June 28th, 2005 Discovery ______________________________________________-
The day of June 28th had continued as any other day would. As soon as Malcolm got off the bus from school, he was greeted in his kitchen by thousands or more of various insects. Cockroaches, flies, beetles. You name it, they were in that house. It had only gotten worse from the last time his parents tried to extinguish them. At first, it was just a small nuisance, but as they tried to get rid of them, time after time, the pests would not go away. Of course, Malcolm being the 10-year old boy he was, didn't care a bit. He loved the insects, they were his friends. Oddly enough, they seemed not to bite him at all, while his parents, on the other hand, would wake up with sores all over their bodies. The family had moved once, but it was as if the bugs followed them, like the plague. They could not rid themselves of the buzzing, the biting, the mess. But, every time a different exterminator company was called, Malcolm became more and more infuriated. He wanted the bugs to stay. As soon as his mother hung up the phone and told him the man would be there soon to get rid of the bugs, he just lost it. He ran up to his room and slammed the door, throwing himself onto his bed. His parents didn't understand. He thought of all the bugs that they had killed, all of the people who disliked them. His face grew hot and tears poured down his eyes. It seemed as though his whole house was buzzing, now with the sharp bizz of hornets, wasps, and horseflies. The angrier Malcom became, the louder the buzzing grew. Malcolm could hear his parents shrieking in terror; the bees obviously were attacking them. But, as a "bubble" of air formed around Malcolm where no insects could bite him, he didn't care. He sat up in his bed, a look of revenge on his face. Revenge for all those helpless insects that his parents had selfishly killed. Revenge for the pain they caused him every time a man in a Zapp-'Em suit walked through their door. Now he could hear police sirens outside the door. The screaming stopped downstairs. Malcolm wondered - was it because the wasps had stopped stinging? Or...could they be... As his anger cooled, and the swarm started to dissipate, Malcolm decided to brave what lay downstairs. As he walked through his living room and into the kitchen, a team of officers and EMTs surrounded the area. One of the men must have heard him walk in, because he turned around slowly with a look of horror on his face. Malcolm's parents were dead. Because of...him? How had that swarm happened anyway? He didn't know. He just did not know.

June 29th, 2005 Malcolm's Pick-up (With SSJ + Rachel) ______________________________________________- Rachel usually was a happy and bright-spirited girl. But not today. Today had been an absolutely horrible day. She let out an unhappy sigh as she touched her black eye and winced. Not just of the pain, but also because of the accompanying memory.
"You freak!" the girl that had spoken looked down on Rachel with her eyes widened in fear and disgust. "You don't belong here!" she gave Rachel a push and a punch in her eye. Shocked, Rachel backed away. "B-but I didn't hurt anyone, did I?" she whispered as she looked around, trying to find a way to escape. There was none. The group kept on advancing to her. She felt strange. Everything seemed so blurry. Her head was throbbing. She gasped as she felt the girl's hands on her neck. "Die, you freak! Die!" the girl seemed to have gone mad and as Rachel felt her vision darken and her breath getting shorter and shorter, it suddenly stopped. She heard screams and when she opened her eyes she saw the girl lying on the ground. Did she do that? She looked onto her own hands and saw them glow with the life energy she had taken, no,stolen from that girl. Paling, she backed away and started sobbing.
Rachel shook her head somberly as she sat on the bench. Shortly after that, she was taken away to the police station where a few men dressed in black picked her up. And here she was.
She shivered as she could still feel the remains of the girl's energy flow through her.
Malcolm walked through the large oak doors, his heels clicking on the tile. Two men in uniforms walked behind him, ready in case he let his anger out again. He kept his head down, staring at his feet and recalling the incident a couple hours ago.
The house had been invested for years. With termites, roaches, flies, spiders....all sorts of insects. Malcolm's parents had tried to exterminate them a few times, but they kept coming back, and no one was sure why. This morning, they had called the last group of exterminators in town to see if they could possibly rid the house of pests. Malcolm was furious about this. He liked the bugs...they were fascinating. It seemed as if he could control them, and he liked the power he had over them. So upon hearing his parents were going to get rid of them forever just made him burst. Malcolm pictured in his mind swarms of horseflies and mosquitoes hovering over the house. He thought of spiders biting his parents until they couldn't move. He imagined bees stinging anything that moved. Then he opened his eyes......and all he could hear was buzzing. And screaming, and general terror. Thousands and thousands of varieties of insects were literally swarming the house, and none had even touched him. He walked into the kitchen, where both of them were sprawled over the floor, covered in stings and swellings. He was terrified...it was obvious he had caused this. Without thinking, he closed his eyes and imagined all the bugs were gone. And then the buzzing stopped.
That's how he had arrived here. Evidentally the police thought he had some sort of power....
Slightly bored, Rachel carefully peeked around the room. It was empty, except for a dead ficus that stood a few meters away in a seemingly random place. Averting her gaze, she continued to look at the floor. But after a while, even that didn't seem to appeal anymore and she snuck another glance at the ficus. No! She had gotten into enough trouble as it was already, she shouldn't be even thinking about this! But nonetheless her feet seemed to have a life of their own as they carried her to the dead ficus. Staring at the ficus, she felt herself slip into a weird state of conscience in which she could see the ficus so much more clearer, she saw the dead cells of life and just knew what she needed to do to replenish them and give him a second chance of life. Hearing her own breathing in her ears she softly put her hands on the ficus and then the energy started to flow. She blinked and let out a gasp. The ficus looked as if it was in its prime. She smiled, glad she had at least saved one life today. Frowning, she realised people were approaching and quickly moved to sit on the bench. She felt her heart pounding wildly. What would they say if they saw she was a freak?? She cringed and prepared for what was about to come.
The men behind Malcolm stopped and put a hand on his shoulder. "Turn that way." He shrugged the hand off, and reluctantly turned down into a room....it appeared to be a waiting room of some sort. There were benches on either side, and a desk in the middle. He sat down on one of the benches while the men went up to the desk and rang the bell. Malcolm folded his arms and looked down at the floor. He hadn't looked up once since he came. He didn't want to be here, let alone see what the place looked like.
Rachel cringed as she saw two men and a boy enter but none of them seemed to notice her. As she saw the men leave, she waited anxiously for the boy to say something. Looking up at him she noticed he was gazing absentmindedly at the floor. He didn't seem to have noticed her. But wait! Why would he be here? Would he also be-.... She pondered that for a moment before she carefully got up and silently made her way over to him. She stopped right in front of him and cleared her troat. She smiled a fake smile as she said: "Hi, I'm Rachel. Who are you?"
Malcolm looked up hurriedly when he heard the voice. Not another person to deal with. He didn't like people. Then again....if this girl was here, then that must mean she was like him too? Maybe. "Oh..umm...hi. I'm Malcolm." He moved over on the bench to make room for her.
Rachel felt a bit more relieved now that he didn't seem to act hostile. "Thank you." She sat down next to him on the bench and looked at him. She was silent for several minutes, observing him, before she spoke. "So.. w-why are you here?" she asked it, not sure if she wanted to know the answer.
His legs swung under the bench. "I...kinda...um. Killed my parents. With bugs." He stared at the floor again, ashamed of himself. "What about you?"
She gazed up at him in wonder and was thinking if she should be afraid of him before she thought of what she had done. She shrugged and pointed at her black eye and the bruises on her neck. "This girl at school wasn't too happy with me, so when she tried to kill me, I caused her to go into a coma." she looked back at the ficus before she looked at Malcolm again. "Do you know why we're here?"
He looked at Rachel. "Well that's not nearly as bad as what I did. And the worst part is...nothing happened to me. I think they're afraid of us." He nodded towards the window. "Them. We aren't like them."
Rachel shivered as she unconsciencely lowered her voice. "B-but what will they do?" Her eyes widened "They won't try and kill us, right? Right? We're just kids!" She suddenly felt trapped and jumped from the bench towards the door. She started to pull at it, but it refused to open. "We're trapped in here, what if they come in with a gun?" she let out a moan as she put her entire weight on the door when it opened. She heard a strict voice "What is going on here?" and looked up in fear at the huge shadow standing there.
He put a hand to his head. Girls. They freaked out too much. "They aren't gonna kill us....besides, we're more powerful then them. If they even tried, we could get them before they got us." He jumped when the door opened. Who could it be?
He shuffled through some papers on his desk until he found the appropriate files. Leafing through them quickly, he jotted down a few more facts on his notepad and muttered to himself. "...charges sorted out... bribes..." he scratched his head and glanced at the clock. Realising they must have been waiting for some time now, he stood and walked into the empty corridor. He turned left, right, right, two more lefts until he came at the room he sought.
As he opened the door, he heard something crash on the ground on the other sound and a muffled outcry. He frowned as he stepped inside the room, looking quite strict. "What is going on here?" He gazed at both the children in here, the girl, Rachel as well as the boy, Malcolm.
Malcolm slouched down further in his seat. Great...now the guy's gonna think he knocked out Rachel. Just greaaat. "She was trying to escape." That sounded like such a lie.
Rachel glared at Malcolm as she sat up. "Was not!" she felt a blush creep up as she now noticed the scary shadow was just a man. He looked pretty strict and she quickly scrambled up. "I was just.. er..." she fell silent and looked defiantly up at the man standing there.
He merely smiled at the girl standing there. "Rachel, will you please sit next to Malcolm. I think you both could use an explanation." he watched as the girl let herself fall next to the boy. He pulled out a chair, put it in front of the two children and sat down.
He merely gazed at them, sizing them up, as it were.
Malcolm laughed to himself. Okayy, she was not trying to escape. He now moved his attention to the man in front of him, who seemed very...what was the word...professional. He looked as if he could be the owner of this place, which was very well possible. Malcolm glanced over to Rachel, who seemed afraid of the man, of course.
Rachel looked back at the man as well. Why wasn't he saying anything? This was unnerving. And Malcolm wasn't speaking either. She fidgeted a bit.
Umm...yeah. This was kind of awkward. Malcolm didn't like silence. A gnat flew in front of his face, and he instinctively made it stop flying, and grabbed it in his hand. The man cast him a look. Malcolm thought he didn't see...but then again....he cleared his throat. "So...err...why are we here?" he asked the man, slowly opening his hand and letting the gnat fly away.
The man nodded, as if he had been waiting for one of them to say something. "Well children, my name is Charles although most refer to me as Mr X. As you may have guessed, you are in a government agency. We are a secret agency known as the Super Hero Relocation Agency. We make sure that young people with extraordinary gifts, such as yourselves, will be trained and treated correctly. Since the situations at your own homes became unlive-able for the both you, we have found two people willing to be your guardian until you are capable of taking care of yourselves." he smiled as he saw they were trying to comprehend what he had just said. "Do you have any questions?" he asked kindly, looking at both Malcolm and Rachel.
Malcolm understood. He didn't want to go back home, anyway. He probably would have been put in jail. "So...what does this place have to do with it?" He was confused at that part. "and what about superheroes?" He certainly was no hero, let alone a superhero.
Charles turned to Malcolm. "Well, you two are not the only ones that have developed these powers. There are others too. These others wish to cause harm to others and spread their evil reign over this world. We, as in the government, have therefor decided to train those select few that are gifted to fight against them. We will help you to gain perfect control over your powers. Eventually you may decide to help us or simply go back to living in normal society. This is all up to you."
Rachel just stared at the man. This was weird. Bizarre! Preposterous! Fighting evil! He must be insane or something. She really couldn't think of anything to say. And yet... She looked at her hands. It would be nice to have some control over her powers because now everything just seemed to happen whenever she was feeling a strong emotion.
Malcolm looked at the gnat he had just released. If he could use this power...and do something with it...."So..umm...Mr. X, what exactly is going to happen to us? Do we stay here, or go with these new people...?"
Charles nodded at Malcolm. "We have found the both of you two guardians who will help you with the training of your powers. We believe they are qualified enough to handle any emergencies that might come up." Charles reached into his pocket and pulled out two cards with a phone number on it. He handed on to each of them. "This is my phone number. If there are any problems, do not hesitate to call. You can reach me 24/7 and help will come immediatly." He stood up and walked to the door. "I'd like to introduce you to your new guardians." He pulled the door open...
Elvira took a deep sigh as she shared a glance with the woman standing next to her. She was about to meet the child she was supposed to take care of and train in just a few minutes. Rather anxiously, the woman absentmindedly brushed a blonde bang behind her ear, only to have it fall out a minute later. She shifted nervously as she leaned against the wall in this grey hallway. If this was the place where the children were brought in the first time, they would probably be quite uncomfortable. The opening of the door caught her quite unprepared as she rushed into the room.
Babs stood next to this woman...she didn't even know her name. Her anxiousness made her lose her manners, as it usually did. She tapped her nail against the wall, waiting for Mr. X to come back out with the children. To her surprise, she heard the door creak open. That was fast, she thought.
Charles looked up to see the two women waiting very anxiously. He surpressed a chuckle as he motioned for them to come in. "Please come in, you two." He waited until both women were inside the room before he closed the door and surveyed the scene in the room. He saw Rachel and Malcolm sitting next to each other, both looking as anxious as the two guardians-to-be on the other side of the room. He went to stand in between them as he turned to the children. "Rachel, I'd like to introduce you to your guardian: Elvira." Rachel looked shyly at the woman standing there while muttering a soft "Hi there." Charles then turned to Malcolm. "Malcolm, this will be your guardian: Elaine." He then took a few steps to the side of the room to give them a chance to speak to each other.
Malcolm turned to Rachel. "Well...guess this is it. I'm sure we'll be seeing each other soon, though. Good luck." He gave a faint grin, then turned to Babs. "Err...hi." She turned to him with a smile. "Hello, there."
Rachel looked Malcolm go and gave a soft gulp, she then pushed herself up and made herself over to her guardian. She looked at her carefully. "Hello..." her voice was soft, barely audible. Elvira smiled at the girl, seeing that she was very shy, she decided not to push her luck and take it easy. "Hello Rachel, I understand you're scared, but you don't have to worry. Everything will be alright." She smiled gently at the girl.

June 29th, 2005 Coming home ______________________________________________-
The ride home could very well have been one of the most awkward/silent trips that Elaine had ever taken. She wanted to speak to Malcolm, but he just wasn't interested and stared at the floor as if it was magical or something. Maybe she should break the ice. It was now or never. "Hey Malco-" "Don't talk to me," he replied curtly. "Look, I jus-" "Please." Elaine swallowed a lump in her throat, and turned back around in her seat. Obviously he wasn't into 'breaking the ice' right now. She could wait. In a few more minutes they would be at their new apartment anyway, and she would definitely need to have a conversation with the boy then. Until that time, however, the woman guessed that it would be another few minutes of silence.
What she didn't know was that Malcolm wasn't just staring at the floor. He was gazing at a small sugar ant that had managed to climb aboard. His hand shifted around in his gloves, attempting to manipulate it. The only affect he had cause, though, was to make the ant stop moving and change directions. Not really what he was going for, but he hadn't really put any thought into it. When Elaine tried to speak to him, he cut her off rudely because he was trying to concentrate. His manners had never been good in the first place.
Not long after Elaine was cut short, the car pulled over to a curb and the driver opened the door for the two passengers. In front of them was what looked like a fairly normal apartment building, not much different than the one Elaine had just been living in. I guess this won't be so bad afterall, she thought to herself, taking a sideways glance at Malcolm who was already running up the front steps, a frustrated look on his face. After giving the driver a smile and a 'thank you,' Elaine followed in Malcolm's steps to go into their new home.

August 1st, 2005 Settling down ______________________________________________-
Malcolm was the first one to enter their new apartment. He took his suitcase and ran into the first bedroom, slamming the door in Elaine's face.
She had a hurt look on her face, but she sort of expected this behavior from him. She opened the fridge and found nothing. Guess she would have to go shopping that night.
Frustrated, Elaine sat down at the kitchen counter and poured herself a glass of tap water. Maybe she would let Malcolm cool down a bit and get his things situated. Grocery shopping it is, she thought to herself.
Chugging down the last gulps of water, she placed her glass in the sink and knocked softly on Malcolm's door. "Malcolm? I'm going to go grocery shopping, I'll be back in about a half hour, okay? Why don't you unpack, and check out the place while I'm gone?"
No response. But that was okay. "See you in a few, hun."
------------------
The credit card that had been provided for them had come in good use, and Elaine left the shopping center with a whole wagon of food and supplies. When she arrived back at the apartment, she found Malcolm sitting on the couch in the living room playing on his Gameboy.
"Hey, I got ya something," she said in her sweetest voice, unpacking a carton of ice cream and other supplies from a plastic grocery bag. "I promise it's good....." Malcolm was curious and looked over, saw a jar of hot fudge, and immediately turned off his game. "Ice cream?!" He asked excitedly.
"You bet. Ice cream sundays."
The rest of the night was spent with the two of them getting covered in chocolate sauce and whipped cream as they made, quite possibly, the most monstrous ice cream sundays ever.

August 15th, 2005 First training session ______________________________________________-
"So, excited about your first training session?" Elaine asked Malcolm. He looked a bit nervous, so she ruffled his hair and joked around a bit to ease his nerves. "Yeah, I guess so," he replied with a smirk.
Things had calmed down since the few weeks they'd been in the apartment. They had gotten unpacked and decorated the place to look as homey as it could, and Malcolm seemed happier. But, she had yet to see him use his powers at all. For this reason, she was almost nervous for him. And for herself for teaching him.
"All right, let's get to it!" Elaine tromped down the hall with Malcolm in tow, and walked into the training room in their apartment. She opened up all the windows in it, a pulled out the screens, seeing as how he needed insects to even use his powers.
"So first tell meeee.....what's your favorite insect?" "Bees!" He announced proudly. "Great! Bees it is. I want you to close your eyes, and picture a single bee coming towards you. Feel it, picture it, use it." Malcolm closed his eyes and did what Elaine had told him. His fists clenched up as he did so, and his eyes began to twitch. "Okay...now open them." Buzzing in front of him, was a single hornet. "Looks like we've got our test subject," she winked at her boy, and put the screens back on the windows, closing them as she did so.
"Now, I want you to manipulate him. Connect with the hornet, feel his presence in your mind. Try twirling him around your finger." Malcolm did so, and concentrated. To his surprise, it actually worked, and the hornet twirled around his finger like a ribbon. He moved it up and down, and back and forth, around the room and back towards him. It was only a single insect, but a big step for him. In the taxi a couple weeks ago he barely move a small ant. A large smile crossed Malcolm's face.
"Okay, I think that's enough for today. You did great, hun. Next week - how about a whole bee hive? I'll get one sent in from the agency." Malcolm shrugged at this, but nodded. He could only keep his eyes on the hornet at the moment. He headed for the door, but the insect followed. An idea crossed his mind.
"Can I keep him Lonny???" He screamed in excitement. "His name will be Dion!"

September 24rd, 2005 Radio broadcast ______________________________________________-
At precisely 9:00 am, Malcolm's alarm clock switched on and started blasting out a tune. Right, like that was going to wake him up. He moaned, turned over in his bed, and clamped his pillow to his ear. The song soon faded out, and an announcer's voice came on.
"...yes, yes, very tragic indeed. Cindy, will you recap the story for us?" "Sure thing, Bill. Yesterday, in the center of the Metropolis, a triple murder took place. There was a Villain concerned, Solarduct who murdered three children. One of the children was believed to be a Super." "And what is the updated situation?" "Well Bill, a government agent had given a press statement which we will play for you now." The announcer's voices turned into a large mass of screaming and yelling, and then everything went quiet. This time, a man's voice was heard. It sounded to Malcolm strangely like that Charles guy at the Agency. "Ladies and gentlemen. Today, at september 23rd, 5 PM a terrible tragedy occured here in Metropolis. The Villain Solarduct has attacked the First Kidz play area and murdered three children. These children were eleven years old." He paused as the muttering started and raised his hand again. "The guardian of one of the children was murdered by Solarduct too, at approximately 4 PM today too. I will take a few questions now." News anchors then began to yell out their questions, hoping to be heard by the man. He answered a few, then apparently left the scene, because the chaos Malcolm was hearing melted back into the two radio announcers' voices. "There you have it Bill. The government is training children to become the next Supers, but Solarduct is hunting them all down! The government agent wouldn't comment on anything else, but it is suspected that there are more of these children. Perhaps they are living among us, they could be your neighbour! What I would feel necessairy to point out, is that, if you disover your neighbour to be a Super, do NOT reveal this to anyone else. They are the heroes of the future, and when they are all murdered, what hope will there be for us?" "Well, that's... surprising. All information can be found on our site, which is updated hourly. We will be right back after these musical breaks. I am Bill Notnil, for 97.1 WPLR." After more songs started playing, Malcolm bolted upright in his bed. He thought about Rachel, and what might happen to her. And what about the other kids? He threw on a pair of pants, and ran down to the kitchen, where Babs sat drinking a glass of orange juice. The radio still played in his room, he had forgotten to turn it off because he was so shocked about this new announcement. Malcolm stood frozen in doorway to the kitchen, waiting for his guardian to notice him. Elaine heard his heavy breathing, and turned her head from the newspaper to him. "What's wrong sweety?" Obviously, she hadn't heard the radio or watched the morning news yet. The boy then proceeded to tell Lonny (or so he called her, Babs was just too weird of a nickname,) all about what he had heard. She was quite stunned at first, worried for Malcolm's safety. She decided to give Charles a ring later on that day, and make sure that all the Supers-to-be were going to be all right.

The messenger shot an annoyed look at the letter in his hand. He wasn't sure if he liked delivering all these messages. And he had so many more addresses to go. He wondered what those governement guys were up to.
Sighing he walked over to the house and pressed the doorbell. When the door opened, he handed over the message. "Here ya go, m'am." He shuffled a bit. "I'm s'posed to be waitin' for yer answer." he stood back, awaiting the answer rather impatiently.
The letter contains the following message:Quote: Dear Elaine, Tomorrow morning at 9.00 AM a meeting will be held where Malcolm will be able to meet with the other children under the Agency's care. This meeting will also be a group training session. Please let the messenger know whether you are interested or not. If not, you may ignore this message. If you are, a car will pick you up tomorrow at 8.30 AM and escort you to a building. The driver will give you the code needed for safe teleportation to 'Safe Haven'.
Sincerely, Charles ((If this message interrupts your ongoing roleplay, please continue to claim all post you need. AFTER that, PM the mule with the request to have the post removed and reposted.))

October 6th, 2005 Receiving the letter ______________________________________________-
Babs gave a curious expression to the messenger, taking the letter from him with a nod of thanks. She slid her finger under the seal and took out the contents, sitting on a kitchen stool to read the letter, momentarily forgetting about the messenger waiting on her doorstep for an answer. Giving the letter a brief skim, catching the words "9:00" and "group meeting," she looked towards the messenger and let him know that her and Malcolm would be attending. Closing the door behind him from the chilly draft coming through, she sat back down to read the letter more thoroughly and inform Malcolm of the meeting when he woke up later on.
