They say that if a human has a very traumatic experience while being transformed into a vampire, they will forget their human life (example, Alice and Edward).
What if, when it comes down to it, Bella is bitten while trying to stop a fight between Edward and Jacob.... or something like that? For the sake of things, she's bitten by Edward. Could she forget that she loves Edward? Is that possibly why he's so against changing her? Maybe this has nothing to do with her soul after all...

No. Its a good theory. But I don't believe that she could forget. I think Edward doesn't want to change her becasue he knows the pain, and he doesn't want to be the reason she may not have a shot at an after-life.

Nah...I think that's hardly possible. First of all, Edward does remember his human life, if you remember in Twilight when he's informing Bella of his name, where he lived, how he died, etc. Alice simply doesn't remember hers because it's like post-traumatic stress disorder - everything in her life before she was changed was so horrible her brain just blocked it out. And Edward and Bella are utter soulmates. Even if her memory or thought-process is a little altered, they'd still be soulmates. Esme and Carlisle, for example. They didn't fall in love until after Emse was changed, even though they had met before. And Esme did remember Carlisle and her human life, even though her last human experience was a traumatic one - she jumped off a cliff. Heck, all of their last human experiences were horrible - Rosalie and her incident, Emmett was attacked by a bear. Carlisle has an intensely clear memory of his human life even though his last experience was trying to attack vampires and getting attacked himself.

She wont forget. that would relle just ruin the point of the books. And besides, edward will probly be the first person she sees after she is 'transformed' and he could just fill her in on what happened. as several people pointed out, you dont forget your past life, it just gets blurred.

I believe isabella_esque has hit the hammer on the nail. She won't forget; Alice only forgot because of all the shizz they did to her.

Ah, yes, all very good thoughts. But remember that Edward had to be told his past by Carlisle - he didn't remember on his own.
My theory on a traumatic change: Something happens between Bella and Edward and Jacob that causes her to change in a very traumatic way. Obviously, Edward would be very hurt and Jacob would only rub it in. Edward normally flees from this sort of thing, so let's just say that he runs off, to hurt to face what he's done. Now, we come to Jacob. I firmly believe he's imprinted on Bella. Even though she's a vampire, I believe that the imprint would be stronger then her nature. She could learn to love Jacob, for she wouldn't remember that who he is. It would be in her nature to think of Jacob as an enemy, but I think she could be taught otherwise if she weren't around other vampires.
But I wouldn't know. I'm not Stephanie xd

while I was reading eclipse again, I was puzzled on something they said. How it would be like 80 yrs. for her to be "normal" cullen-like vampires, but what if in the next book if she gets changed, she totally leaves edward??

i think that when u've had such a special and unique relationship like bella and edward u can never truely forget. even if on a conscious level u forget, on the subconscious, u will always remember heart heart

Plus she keeps referring to Wuthering Heights so i really dont want to think about this possibility

i don't think that she would forget Edward because they have a special relationship.and as others say the only reason that Alice doesn't remember is because of traumatic experience that was so horrible her brain blocked it out and Edward didn't forget everthing.but i don't think that the things happening between her jacob will be traumatic thing for her...so i don't think she forget because of that .well that's what i think.
