I personally love my pendulum. It is made of rose quartz and chose me the day it arrived at the local magick shop. I sleep with it under my pillow and it allows me to remember my dreams easier upon waking up and it is very sensitive to me.

If tools are not required for magic, then why use them? Do they help or is just a thing involving frame of mind.

Jury's out on that one, LoLi. I think that tools are useful sometimes, with certain things--exorcisms, divinations--but also think that tools lend a great deal of mental stability to most Witches who use them. I try to use as few as possible, as little as possible, because a tool can become a crutch. Really, you shouldn't need them in most cases. Magic--for me at least--has always been more about "essence" than "seance"*.
Love and Vale, -LD
*Here, "essence" means "purity of spirit" or "self", whereas "seance", an old ritual using a crystal ball, chanting, and a number of people to call upon the spirits of the dead, indicates tools and outside powers.

I'm not overly fond of tools, but I really like my pendulum.

I really love using my crystals. They give off such nice energy and can be extremely useful in many situations. I hand pick all of my crystals to make sure they are the best I can find. I beleive that they help focus my own energy on my intent, it makes working any spell a lot easier for me. They help set the spirital mood I guess.

I have two statues I made myself, that I use during celebration ceremonies and morning ritual that I'm really really fond of. I don't know if those are considered tools, though. However, out of my arsenal, they're definitely my favorite, along with my cute mini-cauldron that took me forever to get.

This topic just made me realise how little I use my tools.
Ah, crystals count? Those then.

I am working on getting more crystals right now. I want to make my own wand out of copper pipe, wire, and maybe and amethyst. And I want to make my own cauldron out of clay.
But once I get some tools, my wand will probably be my favorite just because I love copper so much.
