I am thriteen years old and I don't have my ears pierced. Should I get them pierced? And does it hurt to get them pierced?

Well, do you want them pierced?
Your body, after all.
It doesn't hurt much at all for ears-- just feels a strong pinch, really, and it's over like that.
But for the love of god, get it done right. Needles are the way to go-- none of that Claires piercing gun stuff. Mike is a timid insecure girl.

*Reads needle comment and develops slight twitch* I don't think I would let anybody shove a needle through my ears. I don't like pain.

I had my ears done with a piercing gun at Claires, and after the fact that they didn't heal well and the horror stuff I read on piercing guns (like how they just push the flesh to the side and that's why you get those horrible lumps next to your piercings sometimes... gonk ) means I'm not doing my extra ear piercings (the two more I want on the left and the other I want on my right) that way... I'm going to get them done at the piercing/tattoo salon.
I got my bellybutton done at the tattoo/piercing salon around here, with a normal piercing needle, and not only did it hurt less than my ears did it healed better and without any problems (which is unusual; bellybutton piercings take nearly a year to heal and often get infected). So I definatley prefer the needle piercings.
Bottom line about how much it hurts is that, for me, doing my ears with the gun hurt worse than my bellybutton with the needle, but that's not saying much; neither hurt badly. Try pinching the lobe of your ear hard with your nails. It hurts about like that, but it's over in a only moment.

i would rather choose a needle because i got earpiercings from claire's and since they used the guns diagonally now i have to put in my earring on my right ear in a different direction or it will hurt. ;o;

I got my ears done with a gun and with a needle at a piercing place. The gun hurt much more than the needle did. The needle doesn't pinch your ear like the gun does.

Personally, needles would be a bit more reassuring; compared to the gun. Think about it, it IS your body. As those who commented on this before me, neither hurt that badly.
