Well I was wondering what you thought of rising gas prices they seem to be steady but rising and falling some as well. The price is putting a strain on a lot of people that must drive a considerable distance to even get to get work and this can't last much longer for truckers as well. Opinions on type of cars we could see and your ideas on them.

just see this link and that is generaly my opinion
gas price

and bloody hell i'll rather run, walk or drive a bicycle then drive a car that runs on carots and corn, or bacardi blody breezer for that matter

There is enough fuel on earth to last, but the reason why are gas prices rising is because Arabian countries dont wanna sell it for cheep, and the rest of the world is trying to take it on force. Until they come to sense and make some deal so everybody willl be happy, we can just look at the numbers rising.

And i'll say again the reason i like cars is because of the sound they make by burning dinosaurus bones. I wonder how they will sound when they mash some weed in it.

ouh and the envoirment. I'll just say that there is a lot of hippy trippy green parties in the world, and they are saying that we souldn't drive fast, long, off road, what we want. And that sound just little like some comunist talk. If the nature goes to hell, she will judge me, not some guy who had too menu joints.

Well I think everything is good the way it is, because you have the people that drive the V8s and then the people that drive the newer gas efficiant cars that helps the planet. Its pretty well good I think, though it has been proven that all the emission from the cars and factors (not really related to cars an less you want car factories involved) did make the Hurricanes stronger.

OOooh, don't get me started about that Global Warming and stronger Hurricane crap! I've lived on the Florida panhandle for 12 years, and it annoys me everytime I see someone talking this nonsense...

Anyways, my take on things:

Hybrid cars are a fad. Granted that people tend to buy them for different reasons, many like to flaunt that they have a hybrid. Hybrids are really only effective in cityscapes like New York, but really fail in areas like the state of Florida.

I laugh everytime I see a hybrid, because I know that I can find a new car that is more powerful, more fuel efficent, better build quality, and costs less. Not to mention, if the world ever did run out of oil, it could still be powered. What miracle car is it? It's a diesel (more specific the diesel VW's). Unfortunately there are many stereotypes and false connotations attacted to diesels in the US, but there have been many advances made.

Diesels will make a comeback starting the end of this year, when low-sulfur diesel becomes the standard at the pump. Mercedes-Benz is already talking about bringing it's diesels state side. I hope other manufacturers follow suit.

As for high gas prices, the liberals on Capitol Hill keep crying to Bush to lower gas prices, make the US less dependant on foreign oil. However, whenever there's a plan to drill oil somewhere (like ANWAR or the Gulf of Mexico), it's always shot down by the enviromentalists (who are supported by the libs). Of course, democrats seize the opertunity to say that Bush is helping his big oil ties or some such BS like that, and want to tax the oil companies for "excess profits" which will only cause the price of gas to rise.

I could go on untill I turn blue in the face (or get carpel tunnel...), but I'll leave it for now.

I support your tought totaly. Peugeot, Citroen and Nissan have developed new generation of HDI (high-presure direct injection) diesel engines and they are more fuel effectiv then all petrol engines ever, and even have more power then some. BMW have put two turbochargers on a new 5 series diesel and it has more torque then ferrari 360.
I am from Europe and here diesel is everyday car for most of people.
I have even seen a Buick Grand National with an diesel engine from Iveco van !!!! eek
And to be even more extreme, the newest trend is to drive a car that runs on buthan gas. You can only put it on a petrol engines cus it needs a carburator. Now 1l of buthan is twice cheeper then 1l of petrol !!!!!!
Only down side of it is that you loose about 20% of engine power.
In the city you can run it on buthan and save a lot of money. But when you get to open road, in a click of a button, you can switch it to petrol. COOL.
But with new euro 5 standard that won't last for long. They want to make us stop driving and all travel by bus or metro in the end, or drive that paper Toyota.

Cars are not destroying the earth, cows put out more green house gasses than all the cars in the world, and corn oil is not the way to go, it would cause farms to haft to double at the least to keep up with demand, and ultamitly cause more destuction than cows. but i have one word, hydrogen
most cars only need a simple upgrade to make hydrogen, its like the butane theroy, but it has even MORE power than a combution engine, similer to injecting NOS. hydrogen can be made out of simple household items, i agree that gas prices are going up, but they are not the highest theyve ever been, in the 80s gas prices were about 2.50 a gal, today that is a bit over 5 bucks a gal, so we dont even got it that bad. but we should get hydrogen as soon as possible, im 15, and i will have to start paying soon, and with a decent car, like my camrey 50 bucks will get you about 500 mi easy, but it pisses me off that people in SUVs and HUMMERS complain about high gas prices, and blame it on our cars, like its our fault they HAD to get that hummer, we dont need to make cars more efficient but make SUV drivers stop buying oversized cars to drive to work. if your gonna get a car that gets only 5 mi to the gal, use it for what its intended, long huals or off road, not to take your poodle to the vet. and finaly in my rant, GLOBAL WARMING DID NOT START THE HURRICANES!!!, the earth has a cycle like this every 100 years, and i live in florida, my house is still here, if your gonna put a house in HURRICANES paths then please, make it out of something other than wood put up over night, ~cough~ devoloupers ~cough~ this concludes my rant on gas.

i have watched a segment on 2 new hydrogen cars they are working on. one was hydrogen and electric hybrid and the other was hydrogen, electric, and deisel. the hydrogen/electric one was called the aggressor. right now its strictly military but looks really promising. its fast for a hydrogen car ( i forget the top speed) and it puts out 1700 foot lbs of torque. its completely silent ( hense why the military wants it for stealth missions) and can run lots of things all at once like fridges and other accessories. it can also be parked in a tent unlike the hmvee. very effiecent as well. they also want to take these designs and try to run transport trucks with the technology. they also shot the tank witha 33 cal. armor peircing round to see what would happen and they had to upgrade to a 50 cal. because the bullet just dented the tank. and when they shot threw it all it did was push the hydrogen out the hole, no explosion. so i think gas prices won't be too much of a concern in the future until we run out of hydrogen. and the emmisions are pure water. so good for the environment aswell.

that is very good though, I see that when they do start coming out it will be very expensive so in time it will go down and more places to get hydrogen.

I dont know much about hydrogen cars, just that they are on some way making chemical energy to electric. Sadly but cars as we know today will be just junk or few happy ones will be in museums.
But then again we seee every day some old Mustang or Hot rod with the newest engines, with all that hi-tech parts and wathever. So maybe one day we shall see Hot rods with hydrogen engine.

I just want to say, Toyota Prius is an ugly car. So no matter how effectiv or envoirment frendly it is, i dont want it. Until they make it look like Ford GT (for example), and run like it, i'll pass.

well we dump all the excess food and plant mass we get from our farms in to the ocean, just so everyone can pay a extra quarter for a couple cobs of corn

to be honest i would rather run on ethanol, cheaper easier, and you can tweaks a carb setup easier and faster to run on it than hyrodgen.
and you can brew your own ethanol, moon shine anyone? lol

the military used to have a big ol' dual rear axle monster of a transport called a deuce and a half you could seriously run out of gas, pop the tank lid pour anything from wine to vodka, even diesel or kerosene, and this puppy would fire right up and troop along and run over a few nazis on the way lol

hyrogen can be cheapely produced but its not as easy as it sounds to modify cars to run on it, it is a gas like air, tho emissions would be near to nothing
quickest way to produce hydrogen would be electrolosis (any clue if i spelled that right?) just electricutiong water basically one pole makes O2 the other makes hydrogen.

still to me ethanol is cheaper and easier, sides you can drink it, its got more oomph than gas too, 1.3 or 1.4 times the power.
to me being able to feed your car what you wanna get slammed on later seems pretty hard to top lol
just my opinion

i never thought about that. i thought all muscle cars would be history and i'd have to store like a pool full of gas. but yeah they would definatly put the new age parts in the old bodies to keep the cars alive.
