Okay well, as those who are active here may know, I've been getting threats and the like through myspace, gaia, e-mail, instant messenger, and my home phone for my pro-choice views as well as the myspace page I operate for pro-choice ideals. Well I got into a "debate" with cybergirl522, a pro-life IDIOT. I'm not saying she's an idiot for being pro-life (though it doesn't help), but she goes as far as to state that I should kill myself because I do not want children:
Her: Do you know what abortion is? It's killing an innocent fetus who if you dint want to bring it into this world you shouldn't have had sex in the first place. Everyone and thing should be given the chance to live. If you get pregnant and don't want the child put it up for adoption. Don't kill it!
Me: Nope. I know what abortion is. And I like sex; i have sex. I will not be punished for it. I will abort if I get pregnant.
Her: SO your saying youd rather kill then give life to a human being and put it up for adoption which is so much better
Me: Yes, because I am against adoption and I refuse to ever give birth to a ******** child.
Her: WELL I PITY YOU AND HOPE U YOURSELF DIE
Later on...
Her: his world really has no room for people like you ARROGANT b***h
Me: I am the one who pities you if you genuinely believe that someone should die because their views differ from your own.
Her: When you kill an innocent human being and alot of people beilieve this that you must hate the world greatly so do us all a favor and take your own life
Even later...
Me: I don't hate the world. I like it. But I'd hate the world, or dislike it greatly, if I had a child.
Her: Children are younger versions of their parents
Me: So? That doesn't mean I'd love it.
Her: Im sure you would
Me: No, I wouldnt. I hate children, I'd rather kill myself than give birth. If I was a parent, I'd hate myself and the child for putting me in that situation.
Her: LIKE I SAID BEFORE DO US ALL A FAVOR AND TAKE YOUR LIFE THEN

Sorry for the long-winded conversation post, but I figured it would be an interesting read anyway, and you guys can give your input if you choose.
But my question is: Why do so many pro-lifers attack those who do not want children? Why do so many people assume that babies are the key to happiness, and that we are awful people who should die if we do not want them?

For someone desperately keen to insure the life of an unborn group of cells (or 'baby' as the pro-lifers like to use just to wring in that emotinal appeal) I find the idea she is keen to have someone kill themselves (without the serious context) as laughable. Preservation of life indeed.

How the hell do you get so much hate mail? How do all those people know about you? I hardly get hate mail anymore. How did they find out your phone number?
Anyway, I have found that a lot of the pro-lifers that I have talked to have had children. Not because they planned them but because it just kind of "happened" and they didn't want to kill their "baby". So they "owned up to their responsibilities".
I think that translates to "I had my baby! I didn't want it! I am not happy! How dare you be happy and child free?" Or something like that. Like just because they chose to suffer we must also. I may be wrong, but it comes off like that sometimes.
I don't want kids but I plan on having sex. Kids are disgusting and annoying. I don't want my house to be a mess, sticky slobbery kisses, or any of that garbage. They may be alright to baby sit for a couple of hours, but I would loose my mind if I became a mom. I just hate kids.

I've also got depression and an eating disorder, so if I got pregnant and was unable to abort, I'd probably kill myself out of desperation and my disposition to suicidal thoughts and actions. I think that even if I was "better", I still wouldn't want kids. I could not see myself being happy with them.

What the 54 year old woman said made me laugh because of the shear hypocrisy of it; a pro-lifer threatening you with death, which convinces me that some of them should have the slogan "Pro-life, we care about life, as long as it's not pro-choice!"

Maybe you should tape this s**t just in case it does get out of hand (which it seems it is alreadly). You might just need evidence. Phone calls are few, once every couples of weeks, maybe twice a week. Messages and PM's relaying similar messages however, are daily. I live in Kenosha, WI.
