I'm a girl drummer and prod of it. I'm not going to trash the guys who don't like girl percussionists, they're perfectly entitled to an opinion. But seriously, why does it matter what gender you are? I've seen both guy and girl perscussionists, and some are amazing and some suck. It's not the gender, it's the skill level.

I just started playing percussion last month, and I heart it. I play mallet percussion, but someday I hope to play drums (snares, tenors, basses) as well. mrgreen

I'm one out of three girls on drumline. Two of them, including me, were marching cymbals and the other one was the snare captain.

Im a girl drummer and loving it, Im not one of those girl drummers that gets upset for hitting there hand on the bass drum or anything like that, I have such girly girls in the percussion and it is sad there are three me and to whiners, cant wait till they leave. I dont want to be the only girl drummer but you do get more respect when you are tough and there isnt anyone holding back how coolthe drumline really is

I'm a female drummer. There is only one other girl in percussion and she's gonna leave next year anyway. Pssh. Seniors. Next year when I'm a Junior and section leader, I'll be the only one. D:

I've only been in percussion for two years, but I've been a musician for 12 years. I thought I wasn't going to get anything out of percussion, but it taught me to approach music in a new way. I'm usually the kind of person who'd just read the music, practice blahbalhalha I've never played without music before, and it's been hard for me to remember music. and it taught me to listen to the band and watch the drum majors because for percussion, tempo is all that really matters! xd i mean, with guitar or piano with a little lag, there's nothing detectable and you can act like it never happened but with cymbals you can just totally throw someone off with them, s**t they throw me off. xDDD I was the first female in our new drumline (our school's first real drumline) and the first asian I guess.

Im the only 9th grade percussionist and the best damn freshman marcher(there was only three), but i'm not exactly the most involved in it. i have other stuff, but the upper classmen said that i was the one they wanted to be section leader, but i really dont want to. they luv me though!!! im the fav. freshman. i wana play bass drum next year. i really don't like snare. 1 snare, 3 bass, 2 pit and 1 cymbal <-me!! not a lot i know, but im better than the 2 pit ppl!

I may be a freshman, but most of the bandos thought I was a pre-cymbal section leader because:
1.) All the cymbals were freshman
2.) The only sane dedicated cymbal
3.) Only one that held marching technice
4.) Only one that actually liked cymbals
I feel cnceded.... =_=
