I'm the mascot — I have my own account and everything! And now I have my own contest, too!
The purpose of this contest is to draw yours truly! Draw me, color me, paint me, sculpt me....bake me? Whatever! Make avatar art of me, the official mascot of the HTDM Guild. You can even draw me with one or more of the Moderators or even yourself! Draw me happy; draw me sad; draw me chibi; draw me raving mad; draw me, er, drawing; draw me with artist's block; draw me however you like! Much of the art entered for this contest might end up being used on my profile sometime in the future (you will be contacted for permission if this happens), so have fun and be creative!
There is also a side contest, so be sure to check that out too!
Rules and InformationContest Begins: August 15, 2007

No copying! All art must be your own original work.
It can be in any medium you want and in any style. It doesn't have to look like manga/anime.
You may submit as many pieces of art as you wish, but depending on how many entries I receive, you may only be able to win one prize. However, if we have a lot of people participate, you could win multiple prizes! Yay!
Entering is FREE! So enter as many pictures as you want!
Gold amount for prizes and the side contest will increase but will never decrease.
The contest might have to be extended if I feel there are not enough entries, but let's try to avoid that shall we?
Entries will be judged by the Guild Moderators.
Post any questions you may have in this topic. I'll be more than happy to answer anything you're unsure about.
Be nice! No dissing people's art in this topic. Also, no critiquing; we have other forums for that.

.:: Side Contest ::. You may have noticed that the Home Page of the guild is a little bit plain. The Moderators and myself are hoping that this handy-dandy little side contest will take care of that problem! Your mission is to spruce up our home page! Create a banner for us to splash across the top! It doesn't have to be too fancy, but we'd like it to look nice. InformationBanner should say one or a variation of the following phrases:
"The Official How to Draw Manga Guild"
"Welcome to the Official How to Draw Manga Guild"
"Welcome to the Official HTDM Guild"
The banner should be no larger than 600 pixels wide, 300 pixels tall.
Feel free to add some kind of catchphrase or a line inviting users to join.
If you want to go that extra mile, you can draw in some friendly-looking Gaians, guild moderators, or (and this would be particularly nice) the guild mascot.
Post your entries in this topic using the same form from the Main Contest (see previous post).
Post questions if you have 'em!

.:: F.A.Q. ::. Here's some questions that I've been getting:
If I have drawn an entry for the main contest, am I allowed to use that drawing for the side contest too?
I'm going to say this: Yes and No.
You can use some of the same elements from your main drawing in your side contest entry. For example, if you draw me gnawing on a pencil eraser as your main entry, you will need to change it up a bit for the side entry; you can use the same picture, but maybe use a special background or crop the picture, and add text and make it more of an advertisement for the side contest (since that's pretty much what the banner is: an advertisement and first impression of the guild for potential members).
So, are we supposed to draw you or your avatar?
Just draw the avatar; I don't exist outside of Gaia. ^_^;
Can we change the mascot's clothes or add accesories?
Well, we actually held a contest to decide what the mascot should look like, so you'll need to keep him recognizable. Keep his hair and facial features, but I guess you can change his clothes a little.
When does the side contest end?
Assuming the date is not extended due to lack of entries, it's the same time as the main contest: October 15, 2007.
