The ancient species known as the wollemi pine was thought to be extinct, long dead like the dinosaurs, the only known records coming from fossils. But, in a new twist to life in Australia, the Wollemi has been found! Deep in the rainforests of Australia, less than 100 wild mature trees are known to exsist! In an effort to try and keep this rare and ancient species alive, National Geographic, along now with other
sites are putting saplings and young trees up for sale! These were cuttings from the original trees. Don't worry, my fellow ecologists, these are not considered an invasive species because they reproduce so slowly.
