Many days after Xanabel's first trip into the outside where she could freely explore, and where she had met her new and only friend Ifrit, she decided it would be nice to go exploring again. But this time, with a big of courage gathered up, she decided to go exploring near a more populated area. The Mountain HQ, as it was called. She was rather fascinated by the building itself, but everything that surrounded it was interesting too. Wandering just a bit away into nearby woods, she found a small pond and stared at her reflection it. It was pretty. And she wasn't thinking of herself. No. Xana was too childishly innocent to be vain. Instead she thought of how the sun danced with the water's edge and made it shimmer and shine when she tapped it. The ripples danced with sun rays and she seemed most pleased.
"How lovely..." She murmured to herself.

It was another lovely day... Jormundgand sneered at it. All this lovely weather... sometimes he liked it, but today it was simply annoying. He wanted some rain. A nice storm to liven things up. Fah...
He was up strolling around the Mountain HQ today, rather than down in the Realm where he would have been expected. And why? Because he felt like it. Who said he had to have a reason?
A whiff of water caught his attention though. He wanted a drink... if he couldn't have rain he at least wanted a drink... and lo, he spied a small, dark, pretty little normal kitsu sitting by the pond, playing with the surface of the water and for all appearances being mezmerized by the sun sparkles.
It was cute. Kittenlike. Adorable. He wasn't in the mood for it. "Why hello, my dear. What is such a pretty little thing doing out here on her lonesome? Surely you would be better served for some companionship." He slid gracefully over to the pond to have a quick drink, keeping his eyes and his expression far more kind than the thoughts behind it.
He was large... overall larger than Ifrit, or even a Nightmare kitsu, but it was definitely more in length than hight, and shoulder to shoulder he might have actually been a bit shorter than the firey Aeon. He was long, sinewy, graceful, and eloquent. A fine catch to the unobervant eye. Underneath the elegant exterior though, there was a self centered and often cruelly devious beast.

To say the very least, the dear little kit was startled by the other's word and when she saw him fully -this is to say she drew her focus from the sparkles in the pond-, she was frightened. Though, to judge a book by it's cover would be wrong. Ifrit was just as large, though shorter in length certainly, but he wasn't scary at all. And this other kitsu... was he really a kitsu?... seemed very kind indeed.
"Good day," she returned, smiling brightly at him. "I'm exploring... it's such a lovely day and it seemed like the sort of day to go see the wonderful things of the world..." She spoke with such carefree innocence that it would soon be quite obvious to the other that though she looked like an adult (small though she was) she was most certainly in the mindset of a young one. She was dazzled by his colors and his overall 'shape' in general, for she'd never seen all the different sorts of kitsu and was overly fascinated by him. It made her a bit unfocused.

He smiled politely. "Ah... a good day, yes. A much better day now that I've found such beautiful little company." He slid his elegant way closer to her instead of being on nearly the opposite side of the pond and settle down to rest on his belly, paws crossed in front of him and head held up regally. "And what wonderful things had a little lovely like you found today?"
Just keep her talking... look for a few openings... he'd figure out what he wanted to do to correct her childish viewpoint when the opportunity presented itself.

"Oh!" She was rather startled by his movement, and taken aback by his curiosity all the more. It was a soft exclamation, as though surprised as she was, she was still more than happy to share her adventures with him. "Well uhm... This lake I s'pose. Butterflies too! They were beautiful and their wings were the most vivid and wonderful colors! Just like you..." The last line was added out of thought, with a beaming face to decorate the words. It was difficult for her to quite understand the situation, though because of Ifrit she didn't really feel afraid of strangers but trusting them was a different matter. She loved stories, she didn't like fear. One way or the other she'd learn something today, she felt it, but what? What could it be?

Oh... such naive and bright eyes, full of the wonders of the world. Do darken them would be most enjoyable for him in the vicious mood he was in today. And perhaps... and incling... she did say he was pretty, after all. "I doubt sincerely the butterflies were half a match for the beauty of your lovely pelt, little one. Ah... but do pardon me, such a lovely young lady must have already have a beau, I should probably hold my tongue, however difficult it is not to praise such living art."
Wouldn't be the first time he'd tried seduced a girl and broken her heart. Likely wouldn't be the last. Such games he could play with someone when they were wrapped around his little toe.

"A beau? I'm sorry, but I don't know what you mean..." Naive was most certainly correct. Her pure innocence might be startling but it could be refreshing as well. It was extremely enjoyable to watch her, though others might be disgusted by how 'stupid' she might seem for all her curiosity and lack of knowledge. Truly though she learned quickly, though today it seemed... not quickly enough.
Her ears flicked back at the compliments. She was not used to them. They were very new to her and made her feel flattered and embarrassed, so much so that she averted her teal colored eyes to the pond where the fishes swam swiftly. She was unaware of his purpose or of his intentions, for she'd never had someone do this before. One learns something new every day, really and truly.

He couldn't help a smile, though he kept it from being wolfish so that it simply seemed friendly, and widened his eyes as if he were slightly startled. He wasn't sure yet if she was stupid, simple, or really just that naive... but he was sure he could have rather a lot of fun with this one if he played this out correctly. "Ah... beau is just a fancy word for a boyfriend, little one. And yours would surely be jealous to hear me going about how lovely you are... It is so difficult not to praise beauty when I see it. Or... do I dare hope perhaps the unlikely is true and that you do not have a boy to dote on you as you so obviously deserve?" Ahh... flustered already. This could definitely prove entertaining.

Her already wide eyes got a little wider if that was possible and she shook her head delicately, gazing at him in shock. "N-no. I don't have one," she stumbled, "should I?" This whole thing was news to her. Since her 'daddy' hadn't released her much she was very new to this whole thing. Even having friends was foreign to her, much less a boy who doted upon her. "I mean... I have a friend who's a boy... is that what you mean? He's really nice to me..." She was really confused and her tails swept along the ground, ear pricked back.

"Oh... Did I distress you, little one? That was not my intent." Blatant lie, anyone? "I fear my tongue runs away with me sometimes when I meet beautiful girls." He smiled brightly. He was a good actor and he knew it. "Ah... you can have a friend that's a boy... I meant a different sort of boyfriend, though, m'dear. The boyfriend I speak of is a male that's ah... courting you, to see if he can win your affections and perhaps become your mate. I'm surprised that such a lovely, sweet girl as yourself wouldn't have one. It doesn't seem at all fair to you." It was difficult to woo someone who didn't even know you were doing it... so it seems he was going to have to play teacher first.

A part of her was becoming nervous though, as if the word mate had struck a chord. Did she want one of those? It put her back on edge but only on the inside could that be told. Her eyes still shimmered as bright as ever, for although she was slightly afraid she couldn't kill the curiosity rising in her heart. The other one said such pretty things to her and it was hard to resist his charm, though she didn't even realize she was doing it. Her body was so much more grown than her mind.
"I never really thought about it before," she replied politely. "I've never even had friends before recently, let alone anyone more important than that." Her ears moved forward again, awaiting his reply. Her head tilted to the side a little and she grinned at him, questioningly. There was still so much she had to learn and it seemed that the other had a lot to say... though mostly they were about how pretty she was, some things he said contained information she found valuable. Like this boyfriend business.

"Ah... a lovely bud just beginning to open up and see the sun." He nodded knowingly. "But ah! I would be greatly honored of such a lovely young flower would grant me the privelage of friendship. You are proving a delight both to look upon and be around. And, if I may be so bold... it is a new subject, perhaps, but what are your thoughts on having a boyfriend?" He could easily enough just scare her away now... he could sense her buried unease. But if he could find a way to get just a little closer... he could do so much more damage.

"Of course! I'd love to have another friend!" She said instantly. There wasn't a moment's hesitation because the idea simply pleased her too much. If he was anything like Ifrit, and he seemed very kindly and sweet to her, than he'd make another good friend and how she so desired those! Joy shivered about her beings as her tails lifted up, suspicion dying a little. His bold question was curiosity just like hers, so why should she be afraid to answer it? There'd be no harm, right? "I don't have any... the only thing I really understand about it is what I see from daddy and momma. They love each other, but they love me too in a different way. I can't really tell the difference by myself though..." She was so open, sometimes forgetful that she shouldn't fully trust others and that looks were deceiving.

There were certain things about the way she said what she said, the way she acted, that clued him in to the fact that not only did she not know exactly what was different between mates and friends, she didn't even have the slightest clue about why mommy and daddy were mommy and daddy. He looked upward for a moment with his eyes closed to keep from giving himself away witha crule smile or the wicked gleam in his eye. Explaining things and trying to simply seduce her and break her heart would take too long... and besides, he'd just thought of a way to put a scar on her innocense that would do far worse than that ever could.
"Well, little one, there are things mates do that just friends don't... I could tell you about some of it, if you'd like." He just wanted to get her to agree without having any idea what she was actually agreeing to first. He imagined saying "yes" to what he was about to do however unintentionally would make it just that much worse.

His reply was far more interesting than she'd expected it to be and things just seemed to be getting better and better for little Xanabel. She was learning all kinds of things today and it was more fact than nature, which was what she was used to. She was used to her parents telling her things and then obeying. Freedom was so new and so interesting. Other kitsu had stories to tell and facts to provide with biased opinions. Though they all seemed rather nice in the 'young' adult's eyes. This new fountain of knowledge was making her mental acquisitiveness extra keen and the thirst was growing with it.
Xana found herself nodding, altogether pleased. "Oh yes! That'd be lovely! It really makes no sense to me..." She added the last line with a soft murmur of ...was that embarrassment? It seemed to be, either that or it was shame for being a burden. That was the more likely answer since she never liked to trouble people even if they were offering.
