Right, I asked my uncle this same question, he's a gamer and anime/manga fan himself.
And he doesn't think the government is wrong. He did bring up a good point.
There are anime with odd topics in them. All though they are not rightfully wrong, it's not exactly right for us Americans either.
I'm talking about anime with yaoi/yuri, sh-ai, sorts of cult, all that jazz. o_O
America isn't like the people in Japan are. Their ratings are quite different frmo ours. sweatdrop

Stuff like that is nothing new to American airwaves, it's just never been animated before. I don't see those government bigwigs rushing out to ban Blade: The Series or half the programming on the Sci-Fi Channel simply because of gratuitous scenes of and the occult! Anime has just as much a right to the airwaves as anything else! stressed

Well, anime is a cartoon. And kids like cartoons. The kids will watch the anime.
Or they're afraid people will go all otaku. :/ My friend claims that's what happened in China and a few things are banned there.
