The ancient species known as the wollemi pine was thought to be extinct, long dead like the dinosaurs, the only known records coming from fossils. But, in a new twist to life in Australia, the Wollemi has been found! Deep in the rainforests of Australia, less than 100 wild mature trees are known to exsist! In an effort to try and keep this rare and ancient species alive, National Geographic, along now with other sites are putting saplings and young trees up for sale! These were cuttings from the original trees. Don't worry, my fellow ecologists, these are not considered an invasive species because they reproduce so slowly. So, if you want to own one of these fascinating bits of history, visit the site mentioned above and have fun!!

Oh wow, that's really something right there, if it wasn't for the fact that they're $100 and I'm not made of money I'd be pretty tempted to buy one. Even more reason why I need a job.
Oh well, I don't need to get one anyway, as cold as the weather gets here (it's the Texas Panhandle, as odd as it may seem it can get very cold down here, below 0 on some occasions) I don't know if something that dwells in the rainforest would have a chance.

Still, that's really something.

Wow, how cool! My father really loves trees, I should forward this to him! I'd want one too, but I have no yard and tend to kill any plants that come into my home... so even if I could afford it I doubt I'd be doing anyone a service by taking one of these into my care. sweatdrop

But what an amazing discovery, and an incredible opportunity!
