Also, I just got an idea for a story (a story that I will probably never write, as that is what happens... crying ). I don't really have much of it planned out, but the gist of it is that an atheist dies, goes to hell, is recruited by Satan, makes an army, goes to war with heaven, and I'm not sure how it ends (some sort of twist perhaps?). Believe me, it's a lot better than what it sounds like, but it's in the, yet to be chosen, details. Now, I tend to get a lot of ideas, but the problem is that I don't really have any writing abilities (that I acknowledge of). So, do you guys think that I should try writing it now, or should I wait a while longer to improve my writing, and then try it? I don't want to ruin it, but I want to write it. I'm so torn up D:

I write a lot, but I have the curse of "Good ideas, bad realization," so I only put my fanfics online. The best thing to do if you have a story that you like but aren't ready to write for is make a bible. Basically just put down the info in a complete narative or as you speak it out loud. My mp3 player also has a mike, so sometimes if I'm out and I get inspired, I'll just talk out what I'm thinking and record it, then later just type it out verbatim. I'm really glad I've been doing that cause sometimes things that I thought up for other stories actually worked to help my new ones. One of my main stories is a hybrid of a ton of my old stories from High School.

Good thing my phone has a voice recorder.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. I get so many ideas but then I forget them because I didn't write them down.

I stopped trying once i realised I suck at writing action scenes, I suck at writing dialogue, I suck at writing emotional moments, and I suck at writing... whatever's left wink

I can't write action scenes, but I can paint a good picture of a scene, I'm decent with depicting emotions (despite Asperger's Syndrome), and I'm a huge fan of subtlety.

I had an idea for a story a while back, mainly after I found out the star football player of my graduating class got his athletic scholarship revoked after being arrested for DUI. It focuses on a religious town, like the one I lived and grew up in (the suburban, mainly white places in Ohio...you know the kind). Church-based, very religious families, but more of a darker sort of teen drama in the main plot...drug abuse and such. I never figured out the specifics of the plot or actually started on it, but that was basically the idea I had.

If you don't write, then you don't improve on your writing.

So I say write it now.

You can always change and revise parts of it later. smile

...and is it weird that I was thinking of writing a novel that is somewhat similar? I saw the thread title, and I was like "Oh-em-gee, me too!" And it involves God being a douche-like megalomaniac, Lucifer being an insecure, brooding failure at life, and everyone who isn't among God's elite being cast into the fiery pits of Hell (which aren't exactly pit-like, and are certainly not fiery).

biggrin I wish you good luck. I will write mine, and you will write yours, and we will both never be published because we wrote on taboo. xp

If got the story idea of a now-a-day story that involves magic. The main character is well atheist. Also the major antagonist is the vadician that is now tring to take over the planet using an army of light magic users.

Unfortionatly the vadicians army is out numbered 6:1

I reckon you ought to write it, then do a Terry Pratchett on it where 20 years after its written, you go over it and re-write the parts you don't like, like he did on his book 'The Carpet People'!!

And an interesting plot twist could be that the atheist actually turns out to be the child of a demon and an angel so cannot bring about the downfall of either side!

No. Not only am I tired with all the "half-demon/half-whatever" bull crap but I do have an ending in mind, and the whole point of the book is extreme self-doubt to the point that you're not thinking about your beliefs, but that you're shitting your pants thinking you're gonna end up in hell. The war between heaven and hell isn't really the main point of the story, as much as it is the setting of the themes(yes, I know, war is an idea and not an actual place, but I don't have a better word to describe it).

Adding to that, it's not fantasy as much as it is a drama.
