I finally remembered the question I wanted to ask. If you don't believe in God and don't go to church (obviously). Then what is you're ideal location for a marriage idea. Would any of you actually use a chapel/church to get married in or do you have some other location in mind?

Well options that are available, from what I've read here and there, are just getting married in some sort of hall or well...some room with lots of big open spaces.
Also most of the weddings I've been to have been well...one in a backyard, one outdoors at this one place [probably someones backyard too], one in a banquet hall place. But those I think were just location preferences. I'm not sure if any of my family members, extended family are religious, I think most are agnostic.
I think my boyfriends parents got married in a Unitarian church. That sounds like a good place too.

My personal ideal location would be a nice, big outdoor wedding. So much space to work with, to make it magical so to speak.

I will have my wedding in a disused military bunker. We will all dress in Victorian garb, play 8-Bit NES games on projections against the wall, drink eel slime until we're high, then play laser tag with snubnose .38 revolvers.

Yes, that's the ticket.

Honestly... I would go with wherever my girl wanted to be married. I don;t much care myself. I'd be happy with just signing a few papers in the registry office, and ignoring all ceremony.

eek Holy mother of bejesus! I always say that there will only be two things I will be in charge of if & when I get married: 1) my tux, and 2) the wedding cake. If I can find someone to elaborate on that design, I will be eating a six foot tall Mario cake.

In Ohio, there are plenty of conservatories and gardens where you can rent out plots for weddings and/or receptions. Lots of flowers and all that. Well, it was in one of those types of places where my mom married my stepdad last year. (First time I wore a suit, too.)

Probably someplace like that, but I also liked Theo's idea of a derelict bunker. Not necessarily in a bunker specifically, but I like the unconventionality of it. It got me thinking, and I decided my second choice would be somewhere in the woods, a la Braveheart, although the difference would be that people would be invited, 'cuz it wouldn't be a secret. The other difference would that I (hopefully) never have to avenge her death at the hands of the English.

Go to the courts in your area. Many of them offer a service where you can get married without religious implications.

    • Marry me, babeh domokun heart We'll serve nothing but bottles of 151 and a 6 foot tall cake at our wedding, cuz we r super classy!

I'd like a garden or some other outdoors location. Although some big old churches have really nice architecture, and then you have that weather thing. I think early spring or fall would be nice.

Probably in the backyard of my house or if I can reserve a small garden.

I've always liked the idea of getting married outside. There are many nondenominational officiates out there who will gladly perform your wedding, so there really aren't any limits on where you can get married. I myself, can only answer this, because my wedding is soon, and I've done a good deal of research recently. I even found a woman who will perform any type of marriage, and if you don't have a place to do hold the wedding, the bride, groom, and a few guests can have it done at her home. She has a little "chapel" although it's not anything like a church set up at her home. It's pretty cute.

I'm getting married in Hawaii. We're going on a cruise, and the cruise line has wedding planners who handle all the paperwork, and details. You just tell them what you want and don't want, and they'll set you up. It's very convenient and very affordable. I might actually recommend it once I see how everything goes in a couple weeks. mrgreen
