MANGA! Most anime/mangas I watch the anime, cause I find it easier to do (speacially with Naruto! God, how long is that thing?)
But Death Note Manga goes into more detail, the characters last longer (e.g. Matt! <3) and L and Light look so much cuter! ^^ Only the manga doesn't have the rain scene from episode 25! (Stuff that yoai fans have feel days over!)

The anime was well done, they stuck with storyline and they haven't put any fillers (well, not that I know of, I'm only on episode 20 gonk )
Plus, the animation was well done, but I definatly agree that they over did the part where Raito writes the names in the death note. Waaay to dramatic Made me laugh. The anime is also quite brief
Though, I agree, the manga has more detail, and shows more depth of the characters. and I like reading better than watching (Staring at a screen for so long hurts my eyes x_x)
So I'll go with the manga. 3nodding

I've seen very little of the anime, but it's okay, not quite as good as the manga, of course.

I haven't seen all the anime, but I think I like the manga better. The characters seemed better-drawn, particularly L.
I did like the anime's opening/ending sequences, though. heart
Light's writing will stay with me forever xd

i think i would go for the anime.. coz, i don't have the chance to read the manga yet, and all i can do is watch the anime. coz its more convinient for me that way.

I think both are pretty good, but I would have to side more with the manga.

manga

way to dramatic with some of the scenes

like his potatoe eating scene

and the scene where mikami stabs himsel and like blood spurts out like a cannon

and many more

and they made theending way too sentimental for light

Manga! I always read the manga before watching the anime. Both are great but I prefer the manga. It's more exciting and true, you see!

BWAHAHAAAAA.... hahaha.

I didn't know pens could make silver lines when you waved them around in the air until I watched the anime.

We must try this. All of us, right now.

Both have their perks, the ending of the manga was odd some points of it I could have done with out. As for the ending of the anime it was similar... but better executed. But I'm still leaning more towards the manga... mainly because in the manga Light isn't an idiot.

xd Oh man, I can see it now. Mikami at a fancy dinner and he uses a credit card to pay. The server comes up...

Anyways, I'll always like the manga alot better because I don't really like those scary overdramatic scenes. It completely ruins it for me. But I will say that the anime was quite well done anyways. 3nodding

Manga.
I'm sorry but the potatoe chip scene was just overdramatic. With the music and the chips, it just didn't work. And a lot of it was just overplayed, but it was amusing and pretty good in some parts. I wanna try writing like Light, to see if it's possible.

and the ending in the anime. wow, that just disapointed me, I mean Geeze Mikami! He must be a freaking fountain to have that much blood just pop out of him!

the manga ending was so much better.

i REALLY like the manga better. now im going to somewhat vent and tell you all why: (oh, and these are MAJOR spoilers, so beware)
both the anime and the manga are over. the manga ended perfectly. in the anime, Light ran away and Near said "Oh, just let him go, because he wont get far." Mistake! Near's always wanted to capture Kira, so WHY did he say i dont care?! also, the anime makes Light's death a TON less pathetic. he lived a pathetic life, so he SHOULD have a pathetic death! and lastly, in episode 25, there was a MAJOR yaoi moment between L and Light. dont get me wrong...i LOVE yaoi (mostly), especially between L and Light, but i hated that in an actual EPISODE, L was giving freaking FOOT MASSAGES!!!!!! that's MESSED UP!!!

*gets ready to run for his life for posting in a topic that hasn't gotten any love in 12 days*

I saw the anime first and to be honest, I don't really prefer one or the other. The manga does have more depth to it and yeah, the unneeded over-dramatics aren't there, but I usually don't get through a volume in one day so I end up with eyes that are screaming out in pain and a need to finish but never do until the next day. Not to mention I love red blood, so the overdramatic thingie at the end of the anime where it's just spurting out of people made me laugh with glee...

The chip scene was VERY worthless in the anime, but it served as comic relief I suppose. From the way that Light was sweating and breaking those chips in half with his mouth I wouldn't be surprised if this happens:

"Wow, Light you're so strong. Do you work out?"

"Yep, in-fact: I just tore through 3 bags of chips last night!"

*gets seen as a fat, chip-eating b*****d and left*

Light: crying *whips out Death Note and goes on psychotic killing spree*

Okay that was a bit off topic...What was I saying again?
