Do not try to catch a falling PLASTIC cup with right hand, while holding a pot of straight-from-the-burner boiling water in the left hand. stare

This will cause you to miss catching the cup, in reaction to spilling half the pot of said boiling water onto left hand. sweatdrop

Also - when needing to treat a burn - run it under cold water until it no longer burns. 3nodding

If you are too damn lazy to do this, and soon tire of standing there with hand going numb under running cold water - grab a zip-lock bag, fill it with water from the fridge + ice, zip the bag ariund hand, and sit at computer typing with one-hand at 2:06am informing your friends of your earlier stupidity! biggrin heart

Edit:

And if you want to go to bed eventually - get Duct dape and use your teeth to start pulling it, then your right hand to pull the tape, and your foot to hold the roll of tape.
Then proceed to wrap your hand (which is in the zip-lock bag of water) in the duct tape at the wrist, over the bag. Then go to bed.
Warning - bag may leek some, and randomly wake you up in the middle of the night once you feel your arm a little wet.

Aww is your hand okay? I burnt mine with some steam a few days ago and it looks horrendous and still hurts really bad.

Ouch, that doesn't sound good. Is it still hurting?
Feel better soon!
And think of it this way, at least you learned a valuable lesson for the future.

0_o Nait, was it you that I had an internet soup race with a while ago? I remember burning myself similarly during that. And I was drunk. ...but I wasn't trying to catch a drink. I was just drunk xd

@ Susikie: Yeah, that much suck. My hand's okay, still hurts - and the index finger and thumb are still really red. But no blistering.

@ Rye: No, no it isn't good! rofl Yes it still hurts, but not as much. Thank-you I will try. And yes! Lessons about zip lock bags! 3nodding

@ Joby: No, you see, the drink was empty. NOW, if it had actually HAD alcohol in it, I probaby would have dropped the pan, and burned my entire leg - but caught the drink without any of it spilling! 3nodding

@ Kninja: *laughs* Nope, that one wasn't me. Hope you didn't burn yourself too badly though! rofl

But yeah, this is nothing. My dad burned me worse a few years back. And that was before I knew what to do for a bad burn, so it was worse! ^.^;;

-.- You're not allowed in the kitchen anymore.

At least there's no blistering. Then it'd hurt much longer, I'm sure since you have to wait for the blisters to heal. But since you said you've been burned worse before I'm sure you know that. ^.^ No more burning!

Oh yeah, and they have little packets of gel at the store that you could run and pick up that are supposed to stop a burn from hurting. I imagine they're really cheap.

Except it was 2am, and I only have my 'L' And no stores were open (except for like, shell). rofl

But yeah - I ran my hand under cold water for a good 5-10 minutes, then had it in a bag of colder water for hours. And I've been putting some of my facial mosturizer stuff on it (really really light mosturizer, cold cream stuffs) Seems to work really nicely. Makes the burning stop, and keeps it from drying out 3nodding heart
There's only a bit of red left, and a bit of dark, dark red where the nuckles are (probably, because I had to take time to find a spot to put the pot down, before releasing it, and wiping the water off), but yeah, it's fine. 3nodding

rofl So long as it doesn't hurt! heart

Because I know what to do for burns, and had running water right next to me - then kept it in a bag full of cold water for hours rofl there was minimal damage. And the face cold cream stuff really helps too heart

I hate that. When something is burning or cutting into your hand so you need to put it down quickly but there's no where for it to go. Or something is hurting somewhere else but your hands are full. It's like "damn, damn, damn, damn! Where do I put it!?"

Yeah I know! I didn't want to put it back on the element because that's bad for the pot (since most of the water had spilled out), But I didn't panic.

It was actually really funny - I'd been thining to myself just before this, what you do in an emergency (train of thought) and had been thinking - 'so long as everyone stays calm, things can usually be handled more easily.' Or something, and then I hit the cup with my elbow, and spilled the water on my hand.

And didn't yell out at all! rofl didn't make a sound. My brother *was in the next room* didn't even realize I'd done something until I popped my head in and said
'Burns - you run them under cold water, then what?' sweatdrop
'You run them under cold water until it stops burning' neutral
'DAMN IT!' mad

~didn't want to stand there running water over burn for another 10 minutes~

rofl Actually, now that I think about it - I don't know if even then he knew I'd burned myself, since I didn't say I had! rofl

lol, Well that woulda been one hell of a random question.

My issue today: I tend to walk around outside barefoot. Well, my dad had done some yard work this weekend and since it had been so long since the lawn was mowed there was this thorn covered weed about...oh say...waist high near the hose spicket. In doing the yard work he used a weed whacker on it and destroyed it, sending the thorns EVERYWHERE along the walkway. I hadn't noticed this. So, when I went out to wash my car off (because in doing the yard work he also somehow COVERED my car in dirt with the lawn mower) I was barefoot. Walked along the path to turn on the hose and got tons of thorns in each foot. Pick one foot up to pull the thorns out and it forces the thorns in the other foot to go in deeper because of more pressure on the foor. Then to get the thorns out of that foot you have to put the cleaned foot down back into the thorns. I basically just had to clench my teeth and walk through the thorns until I got to an area free of them and then get them out of both feet. And then I felt really, really bad because I looked over my shoulder and my cat had followed me through all of it. She was walking just fine and not picking at her feet so I guess she made it through ok but I'm going to try to check her feet once she falls asleep (she's too bit...ah...tempermental to do it while she's awake).

That doesn't sound too fun, but then, at least when you're heating baby bottles it won't hurt when you burn yourself...then again, because you can't feel it, the milk may be too warm...hmm...
