Garrett had to check his impulse to shift to a more advantageous position in the room and a more effective stance for close combat. When the young girl threatened both him and Ms. Rune once more in her demand for information. It was easier to do so after reminding himself that she was just a scared girl but he remained on guard because even the scared and the young can kill when they have live steel in their hands.
With that in mind and not wanting to put words in Ms. Runes mouth he gave a look to Rune to indicate that that was her question to field. He would instead focus on attempting to deescelate the situation.
" Young miss. As we have said before, we have no wish to harm you nor a wish to take you anywhere you do not wish to go. Perhaps we could discuss this in a manner less like that of a highway robbery and more like civil people? Ms. Rune offered me food and drink when we arrived here and I am sure she would extend the same courtesy to you should you wish it. I usually find myself enjoying crusty bread and cheese after long outings."
The knight continued while keeping his tone friendly in spite of the fact that violence may occur in the near future.

Rune kneeled down, keeping her gaze on La'ella and smiled. "I know you're scared but you don't have to be. We'd like to be your friends? I live here little one. I guess just saying that I do isn't enough to convince you that I'm telling the truth." She then pulled out a picture of her and Artemis. "Would a picture make you believe me? Take a look at it alright. I take it that he forgot to show you a picture of me."
La'ella slowly walked towards the girl and looked at the picture. Her shoulders relaxed and she stood up."I remember Mr. Artemis saying something about another living with him....."She put away her tome and looked at the two in the room.

After observing this small interaction between the two, Garrett was confident that Rune would be able to keep the young lady calm and collected. So, doing like a member of the royal guard does, adopted an at ease stance and fade in to the background. present, but not so much a person as a feature in the room unnoticed until required or called upon.

Rune relaxed and smiled. "I take it that he never showed you a picture of me. Artemis forgets things from time to time. Have you seen him by any chance?"'I wonder where Artemis found this little girl. Where could he have gone off to? It's not like him to take off without telling me. He usually leaves a note or something. I hope he's alright.'

La'ella Tia Shaline's new charge
La'ella still adopted an air of protection around her but was more relaxed."Mr. Artemis and Lady Shaline went to her house to prepare a room for me. Mr. Artemis is letting me stay here while they work on the room. I was still really tired when they left....so I stayed here...."She glanced at both trying to read their body language.
The knight maintained his stance but could not help but smile slightly as the cat eared girl began to relax slightly. It certainly helped him worry less since it seemed that the situation was not going to explode in to comba "Ms, Rune, if you want I can come back at a later time if you would prefer to focus your full attention on the young lady.or is their something I can do for you to assist with this?"

Rune smiled and stretched out a little. "I see. I'm sure there's a chance that they will return soon. Artemis likes to check in on me." She turned to Garret, her phone ringing before she could say anything. "Hold that thought Garret." She then walked off into another room for a few minutes. After returning, she smiled and leaned up against a nearby wall. "You don't have to go Garret. Artemis and Shaline are actually going to bring lunch over. You should stay and get something to eat."

La'ella's ears perked up when she heard that Artemis and Shaline were on their way back. What interested La'ella more, though, was the device that was in Rune's hand. With her ears slightly back, La'ella walked over and took Rune's phone and started looking it over."What sort of magic is this. You were talking on it. Does it send messages instantly to some where? Plus it made a noise before you started talking on it...."

Garrett could not help but smile at the young child's curiosity with the phone. remembering his own first reaction to seeing the technologies of the world and the worlds beyond. it could be summed up in a few choice phrases...
"DEMONS!!!! FOUL CREATURES!!!! SPAWN OF THE DARK SHALL NOT BE AVAILED!!!!"
yeah that was not a fun repair bill that he ended up paying... it was good to hear that the other residents of this desmine were returning soon if only so that he would be able to meet them in person.

Rune couldn't help but laugh at La'ella's reaction to her phone. She figured it was something the girl wasn't used to. "It's not magic little one. It's called a phone and it helps people communicate with each other. And yes, you can send messages as well. The noise you heard was a way for it to let me know that someone was wanting to speak with me. You can use a phone to contact someone, even if they are far away." Rune then turned to Garrett and smiled. "Have you ever had any experience around a phone?"

Garrett snapped out of the ongoing litany of his more embarrassing memories at the question sent his way. Shifting his gaze into Runes direction he looked between the two women before reaching up and scratching the back of his head. "I have some experience..." letting his statement trail off in a hope that they would not inquire further for it would only end in embarrassment. "The technology of this world is much beyond what we have in my homeland in my time I have seen many wonders that i would have attributed to the greatest of magi only to find that it is not magic but technology. I remember reading somewhere that suitably advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Being here? It makes one wonder."
