Tigris waited. Twilight set the sky aflame and bathed the mountain ridge where he stood in a glowing red light. He watched and waited over the land. It had been several hours without a response, and he grew impatient.

And yet he had to wait, because someone would surely heed his call, and it was very important for him to gain the trust of the Bonded. They had to follow him of their own accord. So were the rules of his little game. Eyes narrow, he stepped back a few paces; his metal claw thunked softly on stones. His ears perked, listening for the sound of wings. Should he roar again? No, lest the Man-Creatures take notice. Or worse yet the Elder Lunars who had been lurking in the forest. No, this call was meant only for the lost and scared. Those who came would not tell their Bonded Man-Creatures. But a second call could reach ears it was not intended for...

And so he sat down to wait, eyes narrow. Soon they would come. Very soon, he knew.

There was finaly a sound of wings flapping in the distance, as a dragon came into view from the horizion. This was soon followed by a larger snake like snape, as the dragon had not come alone.

Rinu soon came into landing, not far from were Tigris sat. Her landing however was far from graceful; she rarely ever flew anywhere and prefered to walk.

Right now though she was feeling quite scared. Lately there had been so much howling, and the noises frightened her very much. Her bonded and some of the other kyn had gone to investigate, but they hadn't returned yet. What could have happened? Mabye those monsters had hurt them somehow! She whimpered at the thought.

The Edoc'sil Cave was silent, Rowan's room, Zephyr's room, and Rosemary's were all empty. A little search would reveal all three of them cuddled up in the Nursery, awaiting the hatching of the newest egg that Zephyr had proudly brought home from the obstacle course. Rowan and Rosemary all intend to be there when their little egg hatched, and Zephyr felt very close with Origin -Oreo as she was nicknamed- as he was the one who brought her back.

Of the Edoc'sil Clan, only one was not in that room, curled up at the entrance of the cave. Unlike the others, he wasn't sleepy yet, and watching the rise of stars was his intent. Ah the stars, he always loved the friendly way they wink at him.

The others had been so preoccupied with the new egg that Clips often found himself alone, the attention he used to get from Zephyr and his bonded was now directed at the lunar egg. If the others have been watching carefully, his voice was heavy and he didn't speak to any of them unless asked a question. His ears were flat against his head and his tail hang limp. He felt so neglected. Had it been like this for Zephyr when his egg had been found? Had Zephyr been left alone as Rowan and Rose busied themselves over his starry blue egg?

Eclipse sighed and stared blankly at a few birds roosting nearby. The others had been working all day, keeping the fire going, keeping the sand warm, rushing in and out quickly for meals, and lots of other things Eclipse didn't bother asking was. They were all exhausted, probably why all of them were went off to sleep so quickly, before the sun had even set.

Eclipse suddenly perked his head up, his ears erect and alert. Another mighty roar. How many of those has it been for the past few days? But he listened closely, an odd note in that beautiful roar that tugged at his heart, beckoned him.

The next moment, he had jumped off the ledge that led into the den and up a small trail up the mountain. It had been very near, perhaps just a little south of his location. Feral kyns are known to dwell in this area, but like the other howls Eclipse knew that it couldn't have been a normal Lunar.

Eclipse traveled fast though the underbrush with practiced paws until the greenery soon gave away to bare rocks and cliffs. The speed and endurance he had gained training for the Obstacle course helping him immensely, and the few challenges ahead of him were easily bypassed by the Kyn who had successfully jumped the Pillar Weave with Rowan on his back.

Eclipse had to stop and rest several times, noticing dully that the bond between him and Rowan was too thin to talk through anymore. Maybe there's a chance that they won't notice his absence, so absorbed in Origin.

Eclipse finally saw him after a while, a single figure standing alone on the mountains. Eclipse skidded to a halt, wondering of it was who had called for him, had howled such a beautiful, sad howl? Eclipse instantly noticed that he seemed oddly proportioned for a Lunar, his snout oddly short, his tail thin and cat-like. And one leg had an odd metallic sheen to it, curled up with a claw at the end.

Eclipse stayed silent, waiting to see if the other would say something.

It was unlike the cautious Rone to go wandering off by himself. He was usually a very gentle kyn for a large male Lunar, but lately the terrible calls had been setting him on edge. He had become more fearful than usual, but more likely to throw all caution away and rush towards possible danger... Rone felt a horrible compulsion to follow the call, even if he wore his feet red and raw with running. Now he found himself in completely unfamiliar surroundings, his senses confused by the sights, sounds and feelings of the place.

Suddenly he stopped. A glint of steel caught Rone's attention as he watched the odd, striped kyn in front of him. A strange relief washed through the Lunar, as he could sense his journey was over, and yet just beginning. He could sense others around him, but his attention was soley on the stranger.

Madoc flew lazily through the air above Kailind's den. The red-and-green Japenese kyn was typically fairly jolly, but lately he'd been feeling a bit downcast. His bonded human tended to pay much more attention to her First, Tetania, and her youngest kyn, Haruko. He had been left to his own devices most of the time, and he had begun to feel...lonely. And odd feeling, considering he lived in a den with three others, but it was there nonetheless.

Madoc's musings were interrupted by a distant roar. The paused his flight to look in the direction it came from, curious. He had dimly noticed other howls recently but had paid them no mind, since he decided they did not concern him. This one, however, seemed to be speaking right to him, calling him to a better place.

He considered it for a moment; should he leave his den for the call of an unknown kyn? He didn't want to worry his bonded...but then again, would she notice? She did leave him to do as he liked. And the other kyn in the den seemed to pay about as much attention to him. After a momwnt he flew off toward the call, not even sparing a backwards glance for his den.

When he neared the source of the roar, he saw an unusual Lunar and several other kyn in the area. He paused briefly before landing off to one side. He peered around curiously, wondering what would happen next, and who else would answer the call.

The tiger Kyn stared down at the four Otherkin, his expression unreadable. Two Lunars, of course. How unfortunate. His eyes slid then to the Gargoyle, who he regarded for a long moment. She would certainly do, yes. And he looked to the Eastern opposite her, and his ears flattened to his head. He, too, would be a great help. Though he lacked wings, he could still fly.

His voice was quiet and deep, almost regal. It bore a strange, implacable accent, but it was nonetheless crystal clear. His tone was emotionless as at last he spoke, entirely businesslike. "Thank you for responding to my call. We will wait, though. Others may yet come to join us, and then I will tell you the story of the True Kyn. It is a story that the Man-Child Aedan and his Bonded have kept from you, and it is a very important story indeed."

"I'm telling you, there's nothing out here."

The lunar kyn ignored his human companion, ducking his nose to the ground in search of a scent. Tsukikaijuu appeared to be completely ignoring everything except for one thing, trying to find a scent.

The human snarled lightly, pushing the glasses that were sliding down his nose back up. "Come on, you've been looking forever."

No reply came for many moments, until, finally, the grey kyn lifted his head. "If you don't want to stay, just go back to the cave. I'll come back when I'm ready." He then promptly stuck his nose to the earth again, and began to walk in the direction he recognized as north-east.

"Please, don't. Come back!" Tsuki heard the human's desperate call from over his shoulder, but he continued walking at his own pace. "Don't do this. As much as I hate to admit it, I might be a bit...attached. Don't leave me here!" The human crept forward, forcing the foliage of the forest apart. But the kyn seemed to have disappeared, and there was no reply.

Tsukikaijuu continued walking. No scents came to him but that of earth, yet he felt compelled to continue walking in this direction, as though if he walked far enough, his questions would be answered.

The time seemed to stretch into years, but still the kyn walked. He had to find out, he had to learn. A question he didn't even know the words to describe hung over his every thought. The forest began to thin, and soon he was surrounded by nothing but grass and...

Other kyns.

In front of him were five kyn- One gargoyle, one european, two lunars, and one...Something. His leg was had an odd shine, and didn't seem to be anything that Tsuki had ever seen before. Somehow it reminded him of his human's glasses.

His human- How far away was he now? He knew he should feel guilty, yet didn't. Why was that? Was it because they had fought, or was it because, at last, his unspeakable question would be answered?

(Um, Madoc's a Japanese kyn. I think people keep calling him a European; there was probably a typo somewhere that confused people. I just wanted to straighten that out.)

[That's my bad, I get the words European and Eastern mixed up some times in reference to Kyn. XD]

Teith, as her name was called, had silenty landed beside her gargoyle companion and kept quiet after that. She watched while others had answered the lunar's, as it was the only thing she could think that looked like that, call.
The japanese regarded this new animal very closely, as he did the very same thing to herself and Rinu. What exactly did he find so interesting about them? And why were they summoned here? Shen though about another question; how was she herself, able to hear this call.
Perhaps she had been more distressed then she had previously thought. Lonely because her bond always seemed busy with other matters, as well as Taku, shiro, and kameko.
Rinu, however, was less obserive of what was happening, and more keen on listening to the story that was about to be told.

Rutilus perched atop the plateau that crowned the Crater Lake island, looking more than anything like a misplaced sand sculpture as he stood listening to the lovely, unearthly roar that spoke so deeply to his soul fade slowly. True, he may not have been the smartest of kyn, but even he knew that the sound was calling to him.

He would readily admit that Ninja was a great flightmistress, but recently it seemed that her attentions had transfered elsewhere. More and more it seemed she was with Myrrh and her mate, Draco Magnus, excitedly planning for something, or training with Litienn and Amaterasu (as those two always seemed the most willing to spar), or proudly listening to Akikonomu sing...Perhaps it was just that he was made forgettable by his easygoing nature, unlike the other, more dynamic members of his purely female flight. Perhaps that, too, was part of the problem, why he was left out, why there were sometimes uncomfortable stretches of silence when he came into the den where the others were having, it seemed, "girl talks."

There was a promise in the call: a promise that he could find someone to just be himself with.

He would go. He had to.

With a step and a leap, Rutilus was airborne. He circled once, beating upwards until he had enough altitude to soar towards the call without a backward glance. If he had, he would have seen below the silent and distantly sad form of Litienn, the double-tailed lunar. She let him go: Rutilus was not given to impulsive actions without reason. This was something he had to do.

Rutilus skimmed low over the trees before making his final turn to the source of the call. However, he was forced to roll away sideways as a series of twangs sounded beneath him and three arrows pierced the sky where he had been moments before. Humans from the village, no doubt planning another strike to rid themselves of the "monster beasts" of the island. Anger at the surprise attack bubbled in his chest, and a twinge of fear for his adoptive sisters and flightmistress twisted coldly in his belly. There was a single moment where he thought of going back and warning the Crater Lake flight...But no, he flew on. The water traps, now fixed and set back up, would certainly keep them safe.

A short while later found him circling over the motley assembly of kyns, spilling air from his wings to land with a soft thump. The early morning sun touched everything with crimson, and gleamed scarlet on the odd not-lunar's strange foreleg. The unusually large gargoyle, sensing something momentous to be on the horizon, held an uncharacteristic silence.

The Eastern shifted uneasily in his cavelet; he'd been restless all night, and that eerie call had not helped matters. He was unable to tell if any of the others had been awakened by it, since his Rider's mate had magicked his lair far from the others'. Granted, it had been by his own request...

But that fact did not comfort the Kyn. He slithered from the cave on talons as crimson as blood. His Rider's opinion be damned, he was going to investigate! And if it was dangerous... If he defended them, surely he'd win their approval! They might like him, despite the blood spattered coloring of his muzzle, chest, and claws.

Duncan coiled into the air.

He would heed the mysterious call.

As the bloody Japanese slunk into sight and swept down to land, Tigris stepped forward again, then leaped from one rock to the next, springing down the cliff face to the assembly of various Kyn. Once he stood before them, he raised his head.

"I am here to tell you the story of the True Kyn and their betrayal." He let the statement hang a moment as he stepped forward, his left front leg moving smoothly, without a limp. It was clear that he'd been wearing it for a long time, and that it was a very good prosthesis.

"Long ago, many centuries ago, the True Kyn roamed the mainland freely. The Great Mother of all Kyn bore them as the first clutch, and the second clutch borne was the clutch of the Otherkin-- Your kind. My mother's kind. My name is Tigris Euphre, and I am half True Kyn." He bowed his head to let them comprehend this, then continued before they could ask questions.

"But even before then, centuries upon centuries ago, the Man-Child came." His eyes flashed dangerously as he looked up again, yellow eyes gleaming as the twilight seemed to pause, frozen where it was, unwilling to give way to daylight until Tigris' speech was finished. "He is alive today, older than the oldest True Kyn, older than the oldest Elder Lunar. Aedan, the Man-Child found the Island of Life and met the Mother. Some say that he cared for her egg himself. He may be loyal, even responsible for the True Kyns' existence..." He snarled softly at the thought that he and his people had any reason to be grateful to the human brat.

"... But what he did to the True Kyn was unforgivable." He let a slow breath out through his nose, allowing the others to let all this sink in.

Rutilus cocked his head slowly at the bombardment of titles that he knew no meaning for, nor any face to put with. True Kyn? Otherkyn? Elder lunar? Before he had hatched, there had apparently been a meeting of sorts, where most of the kyns in the world had gathered. His two elder flightmates and flightmistress, who had been there, had told him the story of Maitreya, the first kyn-- the Mother of All Kyn-- her great great (however many times) granddaughter, Minya, and the Bonded to that family line, Aedan (the "Man-Child"?), who would live until the death of the last kyn, sustained in life by his Bonded.

Rutilus wasn't stunned at the revelation that this not-lunar before him was half-True kyn (though, from the tiger-beast's actions, he felt as though he were expected to). The puzzling over Truekyn and Otherkyn though was giving the Gargoyle a slight headache. Hadn't Myrrh said that she had been told that all kyn life came from an island that couldn't be found by normal kyns? How then did it come to be that they weren't among the species that anyone knew? And why the delineation between "True" and "Other"?

"Where have all these 'True Kyn' been, if not here on the mainland, since that's where they were before?" Rutilus rumbled slowly as he tried to piece things together in his mind. "And why draw a line between 'True Kyn' and 'Other Kyn'? Aren't kyns just kyn, even if we're all different species?"

Tsukikaijuu listened to the tale with a feeling of dread. Did he really want to know how this story would end? It didn't appear to be a happy story, not the types that his human told him.

His human. Where was he now?

He kept his muzzle straight as he could, and tried his best not to think of his bonded at this point. Again he wondered: Do I really want to know what this 'Half-True Kyn' has to say? Is living in obliviousness worse than knowing something horrible? And what is an Elder Kyn, and the Great Mother of all Kyn that he kept referring to?

This...thing. It was a half-True Kyn. If he was half, then what would a full True Kyn look like? How many of them were there? But that question seemed insignificant when looking in the face of his other question.

After pondering this for many moments, he spoke after the other's question about Kyn species. "What did the Man-Child Aedan do that was so horrible?"
