Well, thinking about it they would do that. That would be a good idea but I have a feeling that a lot of people wouldn't want to do that because they would feel it would undermine the car and what it stood for, power and the raw muscle of the time

We shall see what the future will bring, but the point of Hot rod is not to be for rich people, they have Ferraris, it is for "normal" people. But with higher gas price what can you do. I will rather ride mine, then just watch him in my garage.

Okay, I got really bored after reading for about five minutes. I'm a slow reader, so I'm not entirely certain if any of what I am about to say has been touched on as of yet.
Basically, I drive an eight-mile-per-gallon-on-a-good-day monstrosity. I lvoe that car with all my heart, maybe all anyway, but a lot of it. And The rising gas prices are killing me. I just wish they would go back down to about $1.80, that would be good enough for me to get by. But yes, I forsee many new hybrids coming out, and one of my friends is actually going to get one soon, of course, his grandfather owns a chain of car dealerships, so it's easy for him. I like the idea of the hybrids, but until they can accelerate better than my big old boat, I'll stick with fuel consumption. And for hippies (I practically am one), I just removed my smog pump, so I'm glad I don't live in an emission controlled state.

I drive a 58 chevrolet apache which doesnt get very good gas mileage...I also wish that the gas prices would at least go down a little...I live in a little town that doesnt worry about emmisions, all they do is safety inspections...Which is good for me...The thing I hate is that Dodge Diesels put out more smoke when they accelerate than 10 cars put together(no offence to you dodge lovers)...And everyone is worried about cows and farms and global warming...I think that some people will buy these cars and some wont its called being unique...I might buy one of them, I might not it depends on what is going on when that time comes around...

actually, it's interesting that a lot of people complain about gas prices... if we take a look at previous gas prices, you'd be surprised...
so, way back, like, around the turn of the century (probably more or less around the time Henry had his stroke of genious) gas was $0.25/ gallon... that's equivalent to $5.00 in today's prices...
then, let's look at gas when it turned to about $0.33/ gallon... which I believe was in the '50s or '60s... that's about $2.00 in today's prices...
so, considering recent gas prices (at let around here), being $2.00/ gallon, I'm not complaining... I was blown away when we were pushing $3.00/ gallon... and other places higher... that was insane...

Eh...I love the smell of gasoline too much. I'll have to buy my own refinery or something to supply my future 576 rod. Until then, I'm kind of glad my flywheel's locked up in my 400 Ford...it means I get to drive a tiny little 1.6 liter Toyota powered Chevy Nova, yay! I like getting 32 mpg.
