From my own (terriffically biased) point of view, it's because the majority of pro-lifers lack the ability to look at things from a different perspective. They really just can't see things beyond the end of their noses, and can't even begin to understand why others may not want what they want.

In other words, they're the epitome of selfishness. It's not enough that they want these things; they want others to want them as well, and they can't comprehend that others may have different values and goals. It does not compute with them.

Of course, I could be wrong. But that's how I've intrepreted it over the years.

It's probably because, to those who think we all hate babies and children, that's the only reason we would ever support abortion rights. Since babies are the only great joy on Earth, supporting a woman's right to slaughter them must mean we don't like babies.
