Journal updates:

In order to request a growth, you must have an updated journal. A full example of this is forth coming (we're going to use one of the owner's journals: But hey, we have an excuse: We're busy trying to get together things for you!)

Updated journals include
1) Growth form -
This is essentially UP TO DATE Information on the character's personality and appearance. Whenever this is updated, REMEMBER TO INCLUDE THE LATEST DATE.

2) Links to any and ALL RPs your character has been ICly involved in (semi-OOC silly RPs don't count). This includes both joint RPs and RPs that you have posted solo in your journal.

3) Summary of character growth: HOW your character has matured/grown. This can be physical, but we're looking for mental, emotional, and power maturation as well. This will help us to determine upper level popularity points as well as help us to determine your character's battle abilities. It's a bit of a free-for-all, but the more quality explanation you have here, the better.

HEROIC/VILLAINOUS Activity Participation:

This is least 300 words (done in one, two, or three different posts of at least 100 words) which detail at least one heroic/villainous activity your character is involved in. This is NOT a summary, but rather an actual event. This participation may be done solo or through group RP.

What we look for: a.) Age Appropriate, physically, mentally, and with powers. 15 year old children can not accomplish what 25 year old adults can no matter their background (they're already Evos, don't make them geniuses or progenies as well). On the other hand, a 25 year old should not be pulling 15 year old stunts.

Examples forthcoming.

JOINT RP REQUIREMENT:

You should have at least at three posts (from both sides) RP with at least one other person, totally for a minimum of 300 words. This should be extraordinarily easy, not only do we like to have group official group role-plays, but there are many writers here who like to develop their characters with others.

POPULARITY/FEAR POINTS:
AKA: Constructive Criticism

These character development points are admittedly a bit subjective, BUT we are also easy to please. They're not impossible to attain, though we can guarantee you that we're going to start going through your RP posts and picking your character apart to look for these points.

They based on things like: "Is your hero really being heroic, or did he fudge it all up?" or "Was that REALLY something evil, or just a little sassy?" These are points that show how much public attention your character is likely to have gotten, and how much esteem (or fear) (s)he has among his/her peers.

The Basics of Gaining These Points:

1) DYNAMIC character... Dynamic is a literary term to MAKE YOUR CHARACTER CHANGE. Life happens. People change. No different here. If your character has not shown ANY change and you're trying to do a 10 year jump with him/her....You're simply not going to meet the point requirement.

2) Dynamic character WITH reason.... On the other hand, people don't wake up and suddenly start singing with the birds in the morning when they've always previously been night-owl pessimists. We expect an answer to that question: Why?

3) Personalities consistent with position: Everyone makes mistakes. No one fits the stereotypes perfectly. These are two facts that make characters endearing to us. On the other hand, to have a Villain who falls in love with a Super character and they agree on an eternal love no matter what is foolish. Someone's personality or position has to change in that situation. Watch yourselves. Play with the lines, muddle them about a bit. That's FUN. But don't claim to be something you aren't.

4) IC Exposure: If your character does NOTHING but train all day...how do you expect him/her to be famous? They're in the gym getting buff, not on the street getting bruises. You might be the best singer on the planet, but unless you get out there and SING, no one will recognize you. Depending on the RPs you are involved in and the PR they receive may very well make a huge decision on your popularity.

Something to Note: Do you see how your solo and joint RP requirements were dropped to get to this stage? That's because an unknown number of those type of RPs are exactly what's likely to get you those points. Of course, the other requirements will help you as well, but you can not depend on them alone.

MEDIA COVERAGE:

Media coverage happens in SEVERAL different forms. It can be an interview, a merchandise piece put out on the shelf, a newspaper article, rumors that are floating around about you: use your imagination! Media coverage is how many times someone starts a rant about you or you hit the front pages or manage to get in a talk show or manage to be the butt of a really successful political joke.

Good or bad, this is coverage that your character gets. And it will boost popularity as well as make interesting reads for the rest of us.

Ways to get Coverage: a.) Create your own and have it approved. b.) Get help from others to create, and have it approved. c.) IF you have done something that someone is particularly impressed, someone might just write something for you. (Still must be approved.)

In ANY of the situations, YOU are expected to ANNOUNCE it yourself in the main. Let us know you got some coverage! You will not get points if you do not announce it in thread, Only one of these per week will count.

CIVILIAN ENCOUNTER POSTS:

Here again is a lot of leeway with what you can do. Your character is walking down the streets, rescuing people, interviewing, whatever and (s)he encounters one or one hundred fans, interest group members, hate club members, whatever and is glowed over, mobbed, threatened, glomped, swooned on top of, whatever. What happens? How does your character react? How do the civilians act?

Again this must be at least 300 of your own written words. You can do it as a solo post or have it so that you and a friend is mobbed or you write your character and a friend writers the mob. It doesn't matter how it is accomplished really. What you probably will never see is a large group RP based on this. And we WON'T be happy if you interrupt a group RP with this nonsense. It messes with the flow of the RP. Even if mobs aren't courteous, please be so yourself.

PEER VOTES:

Last but not least is your OOC reputation. When you come near either the fourth or fifth growth stage, the owners will start PMing people about their thoughts on your character, why (s)he deserves to be considered among the highest of highs as well as about YOU as the writer and if you portray the type of person we're willing to let be a role model to our other writers in the group.

Why? Because, let's face it, when someone reaches a level of prestige anywhere, they are looked up to in all aspects. We want to keep our group open and friendly. This will help us all see what sort of peer we are and what sort of group we've become here at Chronicles of Evolution.
