It had been a few weeks since he had arrived now, and Phoenix Wright had been coping better than when he had first come to the Mountain. The spiky-haired Kitsusagi wandered back up the Mountain path after his flying mishap in Realm territory, broadly grinning, confident that it wouldn't happen again.
He made his way back through the forest, heading for the house where he was currently rooming at, glad to be getting back there. He had a rather big day, and had ended up travelling MUCH further than he had initially intended.
Finally he made his way back into the house, raising his nose to the air, sniffing out Edgeworth. He had something important to tell him.

"KITSUMI. GET DOWN THIS INSTANT."
Edgeworth's sharp voice broke through the peaceful silence. Beneath a tree stood Edgeworth, his gaze directed up into the branches of the tree, where a small, adult Kitsusagi's figure could be seen. Crowded beside Edgeworth stood Guo Hua and Kalliope, the two females staring up at the tree with frowns of their own. As usual, Saix wasn't there, not really caring about the Kitsusagi who was stuck - though purposely - in a tree.
"I could fly up and try to get her down?" Kalliope offered, staring at Kitsumi thoughtfully. "Or I can go fine mommy and daddy, and hope they're not busy?"
"No, it's fine." The male, suit-wearing Kitsusagi muttered. "It's not that she can't climb down, it's that she won't. It's nothing to bother your parents about." Sure enough, if one were to look up, they would see that Kitsumi's expression was one of glee, and that she stuck out her tounge in objection whenever someone demanded that she got down.

Phoenix backtracked outside of the house again as he heard the yelling. He made his way away from the house, following the source of the yelling sounds. He blinked in disbelief at the scene he saw next - a group of Kitsusagi, some he didn't recognise, and Kitsumi was up a tree.
He made his way over to them.
"Hey there," He said, grinning at Edgeworth and even at Saix for a moment. He noticed the other two females, not familiar with them just yet. He figured he would be acquainted soon enough.
Onto more pressing things. He turned his attention up the tree also, seeming a little concerned. "Kitsumi? Are you alright? How did you get up there?" He stood up on his hinds, placing his front paws on the tree bark. "Do you need help getting down?"
He was NO good at flying, and afraid of it. He had also just gotten down from another tree, receiving help from a lovely-natured Angelic in the process. But if she needed help, then he supposed he would fly...

Edgeworth's ears had been flattened against his skull, but the moment he heard someone greet them, they pricked up again, and he turned to the source of the sound.
"Hello, Wright." He greeted, with a nod of his head. Turning their own heads, the two female Kitsusagi looked over him curiously for a moment, before giving nods of their own. "Hello." Guo Hua said, while Kalliope offered him a smile, before looking back up at Kitsumi. Saix on the other hand, didn't reply with a smile, or a greeting. If anything, he just ignored poor Phoenix altogether. He always was a rather rude one.
Kitsumi peered down as she heard Phoenix's voice. Her tails wagged furiously, slapping against some of the branches and showering leaves down at the group. "Hiya Nick!" She chirped, grinning down at him. "Imma okay. And...I climbed, of course!" Then, at the offer, she blinked, head to the side. "Mmmm, I'unno!" She replied, rather cheerfully. "Maybe, maybe not."
Already, however, Kitsumi had climbed up extremely high in the rather large tree. The branch she was currently standing on was thick and supportive, luckily, but the next one above her looked quite a bit weaker...
And of course, like the bored Kitsusagi she was, she tried to climb it.

Phoenix ducked his head as the shower of leaves came down, sighing - he had just recently fixed his hair, and didn't want it to get dirty again so soon. He looked over at the two females and gave them a friendly grin, not wanting them to be intimidated.
He turned his attention back up the tree, seeming more concerned as Kitsumi climed higher.
"Hold it, Kitsumi! Come back down!" He called up the tree desperately. "I already got stuck up a tree like this one, and the branches higher up are always weaker. You don't want to step on a weak one and fall, do you? Come back down, OK?" His wings flared out with his emotions, instinct practically harping for him to fly. But for now, he ignored it completely.

Edgeworth, like Phoenix, had noticed the smaller adult Kitsusagi ascending the tree, and that the branches higher up were weaker. Bristling, he stared up at her, and barked, "KITSUMI. Down. -Now-." He demanded, furiously. It was obviously concern that was driving on Edgeworth's anger, but to those who didn't know him, it'd merely appear that he was angry at Kitsumi's stupidity.
Ears pinning back, Kalliope pawed at the tree trunk, peering up at Kitsumi desperately. "Kitsumi, get down, please?" As much as she wanted to try getting the other Kitsusagi down, she knew her small wings could hardly support her right now, nevermind an adult Kitsu.
Glancing down as the voice spoke, Kitsumi blinked, before grinning. "Waaah, I'll be fine." She assured them and, without another word, leapt up onto the branch above her. With a frightening crack, the weak branch snapped in two. The group sucked in their breaths, and held them with both relief and horror as they noted Kitsumi was hanging onto the larger branch she had just been standing on, by her forepaws.
"Whoops!" Kitsumi chirped, seeming unconcerned. "That's not good!"

Phoenix pinned his ears back against the sides of his head in reaction to Edgeworth's yelling. From the other male's tone of voice, he couldn't properly tell whether he was angry or worried.
"Probably a combination of both..." He reasoned to himself.
Phoenix returned his attention to Kitsumi, openly concerned for her safety and wellbeing. He flinched as he heard the loud cracking sound of a branch breaking and he ducked his head, his body tensing as if bracing for impact should anything fall down on him.
"Kitsumi, be careful!" He yelled up the tree in a loud pleading voice. "Come on, we're being serious here! Listen to Edgeworth and come down from that tree! Do you want to get yourself hurt or injured? Because I sure as heck don't want to see you do that!"
A small whimper escaped his throat as he watched Kitsumi hang from the branch with her forepaws, not being able to stand it any more. Emotion was winning over rational thought. Without thinking, he reacted - after a powerful kick of his hind legs and simultaneous downward thrust of his wings, the fire-feathered winged Kitsusagi was in the air. He began to clumsily flap hard, not at all used to flying or launching himself off the ground.
"Wait, what the hell did I just do?!" He bit his lower lip. "Okay, Phoenix, stay calm.. just don't look down. How hard can it be?"
Once he was several feet off the ground, he grabbed onto the more sturdy branches of the tree, stopping for a few seconds to rest and catch his breath. Flapping was much harder than he thought it would be. And far more tiring.
"Maybe I'm just too fat to fly..." He muttered to himself.
Once sufficiently rested he folded his wings up so they wouldn't get in the way or get hooked on the branches above him. The spiky-haired Kitsusagi then began to climb higher, attention up in the direction of Kitsumi.
"Just hold on there," He called up to her. "I'm coming, OK? Please just hold on." A small whimper escaped him as he looked down and he turned his attention back up the tree, focussing on what he was doing. How he hated heights.

Cursing, Edgeworth stared up with pinned back ears, muttering things like, 'Stupid Kitsumi,' and, 'if that idiot falls...' Though his concern was evident now, as he shifted nervously, his gaze glued on Kitsumi.
Tail waving, Kitsumi blinked, peering down and tilting her head to the side. "Waaah, high up. Pretty view!" She certainly was a dense one. Then, she waved at those below her, almost slipping in the process. This earned her a loud, 'DON'T WAVE, YOU MORON' from the panicking Edgeworth.
Ignoring him, she called down in reply to Phoenix. "I would come down, but it's kinda hard now." She pointed out, before grinning. "And I'm sure I won't get hurt." She replied, confidently.
The moment Phoenix took off into the air, everyone, including Kitsumi watched him in surprise and awe, before a giggle escaped Kitsumi at his clumsy flapping. "Come on Nick! You can do it!" She leaned forward a little to look at the branch he had landed on.
Kalliope rose onto her hind legs, her forelegs pressed against the tree trunk. "Mr. Wright! The key to flying is not to panick! Slow, rythmic wing flaps will do you better than fast, uneven ones!"

"Slow rythmic wing-flaps, huh?" Phoenix called down to Kalliope. "I'll have to remember that one. Thanks!" He looked down at the young Angelic Kitsusagi, grinning. Only for a moment though however - after realizing how high he was, the grin completely faded from his face, icy-blue eyes widening in fear. The spiky-haired male clung hard onto the branch he was standing on, tails out behind him like a counter-balance, stiff and rigid.
"Oh my God..."
His heart was thumping rapidly in his chest, pounding in his ears. He swallowed a hard lump in his throat as he stared down at the ground, taking in the fact of just how far up high he was. Phoenix began to visibly shake with fear - confidence was the last thing he felt right about now.
“H... h-help me...” He whimpered, recalling the very recent memory of being tossed high into the air by a gust of wind and nearly being hung in a tree by his own tie. That tree had been as tall as this one, too...
"Stop it," He told himself suddenly, shaking his head. "You're no good to anyone like this..."
With a small growl, he continued to climb the tree, soon moving to Kitsumi's level. He looked over to the girl and gave her a lop-sided grin. "You shouldn't have come up here, you know. Edgeworth's furious. Your other friends are pretty worried too. Me also. You're still OK though, right?" He softly chuckled. "I'm sure the view's nice, but.. we should probably get down now, huh?"
He tightened his grip on the branches he was holding, and flicked an ear as he began to think. He actually had no clue how they were going to get down again.

"You're welcome." Kalliope replied with a small smile. As she watched, however, he was obvious she was hesitating as to whether she should fly up and try giving him a hand. She wasn't the best flier yet, but she felt useless standing down there, when she was blessed with wings unlike the others she stood with.
"Careful, Wright." Edgeworth growled, focusing on the other Kitsusagi. "The more scared you are, the less likely you'll be able to think clearly, and the more likely you'll fall." He shifted uncomfortably, extremely nervous himself despite the fact he wasn't the one up there.
Watching from the doorway of their home, Saix sat silently, watching Phoenix's attempt to rescue Kitsumi with amusement. He had to tolerate Kitsumi longer than everyone else here, and many times, he had seen her climb up somewhere just as high. Always, however, she'd find a way down. He had once witnessed her leaping from somewhere about the same height as the tree she was currently in, and land on her feet without a scratch.
Oh well. It was too late to mention that now. Phoenix was already in the tree, and Saix figured it'd do the lawyer Kitsusagi some good to get over his fear, if not for a moment. Fear always did cripple people, in his opinion.
Seeing Phoenix quiver visibly, Edgeworth tensed, and a deep frown found it's way on Guo Hua's maw. "He appears," Guo Hua said, in her usual calm and emotionless voice, "That he's talking to himself." She noted, nodding towards him as he mumbled to himself.
The moment he drew closer, Kitsumi returned Phoenix's grin with one of her own, wagging her tails. "D'aw, but it's fun! And Edge-face is always furious and grumpy." She pointed out, before sighing. "Yupyup, I'm fine. Annnnd, how are we gonna get down anyways?" She slid her gaze from Phoenix, to the ground. Well, in her opinion, it wasn't that long of a fall.
"We could always jump." She chirped, tilting her head.
Without a word, Kalliope launched herself in the air, earning a startled look from Edgeworth. Gliding up towards the two, she hovered beside them, glancing from one to the other. Well this was a problem. One couldn't fly, and the other was only basically learning to fly. It would be tough for both of them to get down, that was for sure.
They could always try a collaborative plan.

He was only vaguely aware of the voices around him now. Paws gripped even tighter around the branch he was currently on, and if he didn't have a layer of fur over his paw-fingers, his knuckles would be visibly whitened. His fear of heights was overcoming him now and for that moment he felt as if he was prepared to stay stuck glued to the branch for all eternity if it came to that.
"Huh... what?" He mumbled to Kitsumi. "G... g-get down?" He kept his head high, not daring to chance another look at the ground. "Well, um... I could hold onto you and glide out of the tree I guess. That doesn't seem so bad..."
How hard could it be, anyway? When he had met the Angelic earlier, she had simply fanned her wings out and sailed down out of the tree he himself had been stuck in, gliding like a rather graceful swan. He had followed suit shortly afterwards, but his landing had been... bad.
"Yeah, um..." He began, moving towards her. "Hold onto me, okay? Think of it like you're giving me a hug. It should be easy then, and fun. Can you manage it alright?"
Cautiously, he shuffled through the branches, finally standing on the one next to her, reaching out with one paw, the other gripped hard onto a branch above him.
"Whenever you're ready, jump." He said, nodding, his expression turning serious. "I promise I'll catch you. Then we can finally fly out of this damn tree."

Ears flicking as she watched Phoenix curiously, Kitsumi blinked as she noted that her paws were slipping from the branch. "Uh oh, that's not good." She commented, though seemed rather calm about it.
Listening to Phoenix speak, she gave a small nod of her head, before pausing. "But Nick, wouldn't I be too heavy? I don't think you'd be able to glide down with me holding on to you." The Kitsusagi pointed out, with a thoughtful frown. "And of course, if I'm too heavy, we'll both just go crashing down." She added, oddly cheerily.
Tails twitching, and swinging back and forth on the weak branch she was hanging onto, just because she was bored, the smaller adult Kitsu yawned, her grip slipping from the branch yet again. Noting this, Edgeworth moved underneath Kitsumi, in the case that she would fall.
"Hold onto you? Muuur, I guess I can do it, yup!" She nodded, glancing at Phoenix as he moved closer towards her. "Jump? I'll try." She struggled to pull herself more onto the branch she had been hanging from, and then turned to look at Phoenix, her ears flattening for the first time. "Are you sure we won't fall, if I try to grab onto you?" Kitsumi frowned, just as Kalliope glided over gracefully, hovering close to them.
"I'll be here to help, in case something goes wrong." She glanced from one Kitsu to the other. "I don't think I can be of much help, but I can always try lightening Kitsumi's weight a little by supporting her a bit." Then, she nodded to the other female. "When you're ready?"
For a moment, Kitsumi hesitated, before jumping.

"Huh..." Phoenix visibly flinched at Kitsumi's words. Visions of plummetting to the ground like a rock came to mind and he deeply frowned, having to spend a moment to push them out again. "No no no..." He said, promptly shaking his head. "I'm sure it'll be OK. If I stick my wings out hard, no matter what happens... I'm sure we won't go crashing down." He lowered his head slightly as he watched her paws losing their grip.
Phoenix watched Kitsumi intently, blue eyes focussed and concentrating as he watched her jump. He made a loud sound a moment later as the wind was knocked out of his lungs, having not expecting the female to be quite so heavy. The force of Kitsumi jumping into him caused the male Kitsusagi to lose his balance and begin to fall backwards. He clung onto the girl's midsection, wings beating hard in an attempt to steady himself again.
"Aaaaccck!!" He yelped, black fluffy tails flailing out behind him. He tried to stand back on another branch to steady his balance, but his shoes didn't tread nearly as well as a bare foot would have.
He continued to flap hard, but was still horribly unbalanced and in danger of falling backwards. If only he was falling forwards - he could at least take off then.
"Lean back!" He yelped at Kitsumi, his wings flaring out as they tried to balance him properly.

Both Kitsumi and Kalliope squeaked in alarm as Phoenix started to lean backwards at Kitsumi's extra weight. "Wah! Nick!" The small adult Kitsusagi yelped, ears flattening. "Careful, careful! Don't fall!"
Hanging on to him, she caught the sight of Kalliope soaring towards them in a panic, and gently trying to push Phoenix forward in an attempt to help him regain balance. Hearing him yelp, Kitsumi nodded quickly and then proceeded to lean back as she was asked to, and for once in her life, looking nervous and frightened.
"Uh, Nick, I always try climbing down somehow?" Kitsumi squeaked, not sure whether this idea was very safe afterall. From the looks of it, if they weren't careful, they really would go spiraling down to the ground.
Below, Edgeworth looked like he was ready to hit his head against the tree, and even Saix looked rather startled, a small frown on his face. This wasn't looking good.
Nudging Phoenix and Kitsumi forward, Kalliope pinned back her ears. "Mr. Wright, you should try taking off now. Don't forget - try not to panic at the last minute and flap your wings wildly."

Phoenix continued to hug hard onto Kitsumi, partially because he didn't want to drop her and partially because he felt the need to hold onto something while off balance. He felt a gentle push from behind and was very grateful for it. He leaned forwards, moving with Kitsumi's leaning also. Once forwards enough, he used his tails to balance himself again properly, calling back to Kalliope, broadly grinning.
"Thanks for that!" He said, sounding much happier than just a few moments ago. He nodded at the small Angelic Kitsu's words - she was right. The male furrowed his brows in concentration and turned his nose to the wind, not daring to look down. "I'll follow your advice as best as I can."
"You ready, Kitsumi?" He grinned suddenly, then without another word, the male Kitusagi leaped onto the branch ahead of him, springing into the air almost immediately after landing. He flared his wings out and began to flap clumsily, his outer left wing smashing into one of the upper branches on his exit out of the tree. Phoenix clenched his teeth at the sudden pain that lanced through the wing but ignored it for now - staying in the air was a much higher priority.
He continued to flap hard, struggling to stay in the air. The firey wings making swooshing noises as he flapped hard, and the extra weight meant that he was already losing altitude. Although if he could flap and lower the rate of descent, that was a LOT better than falling like a rock.
"When we near the ground," He told Kitsumi, panting. "Get ready to jump off, OK...? I suck at landing."
