it is because you like me, are born with japanese blood, and we will always be able to tell difference. side from that it is because we spend our whole lives with them.

i can see distinct difference.
I can't!... They look the same except for maybe the third one... But I still don't know...

It's all in the subtleties. Its how white people(or any people of similar skin tone, or heritage, for that matter) are able to tell who's from what region, or country. Just spend some time with each, and you'll start to pick up quickly. Besides, I bet a lot of Asians think all the white (or black, or whatever ethinicity you happen to fall under) people kinda look like each other, too.

Oh, and just because I feel like taking a stab at it, I'll say the order is Korean, Japanese, and Chinese

well, actually, it is japanese korean and chinese
RATS! Well I know my Japanese. Chinese people seem to have darker skin with the stereotyped yellow tint and slantier eyes, (no offense gonk !) while Japanese are often more fair skinned. NOT ALL OF THEM! But yeah. Usually I can just tell wut ethinicity an asian is. Which I know is creepy. But I don't care. I can't tell white people apart much tho, and I AM white so that's a bit silly. But that's just the weird way I am.

NEWayz rolleyes ,
Can I tell an asian friend of mine apart from other asians? Um. Der. But can I tell Chinese from Vietnamese...? Might be a little more difficult. But you look @ a blonde girl and tell me if she's German or Polish. You can't tell, can you? Seriously. I'm Italian and people are always telling me and my mom how asian we look. A man once mistook my mom for a woman from Thailand. Noone can ever tell, and its not just with asians.

Wut a bizarre-o topic this is.

there is difference for white people? i always group as one...

mhh.. actually, if we take those 3 pictures, I think it is not that easy to tell who is which even for a japanese... (unless they are really famous people).

no, they stick out quite wel really(or at least in my eye).

Being a Chinese and an Asian Indian myself, the Chinese girl was easy to tell (it's easier for me to distinguish the East Indians at my school too), and I have had a lot of Korean friends, as well as I have been around a lot of Japanese before, especially when I visit Hawaii. So, it really does get easier to tell the more and the longer you have been around other Asians more often, even if it does not seem like that at first.

do you live in canada? you should be able to speak japanese if you speak north indian language!(punjabi, hindi, gujarati) i have indian friend here in japan and she speak very good japanese, i hope the same for you

No, I live in America. I do not know any Indian whatsoever, and very little Chinese which I used to study when I was younger but thought it was too hard at the time because of the kanji characters (but I find kanji easier than I thought back then). Japanese is still a little easier for me though, and thank you for such kind encouragement.

Now that I have seen someone who is Chinese, a Japanese, and two Koreans (from Lost!! XD) It's not really that hard for me to tell the difference. I can tell by they're skin tone.
I beg to differ. I am full Japanese and I have a darker skin than most Native Japanese people year-round. There are a lot of Japanese people who have dark skin, as well as the one's who have really pale skin.
I do not think skin tone is completely indictative of which part of Asia someone is from.
I can usually only tell the difference between Japanese and Koreans, and its really hard to explain how. . . they have very distinct facial features.
it is because you like me, are born with japanese blood, and we will always be able to tell difference. side from that it is because we spend our whole lives with them.

My friend from Korea says she can most definately tell the difference between Asians and she said she originally thought that Americans all looked the same 0-0. I can sorta tell the difference sometimes, by their last name and sometimes from just looking at them, since most of the people at my school are Asian! It seems to me that Koreans have a 'softer' face that Chinese and Japanese. Otherwise it is hard to explain the difference that I see between them!

I'm Taiwanese, I have Japanese friends and Korean classmates. Being able to tell what person is from which country by their looks is a stereotype. We look very much alike, and just because some people have seen a lot of pale-skinned Japanese, Chinese with slanted eyes and Koreans with high cheekbones doesn't mean everyone is like that. Sure, it works sometimes, but it's not very acurrate. That's just my opinion from my own experience.

Hell, Japanese people have mistaken me for a Japanese, and people of my own country have asked if I was Korean.
