Kurma is a strange being. There are some rumors that he is an attendant to Cosmos, and his actions in the past have demonstrated alignment with the cause of Order. He helped the senshi reconnect to their homeworlds years ago, and was also unwittingly involved in the ascension of Sailor Alkaid. Since returning to Earth following a search in Deep Space with an unknown purpose, it's started to become apparent he's hiding something.

It's even possible some of the things he's said about himself in previous years aren't true. And with his vagueness and elusiveness in the face of questions, it's unlikely a conversation with him will resolve matters.

However, some things have slipped. They will be found here.

Jinkies! I found a clue!

RP Link: Necessity
Characters involved: Kurma, Lyndin and Caedus
Details:
Kurma had some pointed commentary upon observing Caedus's star seed had been experimented on to the point of severe magical instability.

Quote:
The scene before him was bizarre and twisted enough for him to give a long whistle at it all. "You know, I don't know if I've ever seen anyone mess things up this bad," he said, looking between Lyndin and Caedus and the hideously twisted starseed. His voice lowered, and his expression almost looked serious for a second. "And lemme tell ya, kids...

"I'm way older than you."

Jinkies! I found a clue!

RP Link: Amazing Sights
Characters involved: Kurma, Encke, and Velyria
Details:
Kurma's ball is an unusually high concentration of a mineral that Velerian Commander Velyria recognized as Ambreon in its refined form, Ambreon Glass. Velyria has said it has unique properties related to energy efficiency and transfer. Kurma has implied it is nearly unbreakable. Ambreon, these days, is found scattered around space, but Kurma has implied that it has other origins. There might be something inside his. He has also implied that it doesn't blend well with mortals at large and should be gotten rid of post-haste.

Kurma has also strongly hinted that he is not mortal.

Quote:
"Scattered around space, huh?" asked Kurma, with a sigh and a cross of his arms. "Is that where people say it comes from nowadays? Probably for the best, I'd say." He shook his head slowly, in dismay that didn't seem quite honest.

"Mortals and ambreon don't mix."

The grin dropped suddenly.

"I've been around a long time. A very long time."

His form looked no more than a handful of decades old, but his eyes, his eyes -- were weary. Exhausted. He was exhausted with how old he was. Exhausted with how much he had seen. How much he had done. How much he had yet to do.

"I've seen the mistakes people make with this stuff."

Eons of experiences seeped from his expression, clear and sincere and direct.

"It's not worth it. It never is. Someday I'll get rid of mine." He held his orb in his hands, and for a moment, seemed to be peering inside it. As if something more was hidden beneath the strange, swirling sparkles it contained. "I recommend you do the same for yours, friend. For those little pieces you found. Your people don't deserve what could happen if you keep it. As for you..."

Kurma looked again, at Encke.

"Pay this conversation no mind. Keep your focus on fighting Chaos instead. All this is, is a bit of ancient history that has nothing to do with Earth, or senshi, or anything that matters now." He gave a small, sad chuckle. "Next time we meet, let's talk about something nicer."

And then, with a swelling glow and a flash of golden light -- he was gone.

Jinkies! I found a clue!

RP Link: a victim of eldritch circumstance
Characters involved: Kurma, Chrysocolla
Details: When questioned on if there were others like him, or if he was the last of his kind, Kurma became afraid and immediately moved to end the conversation.
Quote:
She ran the fingers of her free hand through her hair, soothing flyaways back into place. "There's not anybody like you, though? Or at least not anybody the Negaverse knows about, anyway. Do you mean you're not the only one now, or that you weren't always...?"
Quote:
At that inquiry, Kurma froze mid-bite. His eyes stayed staring straight ahead, unblinking, and the expression on his face -- for just a brief second -- could be easily recognized as fear. He had just been asked a question that he had hoped, had assumed, that no one would ever ask.

The terror in his eyes was quickly and forcibly replaced by irritation at his answer. "I think that concludes our little interview," he said assertively. "Now, if you'll excuse me..."

Kurma also appears to have no starseed, or at least not one in his chest.
Quote:
At the first digging of fingers in his chest, Kurma made the usual choking noise people made. His pizza plate fell to the frozen ground, half-eaten, and they snapped! over and down, down to the Dark Kingdom. He fell to the cold polished floor gracelessly. A pair of shaking hands gripped around the senshi's wrist in protest, but he lacked the strength to give the protest any weight. His legs spasmed; his boots scrabbled at the ground like a dog being dragged to its kennel.

And as Chrysocolla's hand dug in further, she would find -- nothing. Nothing. Nothing at all, except for magically parted flesh. Nothing at all, except for the jerking of her target's body as it continued to struggle against the intrusion. There was no star seed to grab. His chest was empty of the prize she sought.

Kurma tried to say, stop! Let me go! but all that came out was a humiliating string of spittle and a jerking groan that could hardly pass for words.
