Well I started drumming in a colonial fife and drum group when I was 8 and I've been in that group for 6 years. In my whole time in this group there was no more than 2 drummers at a time (one of them being me). When I got into the High school Marching band over half of our drummers were girls and I was amazed. So I'm just curious to how many girl drummers there are hanging out on gaia, because I thought there was a rare few of us untill recently. Oh yeah, and I'm bored as hell.

My best friend is a female drummer. She's good, too. 3nodding I'm not a drummer, though - couldn't drum to save my life. ^^;; But yeah, my friend drums; it's really cool. She was the only girl drummer when she went to my school. Now we don't have any.

Well, I know quite a few girls who are drummers... I've attempted... but failed miserably, girl drummers have my respect.

Best drummer in my college marching band is a girl. There's also a girl on the snare line who is the best mallet player I've ever seen but she likes doing snare.

Huzzah! Unite! I prefer the term 'percussionist' though...I'm first chair on snare, mallets, and everything else we've been tested on!

Jequilan Well, my band's got 2 out of 4 snares that are girls and a total of 5 in the total percussion section during marching season. On the field or all together? When I see girl snares I get very happy! It makes me feel proud to be a girl percussionist! (And makes me feel show-offy especially when there are more girls than boys!) heart 3nodding heart

We have 3 out of 8 percussionist who are girls in my grade and in seventh grade there are like 6 but they're all not very good and preppy to boot, so most of them are going to quit.

My ex-best freind is a female drummer, but she is the only one out of both high-schools to my knowlage... wait, there is a quad female at east too, but during concert season she turned into a basson player. Ricardo is a drummer at my current school... does he count?

On our drumline of 11 kids, only 4 were guys. ^^ There are also like 10 people in our pit and only two of them are guys.
\m/ BASS DRUMMERS!! \m/
EDIT: Come to think of it, our band really doesn't have a gender conscience outlook on instruments. We currently have one guy on flute and three guys on clarinet, along with our female dominated percussion section.
