Ask the crew whatever RP/writing questions you want. Other people can answer, too, of course!

Hey, folk, how do you tell an RPer when they are being an asshat in your RP? wink

Seriously? Haha...well, I'd do it one of two ways.

Iron fist or authoritative guidance.

Lead them to better decisions and reward them lightly for dedication and normalcy/coolness until the problem subsides.

If that doesn't work or you don't feel like being nice, enforce your power as GM. Let them know that you DO NOT need them in the RP and present the opprtunity to either fix themselves or kindly leave. In other words, "If you don't like it, there's the door".

Okay, I have two questions, one about this guild and one about roleplaying:

1. (About Guild) We can post male-slash one-on-ones here, right?

2. (About Roleplaying) How is the best way to say that you aren't having fun with a roleplay and not make them angry? It seems that I'm always getting people angry because of that... sweatdrop

Okay. First, define "male-slash". I guess I don't know all these newfangled terms sweatdrop

As for informing your GMs of your boredom, it depends.

Are you looking for improvement within the RP/don't want to leave?

If so, this is a delicate topic. Usually start off sentences with "I LOVE this RP, and to help make it even better, can I suggest you _____?", or something to that effect. It's easier to look for improvement in terms of constructive criticism, offering to help, or showing extra interest that gets the GM fired up.

If that doesn't work or you just want out, I suggest you bow out kindly, saying that it's just too much for you, or that you just don't have enough time. Placing gentle blame on yourself without offending others is the best path here. Who cares if they don't think you're dedicated? There are bigger fish in the sea. And if there's anyone in there whose opinion you totaly respect, PM them the REAL details.

Hope that helped!

I have a question about tact. What's the best way to enter an RP that has progressed a good deal? It annoys me when someone just pops up, randomly, without making any effort for a transition. I really don't want to be a hypocrite. Suggestions?

Well, above all, contact the GM and discuss ways of fitting you in. I'm sure he/she knows holes in the plot where a new player can come in.

Now, if they don't really care, try to make something rather...unique happen. Pop in without "popping in". For example:

folchinator
Ellisent brandished his inverse katana and flew out of the shadows.

"Uh, hi guys. Can I join?"

This is not good, as I'm sure you know. Popping in without any reason and randomly being as powerful as other characters/knowing the urgency for action as well as them will annoy.

Try being more subtle.

folchinator
Yawwwwnnnn. Seriously. Why did this town have to be such a bore? If only some REAL adventure would come along. I mean, let's see. Wake up. Get dressed. Pickpocket a few fools. Eat. Sleep.

NOT COOL.

Though he was well-fit and able were some true need arise for a nimble thief with a love for cheap beer, Ellisent had definitely "settled". How droll, right? It was almost like-

Well, well, well! Settled or not, it was definitely time to pickpocket, as a group of pretty wealthy-looking warriors marched right under his nose, the aroma as intoxicating as any king's feast. Applying a quick coat of pine tar, the knave dragged his thieving butt off the Toad Inn's stoop and began to stroll casually in the direction of the foreigners, whistling as he did so. Time for action, Ellisent...

....and blah, blah, blah, he bumps into them, takes a few coins, gets caught, they're about to run him through, something big happens and they drag him along, he proves himself in battle, hooray.

Why can I say that this WILL happen? Because talking to the GM about possible "jump in" scenarios WILL get it done. There are thousands of ways to jump in an RP. You need an opening (don't come in when you definitely would NOT be there) and a method.

To keep from being annoying, it's really as simple as NOT BEING ANNOYING. Note the difference betwee the two samples? While the second one was a crappily-thought out piece on my part, I hope the message shines through.

Message? Well, it's whatever you interpret it as. In my opinion, you should know that THERE IS A WORLD OUTSIDE THE MAIN PLOT. That's all. Highlight that aspect. Come in unexpectedly. It makes the party feel like you're not trying to muscle your way in.

...so I looked up Male-Slash. Looks pretty...raunchy. Yep. That's the word.

I'm sorry, but I'll have to say no on the no-cybering, PG-13 and ToS rules clearly laid out for all Gaians.

I, myself, go outside of the PG-13 barrier. But cybering and/or violent sex scenes, which (correct me if I'm wrong here) this genre seems to be about are...well, they're just not allowed. If I'm WRONG on this one, let me know. But...yeah.

I have a question!
How do I test skills that I had made up for a Rp, but have not been implemented yet, to make sure that they are not overly powerful. Because the skills for The Caverns maybe a little too strong, but I don't know how to test it.

You and I could go into the test forum on the forums page and try it out. How about tonight around 10 EST?

Ha ha, it's fine! smile Male x Male. I always see 'Straight' role plays or Female x Male.

So, is it okay to post something different than that?

XD Actually, it's just a male and a male having a relationship.

Since he isn't on I'll try and see it I can answer it.

Well, I don't think that there is anything wrong with it. Just go with it. If I am wrong, you can throw pies at me. ^_^

Gaia is meant to be a PG-13 site. As long as it doesn't go into anything graphic it should be okay.
