable channels, there is the possiblity of watching clips headlining stories from NHK news on their website. Since you have the internet, that's always a viable option to further study.

It really does help.

Yep, what everyone else says. My grandparents get a bit of it at certain hours but I don't really know Japanese all that well so I've little to no idea what they are talking about. I'd say go with a dish or bittorrent and download the mother bitches.

I live in England. Is it possible to get japanese TV here? There was a chinese channel on Sky, but mama cut the Sky off yesterday for a few months, because my sister's moving in and we need the money. ^^;;;

DISH Network, DIRECT TV and many of the cable providers offer a Japanese package, which I believe only has one channel and costs about $25/month! Yikes! Waay to expensive for me!

There''s also several internet feeds of some Japanese news channels & public access channels. I know a website that has about 9 different channels, but the link is at home. If I don''t remember to come back here to post it, feel free to PM me and I''ll be glad to share.

But the best way is to learn how to use bit torrent to download j-dramas, j-commercials (CM) or j-anime. There is a TON of unlicensed material out there, much of it that will NEVER be licensed (like gameshows & dramas).

There are some people that go to my temple/church, and they get Japanese television broadcast, I'm not sure how though. Besides NHK, there are international stations but that's from time to time. They gave me some DVD's they had of Japanese television series, but I really haven't seen much Japanese TV around besides that...maybe if you really ask they can see what they can do at your dish company. But like someone mentioned, its really expensive for the most part.
