||| Roleplay respectfully. There's nothing I hate more than godmodding and powerplaying. Minor powerplay (such as anticipating my characters' action) might be acceptable, particularly if our characters know each other well, but don't count on me letting things slide.
||| Ishizuke is not for sale. Don't ask. It's a dumb thing to ask.

|||Personality Ishizuke's quiet and withdrawn, as much an effect of not being able to interact with people as it is natural. Originally timid, she's growing out of that with time and beginning to resent her sun allergy. Recently, she's been learning how to cope with both strong fear and strong anger, and the more she comes out of her shell, the more dangerous she seems to become.

|||Appearance Mercury is about five-four with dark, curly hair, olive skin, and grey eyes that have none of the slant typical of her people. She is neither fat nor thin, and makes a point of dressing trendily and being seen when she is outside of the lab. In the lab, she is a purist: white coat, khaki slacks, blue button-down shirt, and tie. No matter her clothes, she always wears oval, wire-rimmed glasses.
|||Personality Mercury is cheerful and clever, delighting in jokes that have punchlines that are entirely too academic. She views most of the world in mathematical problems but seems completely able to function in normal company. A bit of a drama queen, she exuberant, overly-energetic, and vain. She loves having the limelight on her, although not usually in the case of science. That is the only thing she is underspoken about, actually. She prefers to leave academics and work out of her personal life, because the last time she let it all get together it ended in disaster. She will go to rather foolish extremes to get herself noticed outside of work. She tends to be bubbly and loves most people and children.

|||About Mercury has known Nereus for thirteen years. He is her best friend and confidante, and their relationship is a peculiar one. They most definitely love each other, and though they have raised one child together and are about to raise another, they have never technically become a couple. They have never become anything more than exceptionally close friends (and never with benefits).
Nereus grew up the youngest in a pretty large family, with one of his brothers about fifteen years older than him and one of his sisters about ten. He became an uncle at an early age and harbours an incredible fondness for children.
He is never a fussy, a**l-retentive chemist but instead a quiet, balanced man, the calm yin to Mercury's overexcited yang. He keeps her grounded and calm, and he was the anchor who helped Mercury through the depression she went through after she aborted.
It wasn't his idea that Mercury adopt a cabbage, but he's not going to say anything about it unless it never hatches. In which case Mercury's in big trouble.

|||About Angelique was actually created by Mercury, Nereus, and Juno. She is their earliest experiment, a Nobody: a concentration of body and soul without heart (the emotional center of a being). She is a very peculiar girl who identifies more strongly with the lesser Nobodies (hive-mind creatures that have only the barest of intellects) than the greater Nobodies (people except for their lack of emotion). She speaks only in simple sentences, dresses only in black and white, and tends to hoard black and white objects. While she seems to understand most commands and concepts, she is easily confused.
Angelique can control people's imaginations and bring illusions to life. Even at the physical age of twenty-four, she seems to have the mental maturity of about a twelve-year-old and still loves to play pretend. While peculiar, she is harmless to almost everyone. But it is best to stay on her good side, since she can bring nightmares to life as easily as she can bring pleasant imaginings.

|||About Renna is Nereus' neice. When Sable Hazard left the cooperative for a job at Dr. Akari's labs, the young mathematical genius was invited in to fill his vacated seat. She is a brilliant mathematician and an all-around prodigy, who graduated early from high school (she has been attending college for two years now) but is still trying to find her place in the world.
As tall and pale as her uncle, Renna is bookish and silent, but very pretty and very good with people. She is well-spoken when she speaks, and is unabashedly proud of her intelligence. She knows that she is smarter than people, and while she is not outright snobbish, she has a tendency to get patronizing.
The labwork fascinates her, though she has very little innate talent in the sciences. She's learning the ropes on the fly, trying to fill the position once held by a brilliant young biologist who knew what he was doing.
Angelique resents Renna for being everything she is not, and Renna dislikes Angelique for being resentful. They hate each other, and have known this since a year ago, when Renna subbed as lab-tech for a month while Sable went to China.
