Formalities:
Please do not post in this journal unless you are a staff member of Lab 305, another Raevan owner, or have been given permission (which can be asked for when I'm around in the thread or via PM). This journal is meant to make solo RP posts that prioritize the character development of Ekundayo and her owner, so I'd rather not have any roleplay take place in here when it would be easier to do in the Biotic Interactions subforum. Posts from others can be along the lines of letters, gifts, phone calls and the like. Just make them in RP format-- otherwise you'll make a hideous mess out of the fourth wall.
I like to keep an open playing field as far as what direction a story arc will go in. That is, although I love to constantly spit out ideas, I don't want too much planning out of what may happen between Dayo and your Raevan, or our respective guardians, or whathaveyou. It can get constricting when I feel pressured to develop my character in a certain way in order to adhere to a path that's already been drawn out. This is really more of a disclaimer than a rule, except for the part where I don't want endless discussions about how Dayo and your Raevan will be like in x amount of time. Speculating and predicting is fun, though. And I respect people who put time and effort into the path their characters will take, so hopefully you don't think I'm being arrogant. XD'
I hope you enjoy the story. Before I won the summer flatsale I would constantly read over Raevan journals, hoping that the next installment of their stories would be posted soon. I'm trying to keep in mind how much I enjoyed wasting my time like that as I'm writing these. Getting into an RP-intensive shop like this is WAY more than just having an artist cough up shiny sig candy-- creating stories around them is just as important, if not more than. So I'm hoping that there's lurkers and such poring over my journal entries and RPs like I did for the two years before I got one of my own. The thought of it's pretty cool, anyway.

 The Raevan
Name... Ekundayo ('Dayo' for short) Meaning... "Sorrow becomes joy" (Yoruba) Gender... Female Stage... Frei Eyes... Raptor yellow Hair... Honey-to-maple; downy, uneven, perpetually messy; two very long locks from the back and two smaller ones framing her face Skin... Light and healthy. Navy-colored tattoo on her... uh, chest. Wings... Large brown eagle wings with dark blue tips Frame... It's hard to tell since she's only a torso, but her body type seems to be more strong than delicate.
Food... Dayo feeds on emotions - usually not enough to take the feeling away, however. Large groups of people or more intense feelings get her more nourishment.
Powers... Empathy and emotional projection.* Her own feelings can change the atmosphere of a small area, e.g. an enjoyable party can suddenly start to feel tense and awkward for those nearby. She currently has no conscious control over this power and her feelings have a tendency to leak out when they're too strong for her to keep to herself. Her empathy also makes it just as possible for her to be affected by the emotions of others as the other way around.
Stats... They're overall fairly even, with her high points being strength, endurance, friendliness and magic and her lowest being her intelligence, creativity, humor and charisma. Her fighting style would probably involve stat effects followed by physical attacks if she were an RPG character. XD
Likes... Laser tag (and other high-energy games), crowds, wandering, storms Dislikes... Restriction, being indoors Fears... Unknown
Personality... [need to update]
Dayo has a strange fascination with the feelings of others, being naturally drawn to more intensely emotional people. She is quick to adapt to the pleasures of other people in order to make them happier - it has yet to be seen whether she'll do the same with other feelings, but it looks like happiness is proving to be her favorite food, so to speak. Her own mood is always unusually blissful, almost to the point where it seems like she's in a different state of consciousness from everyone else.
There is a distinct wild streak in her as well. It shows up the most from her hatred of being confined, but she is also overall very instinct-driven and has little in the way of inhibitions.*NOTE: Ekundayo's powers are subject to the consent and interpretation of other players to avoid it stepping over the lines of some courtesy boundaries. People deal with their emotions differently, and as such not everyone is going to be affected in the same way.
Also, she can neither eat nor have any control over passionate feelings like love and hate. They're technically not emotions in a sense, so they don't fall under her jurisdiction.

The Soul StoryThis... This is... uh. Charlie. Or at least it's a photograph of the type of eagle Charlie was.

Charlie was not mine. I don't believe in capturing wild birds that BELONG IN OTHER COUNTRIES and cramming them into tiny wire cages that aren't suitable for a damned gerbil. No, the piece of work who previously owned Charlie is a man by the name of Trevor Johnsondale. He's a repairman in Aekea who was working on my very broken digital camera. It took quite some time until my camera was fixed and I could go back up there to pick it up-- but in any case, the eagle was evidently his pet (shouldn't that be illegal?!) in his apartment before I 'rescued' him. Trevor had no idea how to take care of the poor guy; I don't remember whether I even saw any food in there.
Charlie was a Crested Serpent Eagle, a species that's indigenous to India and other parts of South Asia. Eagles are often culturally associated with ideas such as justice, morality, and ethics.

 Guardian
NAME: Mouse Pachinkorelli (wait, what?) AGE: Early 20's OCCUPATION: Engineer / mechanic / overall complete gearhead and greasemonkey. GENDER: Lady EYES: Green HAIR: Feathery and green (naturally feathery and auburn) SKIN: Pale; red with sun exposure WEIGHT: 108 lbs FRAME: Precisely five feet tall, petite in all areas. HP: 216/216 STRENGTH: 54 SPEED: 71 DEFENSE: 68 SP. DEFENSE: 103 INTELLIGENCE: 149 LUCK: 2 EYESIGHT: Poor. Sometimes wears contacts. WARDROBE: Combine "thrift store", "hurricane", and "St. Patrick's Day." OUTLOOK: Optimist ALIGNMENT: Mechanical Good MARITAL STATUS: Single and not looking, though not totally blind either. ORIENTATION: Unknown
On some levels, Mouse is as her name implies: she's diminutive in size and nonthreatening in appearance with a bit of a high-pitched voice, but that either fails to be an obstacle or turns out to be an advantage when she wants to get into (or out of) something. Growing up in Aekea taught her to be resourceful and try to stay calm and collected in stressful situations; she sees the mind as her greatest asset, not having much in the way of physique or the brand of good looks that's socially acceptable for young women these days. She can, however, turn timid at the drop of a hat, particularly when a situation starts to get violent or when a problem presents itself that she can't solve with what she has on hand. Although she has a deep hate for hometown nowadays, she still carries the Aekean trademark love for machines. This shows the most readily in her car- it's a bit of a behemoth in size, and Mouse is clearly proud at how she dug it out of a junkyard for cheaper than the dirt it was covered in and fixed it up herself. One can probably imagine how much she'd like to see the machines in the Lab at work.
Why the girl insists on wearing so much green all the time is really anyone's guess. It could be out of a strange brand of environmentalism and love for the outdoors that she developed quickly after moving to Barton, though it's more likely that she just woke up one morning and decided to green-theme her wardrobe just to see how long she could keep up with it before getting bored and returning her attire to normal (or picking another color). Having a bit of fun in life is of great importance to her, to the point where she almost has a phobia of being bored for extended periods of time. If one could work up the nerve to ask for what she would like in a significant other, it's likely that one her answer would be along the lines of "someone who can keep things interesting, and maybe who's willing to endure a long drive to the beach in so we enjoy a long walk on one now and again."

 Progression:
After a lot of internal debate about the morals surrounding it, I finally rescued a serpent eagle named Charlie from a life of captivity by retrieving his soul. I wonder what he'll end up like as a Raevan? Hopefully the calm and balanced nature of the eagle will even things out with the unstable fel essence! The fel essence and soul bottle, as I got them in the mail. It's a mysterious cloud that rains most of the time, but rain never collects in the jar! And touching the jar or being close to it for too long makes me into an emotional wreck. I need to get moving and catch a soul so I can get rid of this thing!

 Companions
Fredmitri the chimera! Mouse owes a lot to this squishy ball of hypoallergenic fluff, as he's how she got involved with Lab 305 back in 2005 for a side experiment Kyou was working on. He's a very affectionate creature, and the combination of an octopus and a cat soul make him extremely curious and sometimes too intelligent for his own good. He's also very fond of his owner, often wrapping his tentacles around her neck or arm and hitching a ride along when she goes out and about.
Wiintendo and Gingerbread are both Mozou, and sort of complete opposites as far as personality goes. While Ginge is a bit of a saucy fireball (she looks like a Victorian lady, but acts more like a flapper of the roaring 20's), Wiin's a particularly friendly machine who manages to have some humility even though he knows he's a very fine piece of technology. The mechanical Mozou is also a fully functioning Nintendo Wii and will play with himself (heh, heh) when nobody else wants to enjoy a game.

Meetings Hazardous Materials: Mouse makes a visit to the aquarium to try and find inspiration for her soul capture, and things get depressingly awkward when she meets Ravi, keeper of the Forceful Mistletoe fel essence.
Comfort Food: Mouse and Fredmitri raise some heads at Cafe Jubilee, and are rewarded with a rooftop dessert with the cafe's owner, Natsuki. Crazy world - and small, too, as Natsuki also turns out to be a future Raevan guardian.
Who Ya Gunna Call?!: Isi and his Raevan, apparently! After an awkward phone call, the two drop by to deliver a little "lost lamb".
Walk in the Rain: An average day of procrastinating on her soul capture is suddenly changed when Roux makes an unexpected visit! Will the icy roc end up turning her beloved chimera into feline sushi?
Drop-Off: Mouse delivers her fel essence and soul bottle to Natsuki at Cafe Jubilee. Mmm, sandwich!
Headless Horseman's Halloween: The Delaran House held a Halloween Spooktacular and everyone was invited! Dressed as a headless horseman (with Fredmitri playing the part of her jack-o-lantern head), Mouse had some fun times and met some people, and Head-mitri made a new friend.
Open Air, Open Mind: Mouse decides on a new year's whim to visit Durem! That tall, dark and winged stranger at the open-air market has 'deja-vu' written all over him... haven't they met somewhere before?
Such Sweet Sorrow: The eagle girl has finally arrived, and awaits pickup at the Lab! Will Mouse's delay allow her to make a new friend or two?
Sparkling Water: There's no better place to make new friends than Natsuki's cafe. Great food, fantastic service... and a rainbowy Frei who Dayo likes almost instantly!
Kung Fu Hustle: Several hours after her brunch with Natsuki, Mouse gets a craving for some kung fu action! And it turns out that another Raevan owner is feeling the same way...
Pimp My Ride: A chance encounter on the road leaves Mouse to show off her mechanical prowess on We'rika's car, while Dayo becomes acquainted with his friendly charge.
