If you go to Amsterdam, check out Abraxas and Dampkring, they look really neat inside. When I was there, they had just filmed Ocean's 12, and the coffee shop they are in is Dampkring, but you can't see how cool it is, with the fake trees and stuff. Don't go to one of the African ones because they don't really want you there. Or so I'm told, I accidentally wandered into one and smoked there, the guy behind the counter acted as indifferent as any other Dutch shopkeeper.
I got super-lucky and went there during the Cannabis Cup, and my travel companions were judges. They let me borrow a pass from them one day and I got to smoke Amnesia Haze, the bud that won that year! So I can die happy now. I think it costs a couple hundred bucks to be a judge, but it's worth it. Or you could probably split the cost with a friend and take turns. It was like a comic convention, but with weed. Craziness. I plan to go back if I ever have money.

Also, try Pink Floyd, its a really nice place to go, the staff are nice and the produce, well, amazin.

And ask Jared to do a Bradley Nowles impression. He's got it down pat.

The "Black" Coffeeshop is called the Lions Den. I went because I noticed the person inside was one of the first black people I saw who wasn't pushing Coke on everybody. I went in, purchased some Lemon Kush and sat down to roll a spliff. While I was there, 2 60+ year old ladies came in, whip out a hash pipe and bust out a bumblegum stick size tab of hash. I look over, handing my spliff to them asking if I could try.
After about 20 minutes, these ladies get up and wish me and my friend a happy trip and walk out like it was nothing, leaving me and my friend there like drooling wii-tards.
Route 66 and the shop next to it is really nice, with couches right next to the window to watch the canals, only problem is its in the gay district.
My Opinion of Amsterdam:
Over priced. It doesn't matter if its weed or food, everything is over priced. I solved this by staying in hotels in the gay district (because most people didn't want to stay across the street from a place called The c**k Ring because the prices are cheap and we had a balcony. This was lucky for us because we didn't go with enough money for good food AND weed, so we bought cheese/bread/ham/mayo and put it outside in natures freezer. Also staying on Boat-hotel is a cheap way to stay. smile
I have also noticed 2 different types of shops. Shops that have containers with different strains where they weigh it out for you and then pre-packaged bud... all that tend to look/smell/taste the same. I acutually talked to a few of the shop owners, such as PICKING UP STICKS, who gave me the break down on how they run their weed deliveries. Betty Boop is a great 2 story coffee shop that is clean and warm on a New Years night. I have reviewed over 47 different coffeeshops, I will post up the listing soon as I transcribe them. smile
If you want to be able to hang out with other stoners, smoke expensive bud, hang out in freezing weather and sit on a plane for 12 hours, go to Amsterdam. If you want to smoke outside around other people, get 1/2 lbs of bud for 60-100 dollars and be warm and happy, do what I am going to do... Jamaica.

Only found out about it's existence last year, to be honest.
